Bears signed WR/KR Armanti Edwards.
Edwards, the 89th pick in the 2010 draft, appeared in six games with the Panthers and Browns last season, catching one pass for ten yards and returning four punts for 28 yards. He has just six career grabs for 131 yards across 41 games. Edwards has never shown to be a dynamic returner. He'll compete for a spot. Jun 3 - 3:21 PM

Free agent WR/KR Armanti Edwards is working out for the Seahawks.

The No. 89 overall pick of the 2010 draft, Edwards was essentially out of the league last season. He was waived after four catch-less games with the Panthers, and placed on injured reserve after three weeks in Cleveland. A workout warrior who's never shown anything on an NFL field, Edwards would be a camp body for the world-champion Seahawks.

Browns placed WR Armanti Edwards (ankle) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Former Panthers offensive coordinator turned Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski gave Edwards a second chance at glory, but it ends with a thud. The former third-round pick ends up with one catch for 10 yards and four punt returns for 28 yards on the season. Edwards now has a total of six receptions in his four-year career.

Browns signed WR Armanti Edwards.

The longtime passion project of the Panthers, Edwards will presumably get a crack at nailing down injured return specialist Travis Benjamin's (torn ACL) role. Edwards shouldn't see time on offense, while his stay on the roster might not last long. Edwards has ties to Rob Chudzinski from Carolina.

Panthers waived WR Armanti Edwards.

Just like 2012, 2011 and 2010 before it, 2013 was not the breakout year for the No. 89 overall pick of the 2010 draft. Edwards will go down as one of the biggest busts of former Panthers GM Marty Hurney's comically poor drafting tenure. Edwards has just five catches in 39 career games, and has shown nothing on special teams. He's going to draw scant interest on the open market.

The Charlotte Observer believes Panthers WR Armanti Edwards' roster spot is safe even though he's missed over a week with a hamstring injury.

Edwards' name has been synonymous with "bust" since he was the No. 89 overall pick of the 2010 draft, but he was coming on strong in camp before going down. The Panthers must sincerely believe the light bulb has come on if they're willing to keep Edwards even though he'll likely only appear in one preseason game. Even if Edwards eventually settles in as Carolina's No. 3 receiver, he's off the fantasy radar.

Panthers WR Armanti Edwards has been sidelined over a week with a hamstring injury.

We wouldn't typically blurb up a soft-tissue injury for a chronic underachiever during camp, but Edwards was making noise before going down. Coach Ron Rivera went as far as to call Edwards his "camp MVP." Now Edwards is back on the bubble. He desperately needs to suit up for Thursday's regular season dress rehearsal.

Coach Ron Rivera calls WR Armanti Edwards the Panthers' "training camp MVP."

Oh boy. A gifted athlete, Edwards has always lit up practice. It's once things start going full speed in games that he struggles. Although Edwards has earned consistent plaudits for his performance this summer, it's worth noting that Rivera made similar comments last year. Edwards went on to catch just five passes. We're still not sure he's guaranteed a roster spot.

Coach Ron Rivera said Armanti Edwards has a "real chance" to be the No. 3 receiver.

"[The] big question is him catching in traffic," Rivera said. "We'll see in the preseason games." This has been Edwards' best offseason of his four-year career, and the Charlotte Observer reported in June that he was finally "beginning to look like an NFL receiver." Edwards is competing with Ted Ginn and Domenik Hixon for No. 3 duties behind Steve Smith and Brandon LaFell.

The Charlotte Observer believes Armanti Edwards is "beginning to look like an NFL receiver," and expects him to keep his roster spot.

Better late than never? Edwards has done absolutely nothing through his first three NFL seasons, but is apparently "running fluid routes and catching the ball in traffic." That's all good and well, but pad-less practices have always been when Edwards shines. We're highly skeptical he'll suddenly be a productive player in 2013, and don't consider his roster spot cinched up.

Coach Ron Rivera says Armanti Edwards has been the "most improved" receiver after OTAs and minicamp.

"Probably the guy who’s really improved the most during these OTAs and minicamp has been Armanti," Rivera said. "He made a couple really nice plays. His development has been really key for us as well." Edwards will have to keep it up during training camp and preseason, but it sounds like he'll keep his job.

The Charlotte Observer now considers Panthers WR/KR Armanti Edwards likely to make the team "with no problem."

The Observer is reversing course on Edwards, who they believed was "hard to see a spot for," just three weeks ago. Edwards has been a major flop since being taken in the third round of the 2010 draft, but may finally be turning a corner after stringing together multiple impressive practices. It's an encouraging sign for a Panthers receiving corps short on talent, but we won't hold our breath on Edwards emerging as a fantasy factor.

The Charlotte Observer thinks it's "hard to see a spot" for WR/KR Armanti Edwards on the Panthers.

The Panthers signed WRs Ted Ginn and Domenik Hixon, and both players can return kicks and punts. Edwards finally caught his first pass as a pro last season, totaling five catches for 121 yards. He's been a major flop since being taken in the third round of the 2010 draft. Edwards will almost certainly be cut.
Wed, May 22, 2013 11:00:00 AM

The Charlotte Observer believes the signing of KR/WR Ted Ginn "could spell the end" of Armanti Edwards' time with the Panthers.

Edwards should have been released a year ago, but former GM Marty Hurney couldn't pull the trigger on one of his many draft blunders. Edwards had his "best" season in 2012, but has never been a reliable play-maker since being the No. 89 pick of the 2010 draft. He'll likely be cut loose in short order.

Panthers WR Armanti Edwards (groin) is listed as questionable on the Week 11 injury report.

Edwards was downgraded from probable on Saturday, which doesn't bode well for his chances of playing in the Panthers' Week 11 divisional game against the Bucs. Edwards saw minimal action for most of the season, but did play 17 snaps in last week's loss to the Broncos. He has three catches for 103 yards on the season, and is well off the fantasy radar.
