Lauvao is working with the first-team offense, so he should be good to go for this week's game against the 49ers' stout run defense. The Browns' rushing attack is hands-off for fantasy purposes this week.

Coach Pat Shurmur confirmed that Shawn Lauvao will be the Browns' starting right guard this season.

"I think he's having a terrific camp," said Shurmur. "We hope he just progresses like he's been doing, through the rest of this camp and then that will be the case." The 92nd pick in last year's draft, Lauvao struggled in his one game as a starter last year. He's a total projection from a performance standpoint.

Lauvao was expected to serve as the backup right guard after failing to beat out Pork Chop Womack in training camp. Still, the job will likely be Lauvao's once he returns to full health. Womack is a replacement-level blocker.

Browns agreed to terms with third-round OG Shawn Lauvao on a four-year contract, including a $697,000 signing bonus.

Lauvao saw action at both tackle spots in 33 consecutive starts at Arizona State, but the Browns will kick him inside as a pro. Though he's the future at right guard, Lauvao will enter training camp as the underdog against veteran Pork Chop Womack for the Week 1 starting job.

An All-Conference selection last year and a three-year starter at both tackle spots, Lauvao is likely ticketed for a move to guard in the NFL. Athletic with quick feet and a nasty attitude, Lauvao is the future at right guard. With Hank Fraley and Rex Hadnot both departing, the Browns have only Pork Chop Womack remaining for competition.
