According to the NFL, there has been "no change" in indefinitely suspended ILB Daryl Washington's status.
"There is no change in his status, and we have nothing further to report," was spokesman Greg Aiello's full statement. Washington admitted late last month that he had yet to hear anything about his potential reinstatement, but said he was "confident that something will work out." Washington's ban currently stands at the 408-day mark. He'll be facing additional punishment for his May 2014 domestic-violence arrest upon his return. Jul 13 - 1:50 PM

Suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington plans to be at training camp.

Washington texted FOX-910's Mike Jurecki he has not heard from the NFL about his potential reinstatement, but was "confident that something will work out." Washington has been suspended indefinitely since May 30 of 2014. Even if he is reinstated, Washington would face a lengthy suspension stemming from a domestic violence incident in May of 2014. Anything the Cardinals get from Washington this season will be viewed as a bonus.
Jun 20 - 1:50 PM

Suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington had his probation reduced by two months and his aggravated assault charge reduced to a misdemeanor.

Perhaps the reductions will help Washington get back in the league's good graces. He's been suspended indefinitely since May 30 of 2014 and is currently in the process of applying for reinstatement. However, complicating matters is the dual violations at hand. Washington has a domestic violence violation in addition to two substance abuse transgressions.
Jun 15 - 12:36 PM says there is "no news" regarding indefinitely suspended ILB Daryl Washington.

Washington's suspension is at the 367-day mark. It's unclear if he's applied for reinstatement, but it's believed he has. FOX Sports Phoenix recently reported that Washington himself was unsure of his standing with the league. The consensus is that Washington will still be banned 2-6 more games as punishment for his substance abuse and domestic violence issues.
Jun 2 - 6:05 PM

A source tells FOX Sports 910 Phoenix that suspended ILB Daryl Washington "is not aware where he stands right now" regarding a potential reinstatement.

Washington is serving an indefinite ban, one that required him to miss at least one full calendar year beginning on the date 5/30/2014. It's nearly one full calendar year later, and Washington is unaware of when he'll get to play in the NFL again. Cardinals beat writer Mike Jurecki anticipates Washington serving 2-6 more games. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic previously guessed Washington would be suspended 4-6 more games. Washington has served concurrent suspensions for substance abuse and domestic violence.
May 22 - 8:34 PM

The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers expects Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington to receive a 4-6 game suspension.

That would be on top of the yearlong ban Washington is coming off of this season, as he's expected to apply for reinstatement any day here. The Cardinals figure to roll with Sean Weatherspoon and Kevin Minter at inside linebacker while Washington is out. Washington will turn 29 in October.
Apr 17 - 10:30 AM

Suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington intends to apply for reinstatement "within the next week or so."

Washington recently stated he has not failed or missed a test for banned substances during his suspension, and also completed an anger-management class. Washington still hasn't been disciplined for a past domestic violence arrest; his current indefinite ban is for offenses related to illegal substances. We suspect Washington will begin 2015 on the reserve/suspended list.
Apr 10 - 3:37 PM

Suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington said he recently completed anger management/domestic violence classes.

He's also showed up for and passed all of his random drug tests since being suspended last May. Washington has found himself in plenty of off-field trouble, pleading guilty to aggravated assault and being slapped with a yearlong ban because of marijuana. Washington can apply for reinstatement this month.
Mar 22 - 11:11 AM

Suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington can apply for reinstatement in late March.

It's the date on which Washington can apply. His one-year ban extends to late May, at which point Washington could be formally reinstated. The Cards have said openly they're not counting on having Washington back, but they would certainly welcome him with open arms. He's a difference maker versus both the run and pass and an elite pass rusher at inside linebacker.
Feb 19 - 3:27 PM

The Cardinals aren't counting on suspended ILB Daryl Washington for 2015.

Substance-abuse violations got Washington banned for all of 2014, but he's yet to be disciplined by the league for his domestic-violence conviction. "Last year, we learned about his suspension after free agency," said team president Michael Bidwill. "This year we are going to plan to make sure we address all the issues not knowing whether Daryl will be back for part of next season or all of next season." Washington should be facing at least a six-game ban. His current year-long suspension runs through late May.
Jan 29 - 5:41 PM

Coach Bruce Arians said suspended ILB Daryl Washington has "protocols" to pass before he's reinstated, but acknowledged he'd "love" to have Washington back with the team.

Washington has had myriad off-field issues recently. He received a one-year ban for multiple failed drug tests and has yet to even face discipline from his alleged assault of his child's mother, whom Washington allegedly choked. The Cardinals could use Washington with ILB Larry Foote likely to retire.
Jan 4 - 12:53 PM

Cardinals GM Steve Keim said he hasn't talked about ILB Daryl Washington "for a minute" since his suspension.

The Cardinals are steamed at Washington for getting a year-long ban as a result of a marijuana violation. "You can accept a player being injured because that's going to happen, but when off-field issues come about, those are unacceptable," Keim said. The GM went on to say that they'll discuss bringing Washington back after the season, but sounded skeptical that he can stay out of trouble long enough to get reinstated. The league office hasn't even handed down punishment yet for the aggravated assault charges Washington plead guilty to.

The Cardinals are reportedly "fuming" over suspended ILB Daryl Washington's latest substance abuse violation, and are preparing to go after his $10 million option bonus.

The Cardinals activated Washington's $10 million bonus in March, but none of that money has actually been paid. They'll stash him on the reserve-suspended list and challenge his right to that money. It's hard to feel sympathy for the Cardinals here -- Washington was already a multiple violator of the policy at the time of the activation, and was also pleading guilty to aggravated assault charges after choking the mother of his daughter.
Mon, Jun 2, 2014 08:36:00 AM

Suspended ILB Daryl Washington revealed his minimum one-year suspension is for a marijuana violation.

Washington's 2013 four-game ban was for violating the NFL's drug test policy, so he's now a multiple violator. And to reiterate, Washington has not yet faced any league discipline for his guilty plea to felony aggravated assault. We wouldn't expect to see 27-year-old Washington playing football again anytime soon.
Fri, May 30, 2014 02:18:00 PM

NFL suspended Cardinals ILB Daryl Washington for "at least" a year for violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

FOX Sports 910 in Arizona first had the report, and it's now confirmed. The NFL announced this suspension is specifically for substance abuse violations and "unrelated to Washington’s recent plea bargain for an assault charge," which perhaps explains why the announcement was "at least" a year. (He could face further discipline.) Washington was also suspended four games in 2013 for substance abuse violations. A dynamic coverage linebacker, pass rusher, and run defender, Washington's ban is an enormous blow to Arizona's defense. They'll turn to sophomore Kevin Minter and Steelers retread Larry Foote as underwhelming replacements.
