Mike Johnson has been working as the first-team right tackle at OTAs.
In the battle to replace Tyson Clabo, Johnson has his nose in front of Lamar Holmes. Perhaps the Falcons prefer the more efficient pass blocker over the heavier, mauling Holmes. The competition will continue into training camp. Jun 6 - 12:39 PM

Fox Sports South thinks Mike Johnson "could be the favorite" to start at right tackle for the Falcons this season.

This directly contradicts the Falcons' official site, which opined that second-year pro Lamar Holmes is "penciled in" on the right side after Tyson Clabo's release. Johnson and Holmes are different players. Holmes is more of a mauler, while Johnson is lighter on his feet at 304 pounds. Neither will be handed the job.

Falcons placed OG Mike Johnson (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 2010 third-rounder has been a disappointment through a year and a half, beaten out by Garrett Reynolds for the starting right guard job after training camp. There's no word yet on the nature of Johnson's injury.

Falcons OG Mike Johnson (concussion) returned to practice on Sunday.

Johnson missed a little over a week of action. Johnson's injury appears to have won Garrett Reynolds the Falcons' starting right guard job, but the 2010 third-round pick should provide depth along the offensive line after being active zero times as a rookie last season.

Falcons OG Mike Johnson has been diagnosed with a concussion.

Johnson is competing with Garrett Reynolds to replace Harvey Dahl as the Falcons' starting right guard. This would certainly seem to give Reynolds a leg up.

Falcons rookie OG Mike Johnson's undisclosed injury is believed to be a sprained knee.

He's only expected to miss "a week or so," so it appears an MRI revealed no ligament damage. A third-round pick out of Alabama, Johnson is battling Jose Valdez and Blake Schlueter to be the Falcons' top backup at guard.

Falcons rookie OG Mike Johnson is out indefinitely with an undisclosed injury sustained in Monday's practice.

The Thomas Dimitroff-run Falcons try to be Patriots-like when it comes to injuries, so we don't know the area or the extent. According to FOX Sports' Adam Caplan, however, "some players felt he could be out a while." Johnson is a versatile rookie. His loss would sting following the Quinn Ojinnaka trade.

Falcons signed third-round OG Mike Johnson to a four-year contract.

The offensive line leader for the national champion Crimson Tide, Johnson has the ability to play tackle, guard, and center. The Falcons will keep him at guard, where he'll succeed Justin Blalock or Harvey Dahl (2011 free agents). Blalock is on the hot seat after a poor showing in 2009.

Falcons selected Alabama OG Mike Johnson with the No. 98 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

A three-year starter at Alabama, Johnson earned All-America honors as a senior. Not a great athlete and possessing just average strength, Johnson makes up for his weaknesses with solid technique and a high football IQ. The Falcons will groom him to replace either Justin Blalock or Harvey Dahl, both of whom are free agents in 2011.
