ESPN Dolphins reporter James Walker believes Miami will let free agent DT Jared Odrick walk.
This doesn't come as a huge surprise. The two sides haven't engaged in contract talks, and the Dolphins seem poised to make a serious run at free agent Ndamukong Suh. Odrick will still have a healthy market after Suh and Terrance Knighton sign their deals. Odrick could command north of $6 million annually as a scheme-versatile lineman who can play 4-3 defensive tackle or 3-4 end. Mar 4 - 11:50 AM

According to the Palm Beach Post, there's a "growing belief" free agent DT Jared Odrick will test the open market.

The Dolphins are trying to re-sign Odrick, quite possibly their No. 1 priority in free agency. But as a scheme-versatile 27-year-old that can get after the quarterback from the interior, there's going to be plenty of interest come March. Odrick's market will get even hotter if interior linemen like Ndamukong Suh and Terrance Knighton re-sign with their respective clubs.

Free agent DT Jared Odrick has yet to hear from the Dolphins.

Odrick, 27, started 15-of-16 games this past season, grading out as a top-19 defensive tackle at Pro Football Focus. He received especially strong marks as a pass rusher, although he recorded just one sack. Odrick has 16.5 career sacks and has experience playing 4-3 defensive tackle and 3-4 end.

Dolphins DE Jared Odrick is taking snaps at defensive tackle in OTAs.

Odrick is on a positional island after the Dolphins used the No. 3 pick on DE Dion Jordan. He's also a poor fit for Miami's 4-3 defense, and is coming off a rough 2012. Odrick will likely be frequently called on to kick inside on passing downs this season.

Dolphins RE Jared Odrick filed a lawsuit against financial firm Success Trade over an alleged investment scam.

Yahoo! Sports reported Wednesday that multiple federal agencies including the FBI, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and Department of Justice were probing Success Trade investments. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has red-flagged Success Trade for selling $18M in fraudulent and unregistered promissory notes to 58 investors, 30 of whom were pro athletes. Among the athletes who purchased Success Trade promissory notes were Browns CB Joe Haden, 49ers TE Vernon Davis, ex-Redskins RB Clinton Portis, and ex-Bears DE Adewale Ogunleye.

Dolphins RE Jared Odrick says he will shed 20 pounds this offseason if he's asked to stay at defensive end.

He's keeping the weight on for now in case DT Randy Starks leaves in free agency and Odrick has to kick inside. We suspect Starks will be tagged if no long-term deal is reached, and Odrick will stay at end regardless. Even at the lesser weight, Odrick is unlikely to suddenly become an explosive pass rusher.

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald suggests that the Dolphins might place RE Jared Odrick on the trade block.

Odrick was drafted to play "five technique" in a 3-4 defense. The Dolphins are a 4-3 now, and Odrick lacks explosive ability requisite for 4-3 defensive ends. "He's not a fit for the scheme," Salguero writes. Odrick has cheap base salaries through 2014, is only 25 years old, and possesses an ideal skill set for the 3-4. He could likely bring back a second-day draft pick via trade.

The Dolphins will look to Jared Odrick and rookie Olivier Vernon to generate pressure opposite Cameron Wake.

Without a strong pass rush, the Dolphins shaky secondary will get torched this season. Odrick will be a full-time starter for the first time in his pro career. According to Pro Football Focus, he generated 24 QB pressures last season, converting five for sacks. In passing situations, he'll kick to DT with Vernon coming in at DE.

The Dolphins are using Jared Odrick at left defensive end in their new 4-3.

Odrick played right end in the old 3-4. Now a 4-3 team, the Dolphins are trying to get their best four defensive linemen on the field. Odrick figures to play end on all running downs, kicking inside to tackle in passing situations with rookie Olivier Vernon replacing him on the edge. Cameron Wake will be a full-time, every-down right end. The D-Tackles are Paul Soliai and Randy Starks.

Dolphins RE Jared Odrick earned a $1 million contract bonus by playing over 45 percent of the team's defensive snaps in 2011.

Finally healthy after an injury-shortened rookie year, the 2010 first-round pick exploded for six sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception to earn praise from NFL Films guru Greg Cosell for a breakout season. Pro Football Focus graded Odrick as a top-20 3-4 defensive end in 2011. With NT Paul Soliai and LE Kendall Langford both unsigned for 2012, Odrick is the Dolphins' primary building block on the defensive line going forward.

Dolphins DE Jared Odrick said his fractured left foot is fine and he's been running for awhile now.

Odrick, the 28th overall pick in last year's draft, appeared in just one game as a rookie thanks to fractures in both legs. If the Penn State product can sustain health, he will likely start at right end across from Kendall Langford.

Dolphins placed DE Jared Odrick on injured reserve with a fractured left foot, ending his season.

The first-round pick also suffered a hairline fracture of his right fibula earlier in the season. Odrick wound up appearing in just one game as a rookie. Fractures to each of his lower legs is concerning, but Odrick figures to be healthy for the start of the offseason program. The 28th overall selection in April's draft, he's still a building block for the Fins' future.

Updating a previous item, Dolphins DE Jared Odrick's latest injury is a broken bone in his left foot.

The injury is to the opposite leg of his previously fractured fibula. Coach Tony Sparano confirmed that Odrick is out "for a long time," but he stopped short of declaring the rookie's season over. Tony McDaniel will continue to fill in as the starter.

The Miami Herald has backed up's Jason La Canfora's report that Dolphins DE Jared Odrick (fractured leg) is done for the season.

The Herald is reporting that the injury occurred in Wednesday's practice, so he evidently aggravated his previous fracture. He's expected to be placed on injured reserve shortly. It's a disappointing end to the season for the first-round pick, as he played in only three quarters in his rookie year.

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Dolphins first-round pick Jared Odrick is in danger of missing the rest of the season with a hairline fracture in his right fibula.

Odrick, who has a plate in the leg after suffering a similar injury at Penn State, has made no progress since going down in Week 1. The Dolphins have been able to tread water while waiting for the rookie to return, but will now have to avoid injuries the rest of the way to maintain a formidable front seven. Odrick figures to be placed on injured reserve within the next few days.
