Bears acquired CB Sherrick McManis from the Texans in exchange for FB Tyler Clutts.

McManis, a local product out of Northwestern, will be depth in the secondary for Chicago. He brings 23 games of NFL experience to the table.

A fifth-round pick from Northwestern, McManis finishes his first year with 13 tackles and an interception despite playing sparingly on defense. He was highly productive in kickoff coverage. The Texans' cornerback jobs should be up for grabs in 2011, so McManis figures to have a shot at a big role.

Texans agreed to terms with fifth-round CB Sherrick McManis on a four-year, $1.982 million contract.

After losing top corner Dunta Robinson in free agency, the Texans used their first-round pick on CB Kareem Jackson and then added more depth with McManis. McManis will compete for snaps as a nickel/dime back.

McManis was a three-year starter at cornerback in the Big-10, earning All-Conference honors as a senior. Though he returned kicks in college, his top-end speed is lacking. The Texans will try to develop him as a nickel/dime back.
