Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (left knee scope) is questionable for training camp.
Moeaki has already been ruled out for OTAs, and his status for camp remains up in the air. His roster spot won't be guaranteed after the Chiefs drafted Travis Kelce and signed Anthony Fasano. Moeaki is due $1.32 million in 2013, the final year of his rookie contract. May 25 - 7:19 PM

Tony Moeaki (left knee scope) isn't participating in Chiefs OTAs.

The Chiefs thought Moeaki might be ready by now, but predictably, he's not. He does remain on track to be ready for training camp. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, the Chiefs have greased the skids for Moeaki's departure after signing Anthony Fasano and drafting Travis Kelce.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (knee scope) remains on track for training camp.

Moeaki missed pre-draft voluntary workouts, but his surgery was not believed to be serious. The Chiefs still aren't counting on Moeaki for a large 2013 role after signing Anthony Fasano and using the 63rd overall pick on Travis Kelce.
Apr 29 - 3:56 PM

Aside from holdout LT Branden Albert, TE Tony Moeaki (knee scope) was the only player not participating in Chiefs' voluntary workouts on Tuesday.

Moeaki is believed to have gone under the knife soon after last season ended. He's expected to be ready for OTAs in May, but it's just the latest reminder of his frailty. Going into the final year of his rookie deal, Moeaki has a new Chiefs' braintrust to win over. The Chiefs signed TE Anthony Fasano to a four-year, $16 million deal on the first day of free agency.
Apr 16 - 10:22 PM

Tony Moeaki underwent arthroscopic knee surgery after the season.

Moeaki is expected to be ready for OTAs in May. But in the context of his entire injury history, it's a concern. He had a knee scope after the 2010 season, sustained a torn ACL that cost him the entire 2011 season, and also battled injuries throughout his career at Iowa. It's at least partially the reason the Chiefs gave Anthony Fasano a four-year, $16 million deal soon after free agency opened.
Mar 14 - 8:53 AM

Tony Moeaki sparked an escalator in his rookie contract, raising his 2013 salary from $575,000 to $1.323 million.

After tearing his ACL in 2011 and missing the entire season, Moeaki returned to start 14 games in 2012. His season was a disaster, though, as the mess at quarterback limited Moeaki to just 33 grabs for 453 yards and one touchdown. He'll look to fill the Brent Celek role in new coach Andy Reid's offense in 2013, the final year of Moeaki's contract.
Jan 30 - 2:46 PM

Tony Moeaki caught two passes for 21 yards in Kansas City's Week 17 loss to the Broncos.

Returning from a one-game absence with a head injury, Moeaki's team-leading 21 yards represented 45.6 percent of Brady Quinn's passing total. That, of course, says much more about Quinn than Moeaki, but there's no guarantee the Chiefs' quarterback situation will be any better in 2013 than it was this season, at least early on. Still only 25, Moeaki boasts an intriguing skill-set, but with his durability an ongoing concern, he'll enter next summer well off the fantasy radar.

Tony Moeaki (head) and Dexter McCluster (illness) are active for Week 17 against the Broncos.

Moeaki is returning from a one-game absence, while McCluster is playing through an illness that popped up on Friday. Although either player could conceivably lead the Chiefs' Dwayne Bowe-less receiver corps in receiving this afternoon, neither is worth a look for Week 17. Inactive for the Chiefs are QB Ricky Stanzi, WR Josh Bellamy, FS Abram Elam, RB Nate Eachus, G Rich Ranglin, LT Branden Albert and LE Tyson Jackson. The fact that Stanzi could never get into a game this season is ominous for his NFL "future."

Tony Moeaki (head) returned to Chiefs practice Friday, and is officially questionable for Week 17.

Moeaki got in a limited session in his first practice since Week 15. Although it's a good sign, he's still far from assured of suiting up for Sunday's finale. Even if he does, he'll barely be on the TE2 radar.

Tony Moeaki (head) has yet to resume practicing.

One of the Chiefs' lone bright spots in 2012 is looking likely to miss his second straight game. The injury prone but talented third-year tight end is signed for just $575,000 next season, and should be back with Kansas City even if GM Scott Pioli is fired.

Tony Moeaki (head) is doubtful for Week 16 after missing his third straight practice Friday.

It's unclear why the Chiefs refuse to admit Moeaki is concussed and "out" for Week 16, but that very much appears to be the case. Moeaki will be far from a guarantee to return for next Sunday's finale.

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki (head) missed his second straight practice Thursday.

If it looks like a concussion and smells like a concussion, it's probably a concussion. Moeaki can be safely ruled out for Week 16.
Thu, Dec 20, 2012 05:41:00 PM

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki missed practice on Wednesday, and "may" have a concussion.

According to beat writer Adam Teicher, Moeaki took a "big hit" against Oakland. He was never announced as being injured, however. Regardless, with the Chiefs' passing offense still among the worst in recent memory, Moeaki remains miles from fantasy relevance.
Wed, Dec 19, 2012 04:46:00 PM

Tony Moeaki caught three passes for 36 yards at Oakland in Week 15.

Moeaki saw just four targets. His 17-yard catch was the second-longest play of the day for the Chiefs, which speaks volumes about the state of the offense. Moeaki is unworthy of a roster spot even in deeper leagues.
Sun, Dec 16, 2012 07:54:00 PM

Chiefs TE Tony Moeaki caught one pass for ten yards in Kansas City's Week 14 loss to Cleveland.

Brady Quinn completed only 11 balls all game, so there wasn't much passing production to be spread around amongst Kansas City's would-be pass catchers. Moeaki won't be worth rostering in re-draft leagues for Weeks 15 and 16.
