Jets signed ILB A.J. Edds and G/T Markus Zusevics.

Both players are former Iowa Hawkeyes who've spent time with the Patriots in the past, but have also been plagued by early-career injuries. Edds is an athletic inside 'backer with special teams value. He'll fight for a roster spot.

Patriots waived LB A.J. Edds, OG R.J. Mattes and DT Scott Vallone.

Edds is the only notable name. A 2010 fourth-round pick of the Dolphins, Edds appeared in 11 games between the Colts and Patriots in 2011, but spent 2012 on injured reserve with a torn ACL. He's facing long odds of latching on elsewhere.

Patriots LB A.J. Edds (knee) is expected to be ready for training camp.

Edds spent all of 2012 on injured reserve and is 10 months removed from ACL surgery. A fourth-round pick in 2010, Edds will need to prove he's healthy to have a chance of winning a spot on the 53-man roster. He doesn't have any guaranteed money in his one-year, $480,000 deal.

Patriots signed LB A.J. Edds, formerly of the Colts.

Colts placed LB A.J. Edds (ACL tear) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Edds tore his right ACL as a fourth-round rookie in 2010; this injury is to his left knee. Claimed off waivers from the Patriots last September, Edds appeared in 11 games as a special teamer last season.

Colts LB A.J. Edds left Thursday's game in the first quarter with an ankle injury.

It could be an aggravation, as the special teamer was listed on the injury report with an ankle ailment this week. He was ruled out for the game in the third quarter.

Colts LB A.J. Edds (concussion) has been cleared to play this week.

Colts signed LB A.J. Edds off the Patriots' practice squad.

Edds was drafted to play inside in the Dolphins' 3-4 defense, but projects as a strong-side backer in a 4-3 scheme like Indianapolis'. A fourth-round pick in 2010, Edds will try to earn playing time by working on special teams.

Patriots waived LB A.J. Edds.

Edds was plucked off the waiver wire from the Dolphins before the Pats' Week 1 showdown at Miami. As a nickel linebacker prospect and special teamer, he should garner interest as a waiver claim.

Patriots claimed LB A.J. Edds off waivers from the Dolphins.

Perhaps not so coincidentally, the two teams square off this week. The Dolphins were high on Edds as a nickel backer coming out of Iowa, but he was a luxury behind quality coverage linebackers Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett.

Dolphins waived LB A.J. Edds and OL Joe Berger.

Edds racked up 18 tackles and a sack in the preseason, and the Fins were said to be high on him coming out of Iowa as a 2010 fourth-round pick. Perhaps he lost a step after missing his first year with a torn ACL. The Dolphins will move forward with Marvin Mitchell and Austin Spitler behind starters Karlos Dansby and Kevin Burnett. Edds should generate interest on waivers.

Dolphins ILB A.J. Edds (knee surgery) is expected to push Channing Crowder for playing time at inside linebacker next season.

Edds tore his right ACL early in training camp last season. With Crowder coming off a down year, it's certainly reasonable that the two could form some kind of timeshare. Edds was projected as a nickel linebacker out of Iowa.

Dolphins rookie ILB A.J. Edds, placed on injured reserve two weeks ago, underwent surgery to repair his torn right ACL on Tuesday.

The operation was performed by Dr. James Andrews. It's believed there "wasn't damage that would trigger an elongated rehabilitation period," so Edds figures to be healthy for 2011 OTAs. His role, however, will be uncertain.
