Redskins LG Shawn Lauvao sustained a concussion in Sunday's Week 11 loss to the Bucs.
Lauvao is in a race to get cleared ahead of Sunday's game at San Francisco. His backup is Josh LeRibeus. It's a major concern for the Redskins as stud LT Trent Williams (knee, ankle) is almost certainly out. Tue, Nov 18, 2014 10:11:00 AM

Redskins LG Shawn Lauvao (knee) is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Giants.

Lauvao has been dealing with right-knee issues for each of the past two weeks. Josh LeRibeus will fill in against the Giants if Lauvao can't go.

The Redskins plan to use Shawn Lauvao at left guard.

For now, at least, undersized Chris Chester is staying at right guard, with Kory Lichtensteiger penciled in lightly at center. Lauvao was a right guard in Cleveland, but struggled there and the Skins apparently believe he'll be better off playing next to LT Trent Williams. Lauvao's contract was among free agency's biggest head scratchers, receiving $17 million over four years.

Redskins signed G Shawn Lauvao for four years, $17 million.

Lauvao missed the beginning of last season with an ankle injury, but was an every down player for the Browns beginning Week 5. He struggled as a run blocker in 2013, but has been a solid blocker in his career and should add beef to a smallish Washington offensive line.

ESPN Cleveland does not expect free agent G Shawn Lauvao back with the Browns.

Lauvao missed the beginning of last season due to an ankle injury. He was an every-down player from Week 5 on, but struggled badly as a run blocker and gave up 18 quarterback hurries along with four sacks. New offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan prefers smaller, more agile linemen to execute his zone-blocking scheme. Lauvao is our No. 10 free agent guard available.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is hoping to make his season debut against the Bills Thursday.

Lauvao sustained a true high ankle sprain roughly two months ago. He was able to split first-team reps with fill-in starter Oniel Cousins on Monday. Getting Cousins out of the lineup would be fantastic news for the entire Browns offense. He's graded out as PFF's No. 68 guard among 70 qualifiers through four weeks.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) returned to practice Wednesday.

It's his first full practice of the season. Lauvao missed three games after undergoing ankle surgery in early August, but is now on track to play in Week 4. He'll immediately regain his starting job from fill-in Oniel Cousins.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is inactive for Week 3 against the Vikings.

With Lauvao sidelined, struggling fill-in RG Oniel Cousins will continue to start. The rest of the Browns inactives are QB Brandon Weeden, OLB Quentin Groves, DT Armonty Bryant, OL Martin Wallace, and TE Keavon Milton. Ahtyba Rubin (calf) is active for the first time this season.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 3.

Perhaps he'll return in Week 4. Lauvao was initially expected to play against the Vikings, but didn't make enough progress during the practice week. The Browns will continue to struggle up front with Oniel Cousins at right guard.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer expects RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) to return in Week 3 against the Vikings.

Lauvao has already been ruled out for Sunday's game, but is on track to return this month. The Browns will go with struggling backup Oneil Cousins for at least one more week. Lauvao will serve as a much needed upgrade in run-blocking when healthy.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) will not practice Wednesday or Thursday.

It doesn't look like Lauvao will be ready for Sunday's game against the Ravens and that is awful news for the Browns. Backup Oneil Cousins turned in an epically atrocious performance in Week 1, committing four penalties and serving as a turnstile in the run game. Lauvao, who has been out of his walking boot for about a week, can't get back soon enough.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao (ankle) is "still on schedule," according to coach Rob Chudzinski.

Lauvao was expected to miss 2-3 regular season games after undergoing a scope in early August. With Jason Pinkston (ankle) on short-term injured reserve, Oniel Cousins will start at right guard against the Dolphins Sunday.

Updating a previous item, Browns OG Shawn Lauvao is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing an ankle scope Friday.

Lauvao will miss the rest of the preseason and possibly two or three regular season contests. Following the injury, he's no longer in the mix to start; Jason Pinkston will man right guard while John Greco anchors the left side. Seventh-rounder Garrett Gilkey will try to win the right to back them up early on.

Browns OG Shawn Lauvao is not expected to be ready for Week 1 after having his ankle scoped Friday.

This ends Cleveland's guard competition; Jason Pinkston and John Greco will be the starters. Lauvao started all 16 games last season at right guard. His loss deals a depth blow, but Pinkston and Greco are solid first-teamers.

Browns RG Shawn Lauvao was carted off the field with an ankle injury during Monday's training camp practice.

Lauvao's leg buckled in a one-on-one pass-rush drill versus NT Phil Taylor. Lauvao had been running as the first-team right guard throughout camp, but the injury now opens the door for starter-turned-backup Jason Pinkston.
