Ben Volin of the Boston Globe said TE Clay Harbor "better watch out" after A.J. Derby's strong showing in Thursday's preseason opener against the Saints.
Derby snared three catches for 47 yards while Harbor came up empty on his lone target. It looked like Harbor's roster spot was safe after the Pats lost blocking tight end Michael Williams to a torn ACL but now he may have to watch his back with Derby coming on strong. Both are hoping to land a job as the No. 3 tight end behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett. Aug 14 - 9:33 AM

Patriots TE/OT Michael Williams' torn ACL could open the door for Clay Harbor to make the 53-man roster.

Williams had a good chance to make the team as a blocking tight end. Harbor offers a different skill set, but coach Bill Belichick values Harbor's versatility. An athletic receiving tight end with a history of inconsistency and durability woes, Harbor is vying for work behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett.

Patriots signed TE Clay Harbor, formerly of the Jaguars.

Harbor made three starts filling in for Julius Thomas last year, but spent most of the season as Jacksonville's No. 3 tight end. He'll give the Patriots an H-back behind Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett. Harbor had sports-hernia surgery this offseason, but should be ready for OTAs.

Free agent TE Clay Harbor will visit the Patriots on Thursday.

Harbor spent last season as the Jags' third-string tight end behind Julius Thomas and Marcedes Lewis. The Patriots need a backup for Rob Gronkowski after cutting Scott Chandler last week. Free agent running backs James Starks and Benny Cunningham are also in town for visits.
Mar 10 - 3:56 PM

Jaguars TE Clay Harbor underwent sports-hernia surgery on Thursday.

Headed to the open market, Harbor should be healthy for the start of free agency in March. Harbor caught just 14 passes in 2015, his sixth NFL season.
Jan 7 - 4:37 PM

Clay Harbor caught his lone target for 18 yards in the Jaguars' Week 17 loss to the Texans.

Harbor's third season in a Jaguars uniform ends with 14 grabs for 149 yards and a score. With the Jags reportedly wanting to re-sign Marcedes Lewis behind Julius Thomas, there's no guarantee impending free agent Harbor will be back.
Jan 3 - 7:01 PM

Clay Harbor caught 3-of-5 targets for 43 yards and one touchdown in the Jaguars' Week 3 loss to the Patriots.

They were Harbor's first catches of the season. His six-yard score came late in the fourth quarter when the Jaguars were trailing by 41 points. Harbor isn't even remotely on the fantasy radar. Julius Thomas (hand) should be back soon.

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said the team will keep using two tight ends despite the hand injury to Julius Thomas.

Even with Thomas out this preseason, the Jaguars have continued to use two tight ends in their base formation. This is good news for Clay Harbor, who should slot into Thomas' spot while he is out the first three weeks of the season. Harbor averaged 3.5 catches a game while Marcedes Lewis was sidelined last season.

Jaguars TE Clay Harbor missed most of OTAs due to a calf injury.

Injuries have often plagued the athletic yet underperforming Harbor. He'll compete to be Julius Thomas' backup at training camp.

Clay Harbor was held without a catch in the Jaguars' Week 17 loss to the Texans.

Harbor was an every-down player from Weeks 4-10 while Marcedes Lewis was on I.R./recall. Once Lewis was back healthy, Harbor returned to the bench and only played about 15 snaps per game down the stretch. He has good hands and is a plus athlete. If the Jaguars decide to cut Lewis, Harbor could return as the No. 1 tight end in 2015, the final year of his contract. Either way, look for the Jaguars to address the tight end position in the offseason.

Jaguars TE Clay Harbor played six snaps in Week 12.

He's been demoted far down the depth chart with Marcedes Lewis back healthy. "I'm the No. 3 now," said Harbor. "I was surprised by it. It was hard. My role is now on special teams." He's safe to drop in 20-team leagues.

Clay Harbor was held without a catch in the Jaguars' Week 9 loss to the Bengals.

Harbor was targeted twice on the afternoon and exited briefly with an elbow injury. It just wasn't in the cards for Harbor, even in a tasty matchup against a Bengals defense minus WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) and MLB Rey Maualuga (hamstring). Harbor will be worth streaming consideration again in Week 10 against the Cowboys, but he's not an option for the faint of heart.

The Florida Times Union believes it would be in the Jaguars' best interest to use more two-tight end sets when Mercedes Lewis (ankle) returns from short-term I.R.

Clay Harbor has posted a couple solid stat lines as Blake Bortles' security blanket in Lewis' absence. Harbor isn't much of a blocker, while Lewis is a stud in-line tight end. If the Jaguars choose to feature more two-tight looks, it could mean fewer snaps for rookie No. 3 receiver Allen Hurns. Allen Robinson and Cecil Shorts are entrenched as the Nos. 1 and 2 receivers.

Clay Harbor caught 2-of-4 targets for 27 yards in Jacksonville's Week 8 loss to the Dolphins.

Harbor never had a chance to get going as Blake Bortles struggled. Harbor is capable of nice games, but is mostly a daily-league dart throw for fantasy purposes. He's a low-end TE2 in re-draft formats.
Sun, Oct 26, 2014 06:48:00 PM

Clay Harbor secured 6-of-6 targets for 34 yards in the Jaguars' Week 7 win over the Browns.

Whereas Harbor caught a downfield dime for a 59-yard touchdown from Blake Bortles last week, he was back to running routes around the line of scrimmage in this one. Harbor has settled in as a shaky week-to-week TE1 streamer. He will be more of a TE2 when Jacksonville takes on the Dolphins in Week 8.
