Dolphins LB Koa Misi was "detained" following a weekend nightclub brawl in Fort Lauderdale, but not arrested.
Misi allegedly struck someone in the head before struggling to be subdued by police. He was released without being arrested after the alleged victim declined to press charges. It's a silly, regrettable incident, but it doesn't sound like much in the way of legal problems is going to come from it. May 26 - 2:45 PM

Dolphins VP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum said Koa Misi could be moved to middle linebacker.

Misi is currently penciled on the strong side. He would move inside if Miami adds an outside linebacker. Misi played the MIKE role in 2014, but isn’t more than a short-term option.

Dolphins restructured SLB Koa Misi's contract.

Misi was due a $4.4 million cap hit. His restructure should free up money to sign transition-tagged RE Olivier Vernon. Misi had 77 tackles last year and will return on the strong side.

Dolphins SLB Koa Misi is a potential salary cap casualty.

The Dolphins can save $3.72 million in cap space by releasing Misi in March, or $4.3 million if they designate him a post-June 1 cut. Misi is a strong run defender with some sneaky pass-rush ability, but he's a liability in pass coverage and has missed eight games the past two seasons. Misi simply isn't worth his scheduled $4.375 million in salary and bonuses.

Dolphins placed SLB Koa Misi on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season.

Misi was having a decent season after shifting over from the middle. One month shy of his 29th birthday, the injury-prone Misi is due $4.275 million next season. He could have to renegotiate or take a pay cut.

Dolphins SLB Koa Misi (abdomen) is active for Week 11 against the Cowboys.

WLB Jelani Jenkins (ankle) is inactive, however. Even with Darren McFadden battling a groin injury, the Dolphins are going to have major issues slowing him down. Also inactive for the Dolphins are RT Ja'Wuan James, CB Tony Lippett, TE Jake Stoneburner, WR Matt Hazel, OT Ulrick John and LB Spencer Paysinger.

Koa Misi will be the Dolphins' starting strong-side linebacker this season.

The Fins wanted high-end athlete Chris McCain to earn the gig, but he couldn't cut it. Misi is moving from middle linebacker, where two-down thumper Kelvin Sheppard has taken over. We suspect the Dolphins' two nickel backers will be Misi and WLB Jelani Jenkins, though they could also just use one linebacker in the majority of subpackages and insert an extra defensive back.

Koa Misi said he has improved as a middle linebacker this offseason.

Misi played in the middle for the first time in his career last season after spending four years on the outside. Despite missing five games due to injury, Misi recorded 66 tackles and showed well in coverage. With Ndamukong Suh taking up blockers in front of him, Misi could take a step forward this year.

Dolphins MLB Koa Misi believes he'll have more room to operate playing behind Ndamukong Suh.

"[Suh] takes up another guy, so basically it allows us to move around a little bit better," Misi described. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said Misi looks "more comfortable" this offseason after battling hamstring issues throughout 2014. He finished last season as PFF's 12th overall inside linebacker.

Coach Joe Philbin confirmed the Dolphins view Koa Misi as their starting middle linebacker.

There was post-season discussion of Misi moving to the strong side, but the Fins never found a suitable upgrade. Often playing hurt and missing five games in 2014, Misi managed 64 tackles and one sack. He'll be on the LB3/4 radar in IDP leagues this season, but we wouldn't view him as a high-upside pick.

Dolphins DC Kevin Coyle and coach Joe Philbin both reportedly want to keep Koa Misi at middle linebacker.

Per the Miami Herald, there's a "spirited debate" inside the Dolphins about where Misi fits best. His lackluster 2014 performance in the middle suggests moving back out to the strong side might be in the team's best interest. Miami's new personnel department led by Mike Tannenbaum reportedly wants Misi at outside linebacker, and for Kelvin Sheppard to get a shot at the Mike.

Dolphins LBs Koa Misi (knee/hamstring) and Jelani Jenkins (foot) are both doubtful for Week 15 against the Patriots.

Neither is expected to play after missing every practice this week. The Dolphins were leaking rushing yards before these injuries, so they will really struggle to contain LeGarrette Blount with Misi and Jenkins sidelined. The Dolphins will turn to Kelvin Sheppard and Jason Trusnik with Misi and Jenkins out.

Dolphins declared MLB Koa Misi, RB Knowshon Moreno, C Mike Pouncey, LB Chris McCain, OG Shelley Smith, OG Billy Turner and DT Randy Starks inactive for Week 4 against the Raiders in London.

Misi is targeting a return after the Dolphins' Week 5 bye, as is Moreno (elbow). Jason Trusnik is manning the middle in Misi's absence.

Dolphins MLB Koa Misi (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 4.

The Fins will continue to start Jason Trusnik at middle linebacker, although weak-side 'backer Jelani Jenkins has emerged as the favorite for tackles in Miami.
Fri, Sep 26, 2014 01:10:00 PM

"Barring a setback," Dolphins MLB Koa Misi (ankle) is expected to return for Week 3.

Misi missed last week's game after going down in Week 1. A strong run defender, Misi's presence will be a plus as the Dolphins' banged up linebacker corps looks to slow down the Jamaal Charles-less Chiefs.
