Coach Joe Philbin confirmed the Dolphins view Koa Misi as their starting middle linebacker.
There was post-season discussion of Misi moving to the strong side, but the Fins never found a suitable upgrade. Often playing hurt and missing five games in 2014, Misi managed 64 tackles and one sack. He'll be on the LB3/4 radar in IDP leagues this season, but we wouldn't view him as a high-upside pick. Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle and coach Joe Philbin both reportedly want to keep Koa Misi at middle linebacker.

Per the Miami Herald, there's a "spirited debate" inside the Dolphins about where Misi fits best. His lackluster 2014 performance in the middle suggests moving back out to the strong side might be in the team's best interest. Miami's new personnel department led by Mike Tannenbaum reportedly wants Misi at outside linebacker, and for Kelvin Sheppard to get a shot at the Mike.

Dolphins LBs Koa Misi (knee/hamstring) and Jelani Jenkins (foot) are both doubtful for Week 15 against the Patriots.

Neither is expected to play after missing every practice this week. The Dolphins were leaking rushing yards before these injuries, so they will really struggle to contain LeGarrette Blount with Misi and Jenkins sidelined. The Dolphins will turn to Kelvin Sheppard and Jason Trusnik with Misi and Jenkins out.

Dolphins declared MLB Koa Misi, RB Knowshon Moreno, C Mike Pouncey, LB Chris McCain, OG Shelley Smith, OG Billy Turner and DT Randy Starks inactive for Week 4 against the Raiders in London.

Misi is targeting a return after the Dolphins' Week 5 bye, as is Moreno (elbow). Jason Trusnik is manning the middle in Misi's absence.

Dolphins MLB Koa Misi (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 4.

The Fins will continue to start Jason Trusnik at middle linebacker, although weak-side 'backer Jelani Jenkins has emerged as the favorite for tackles in Miami.

"Barring a setback," Dolphins MLB Koa Misi (ankle) is expected to return for Week 3.

Misi missed last week's game after going down in Week 1. A strong run defender, Misi's presence will be a plus as the Dolphins' banged up linebacker corps looks to slow down the Jamaal Charles-less Chiefs.

The Dolphins hope MLB Koa Misi (ankle) can return "in a week or two."

Misi won't be active for Week 2, but it sounds like the Dolphins are hopeful he can return before the end of the month. That would be pushing it if Misi had a high-ankle sprain.

Dolphins MLB Koa Misi is "out indefinitely" with an ankle injury.

We suspect he has a high ankle sprain. Miami is suddenly without all three of its starting linebackers, as SLB Dannell Ellerbe went on I.R. following hip surgery on Monday, while WLB Phillip Wheeler is on the shelf after thumb surgery. With Buffalo on deck, this is good news for Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller.

Dolphins LB Koa Misi was forced from Miami's Week 1 game against the Patriots with an ankle injury, and will not return.

Misi went down in the first quarter, and was soon spotted in a walking boot. It's likely a high-ankle sprain, which is usually a 4-6 week injury.

Dolphins LB Koa Misi (shoulder) will not play the team's third preseason game Saturday.

It is unclear when Misi was injured. He practiced all week, so either the injury is minor, or he picked it up after the practice week was over. Jason Trusnik will start in his place. Misi's status should be updated after the game.

Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle told reporters Monday that he is pleased with Koa Misi's transition to middle linebacker.

Misi is staying on the field in sub-packages during OTAs, and has a chance to become Miami's every-down Mike 'backer, giving him serious IDP appeal. "I can't commit today that it's a done deal but I like what we're seeing," said Coyle. Dannell Ellerbe was terrible at this position in Coyle's scheme last year, but still racked up 101 tackles, two interceptions, and five pass breakups.

Koa Misi took the first reps as the Dolphins' starting middle linebacker at Tuesday's OTAs.

There was a report earlier this month from the Palm Beach Post that said Misi thought the switch to MIKE would be "too much" for him to handle mentally. It proved to be false. The Dolphins want Misi, a strong run defender, to man the inside, with high-priced vets Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler on the outside.

A Dolphins source "emphatically" told the Miami Herald that Dolphins SLB Koa Misi did not refuse a position change to middle linebacker.

The original report came from the Palm Beach Post, which -- with all due respect -- seems to be getting an awful lot of bad information lately. The PBP's story essentially claimed Misi told the Dolphins he couldn't handle the mental responsibilities associated with playing middle linebacker. For now, Misi is getting tried inside, with Dannell Ellerbe at weak-side linebacker and Philip Wheeler on the strong side. Reinforcements may be added in the draft.

A source tells the Palm Beach Post that Dolphins SLB Koa Misi thinks moving to middle linebacker would be "too much" for him to handle.

The Dolphins want to move Misi to the middle, MLB Dannell Ellerbe to the weak side, and WLB Philip Wheeler to the strong side. Misi was easily the best player of the trio last season and is nails against the run. Misi told the coaching staff he was "concerned about the added responsibilities and mental aspect of playing inside." Not really a good look. Ellerbe remains penciled in at MIKE, though the linebacker corps could get shaken up in the draft.

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins are toying with the idea of moving SLB Koa Misi to middle linebacker.

The Dolphins seem intent on getting MLB Dannell Ellerbe to one of the outside spots. Misi is an excellent run defender and can cover a little bit. At 6-foot-3 and 251 pounds, he definitely has the size to make the move. Despite earning less cash than Ellerbe and WLB Philip Wheeler, Misi is easily Miami's best 'backer.
