Eagles CB Nolan Carroll has been impressive during spring practices.
A press-man corner by trade, Carroll does not have a ton of experience playing the off coverage required during non-contact practices. That lack of experience makes his stellar play all the more impressive and lends credence to the idea that Carroll could be even better once the pads come on in training camp. Carroll has a real shot to beat out Cary Williams for the starting cornerback job. Jun 21 - 12:40 PM

Eagles new CB Nolan Carroll expects to compete for a starting job in 2014.

"Coach (Chip) Kelly told me I’ll come in and compete for a starting spot," Carroll said. Carroll's size and press coverage skills fit well in Philadelphia, and he has the talent to beat out the underwhelming Cary Williams, though it is more likely Carroll serves a sub-package corner to start the season. Either way, Carroll adds solid depth to a secondary bereft of it in 2013.
Mar 15 - 1:19 PM

Eagles signed CB Nolan Carroll to a two-year, $5.2 million contract.

It's a solid depth add for the Eagles secondary. We don't expect Carroll to beat out Cary Williams or Bradley Fletcher for a starting gig, but they could certainly do worse at the No. 3 outside corner spot (Brandon Boykin only plays inside). The 6'1/205 Carroll started 12 games for the Dolphins last year, grading out in the middle of PFF's cornerback ranks.

Free agent CB Nolan Carroll will visit the Bills.

It will be Carroll's first trip of free agency. He's been linked to several teams the past week, but we doubt his market will be scorching hot. Carroll knows the division, and the Bills have a need for corner depth.
Mar 11 - 4:08 PM

The 49ers are among the teams showing interest in free agent CB Nolan Carroll.

We're beginning to think Carroll has the best agent in the biz', considering he's not an especially effective player but multiple "reports" have claimed various teams want him. He's also been linked to the Vikings, Steelers, and Dolphins, among others. The Niners are needy at corner after cutting Carlos Rogers.
Mar 10 - 4:49 PM

The Steelers are among the teams that have inquired about CB Nolan Carroll.

As are the 49ers. Carroll would be a weak add as a No. 2 or 3 corner opposite Ike Taylor, who is expected to take a pay cut and stick in Pittsburgh. Carroll started 12 games for the Dolphins last season, routinely getting roasted in coverage.
Mar 10 - 11:03 AM

The St. Paul Pioneer Press reports the Vikings are expected to pursue free agent CB Nolan Carroll.

Minnesota's new defensive coordinator George Edwards was the Dolphins' LBs coach last season and knows Carroll. Miami would like to re-sign Carroll, but he wants starter money and is fully expected to test the open market. The Vikings need a No. 2 corner to pair with Xavier Rhodes. Carroll shouldn't be expensive.
Mar 5 - 2:35 PM

CBS' Jason La Canfora reports the Dolphins are interested in re-signing free agent CB Nolan Carroll, but that he plans to test the open market.

La Canfora reports the sides met at the Combine. Now 27, Carroll started 12-of-16 games last season, ringing up 47 tackles and three picks. Carroll graded out as the No. 52 cornerback in Pro Football Focus' ratings, and is just No. 25 in Rotoworld's free-agent cornerback ranks.
Feb 24 - 5:15 PM

Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll was forced from Sunday's game against the Patriots with a knee injury.

Carroll briefly played through the injury in the fourth quarter, but checked back out a series later. It's bad news for a team also missing Brent Grimes (undisclosed). Tom Brady is picking Miami's backups apart. Carroll's injury clearly isn't major, but he should still be considered questionable for Week 16.

Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll (concussion) practiced Wednesday.

Carroll was cleared to practice after passing his concussion protocol. He'll be available as Miami's No. 3 corner for Monday night's game against the Bucs.

Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll suffered a concussion in Thursday night's Week 9 game against the Bengals.

He's out for the game. With Will Davis sidelined, the Dolphins are going with Jimmy Wilson in nickel packages.

Dolphins CB Nolan Carroll was forced from Sunday's Week 5 game against the Ravens with a rib injury.

Carroll was injured in the third quarter after he was flagged for a 38-yard pass interference. He's questionable to return. With Carroll sidelined, the Dolphins will go with rookie Jamar Taylor opposite Brent Grimes.

Dolphins declared CB Nolan Carroll (knee) inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills.

Carroll practiced on a limited basis Friday, but isn't ready to return after leaving last week's game with a knee injury. He'll be replaced by Dimitri Patterson in the starting lineup. Also inactive for the Dolphins are QB Pat Devlin, DT Kheeston Randall, TE Kyle Miller, OT Patrick Brown, WR Davone Bess, and LB Koa Misi. Third-round pick TE Michael Egnew is active for the first time this season.

Dolphins RCB Nolan Carroll exited Sunday's Week 15 game with a second-quarter knee injury.

Replacement R.J. Stanford promptly got beat for a would-be touchdown catch by Justin Blackmon, although it was called back.
Sun, Dec 16, 2012 02:00:00 PM

Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said RCB Nolan Carroll needs to play better.

Carroll was abused last Thursday night in Buffalo to the tune of four penalties for 76 yards. "These guys that have been in the league, they're professionals. They know their job's on the line... (Carroll)'s aware of what he needs to do and things he needs to do better." Carroll was primarily a special teams player prior to 2012, but with the trade of Vontae Davis and a season-ending back injury to Richard Marshall, he's been thrust into a starting role. Miami has just four corners on the roster, and there's nobody else to really turn to.
