The Bucs are hoping new DBs coach Tony Oden can get something out of former third-round pick CB Myron Lewis.
Selected No. 67 overall in the 2010 draft, Lewis has been a complete bust. The 25-year-old has recorded just 19 tackles, three pass breakups, and zero interceptions across three seasons. At 6-foot-2, 203, Lewis has prototypical size, but his toughness and compete level have been subjects of concern. He's expected to get one more chance this summer. Mar 23 - 3:55 PM

Bucs placed CB Myron Lewis on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, ending his season.

Lewis suffered the injury in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. Hamstring injuries aren't typically season-ending, but with three games remaining, the Bucs opted to clear a roster spot instead of waiting for Lewis to heal. Even though the Bucs are paper-thin at corner, Lewis made zero 2012 starts and played just 12 snaps on defense. The 2010 third-round pick is signed for $575,000 in 2013.

Bucs 2010 third-round pick Myron Lewis is in danger of missing the final cut in Tampa.

Lewis has faded "significantly" since a fast start to training camp, and UDFA Leonard Johnson played ahead of him in the Bucs' third preseason game. No longer on scholarship under Greg Schiano's coaching staff, Lewis may need a big preseason finale to make the 53. NFL final cuts take place on Friday.

The Bucs no longer view CB Myron Lewis as a starting-caliber player.

The Bucs have been "a little disappointed" in Lewis because he's struggled to return from injuries and hasn't played well enough when healthy the past two seasons. Lewis will be limited to sub-packages going forward.

The Bucs reportedly weren't "nearly as high" on CB Prince Amukamara as many believed, and it's "likely" they would have passed had he fallen one more spot in the draft.

As it turns out, the Bucs were one of many teams not all that high on Amukamara. Beat writer Stephen Holder insists the staff feels "pretty confident" in the trio of Myron Lewis, Ronde Barber, and E.J. Biggers. "Lewis, in particular, is a player the Bucs think has tremendous upside and could develop into a formidable cornerback in the near future," writes Holder.

Buccaneers signed third-round CB Myron Lewis to a four-year contract, including a $930,100 signing bonus.

The No. 67 overall pick in April, Lewis has the size and tackling skills to be a starter in the Buccaneers' Tampa-2, zone-style secondary. He's not a poor bet to unseat declining Ronde Barber as the team's first-team right corner.

Bucs third-round pick Myron Lewis will see immediate playing time at right cornerback in Tampa Bay.

The plan is for Ronde Barber to cover the slot on pass downs, with Lewis replacing him at right corner. Barber's awful play in 2009 indicates that Lewis should probably be more than the nickel back, though he'll have to earn it.

Buccaneers selected Vanderbilt CB Myron Lewis with the No. 67 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The top true "size corner" in the draft, Lewis is a legit 6-foot-2 and runs very well for his build. Also a ballhawk, Lewis had nine interceptions in his final two seasons and led the Commodores with 12 pass breakups in '09. The Bucs are needy at corner with Ronde Barber falling off a cliff. Ideally, Lewis will book end Aqib Talib in 2009 with Barber at nickel back.
