Rams signed DT Cam Thomas, formerly of the Steelers.
Thomas didn't generate much interest on the open market, though he did visit the Seahawks at the beginning of free agency. The 29-year-old contributed 11 tackles in 16 games for Pittsburgh last year. He gives the Rams some depth at defensive tackle behind starters Aaron Donald and Michael Brockers. Jun 6 - 5:20 PM

Free agent DE Cam Thomas will visit the Seahawks on Thursday.

It's his first visit. The Seahawks may view him as a replacement for Brandon Mebane, who just inked a three-year deal with San Diego. Thomas logged 201 snaps last year while backing up Stephon Tuitt and Steve McLendon. The Seahawks are also said to be pursuing DE Chris Clemons, who played in Seattle from 2010-13.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette considers Steelers DE Cam Thomas a candidate for release.

Thomas was a bust last season, losing his spot at left end to Stephon Tuitt. The Steelers have been ruthless with veterans this offseason, canning Brett Keisel while trying to shame Troy Polamalu into retirement. Ben Roethlisberger's enormous new contract won't help Thomas' chances of staying. His contract expires after 2015.

Cam Thomas is currently penciled in as the Steelers' starting left end.

Thomas was a 3-4 nose tackle with San Diego, but the Steelers plan to use him at five-technique end opposite Cameron Heyward. Still only 27 years old, Thomas offers some upside as a two-gap lineman whose primary responsibility will be run stopping. He likely won't play on passing downs. The Steelers lean on their linebackers and Dick LeBeau's zone blitzes to create pressure.

The Steelers plan to use Cam Thomas at five-technique defensive end.

Thomas played nose tackle at North Carolina and with the Chargers, but the Steelers envision him as a two-gap space eater at left end. Thomas was an inconsistent run defender in San Diego, but has never lacked talent and is only 27. Steve McLendon will stay at nose tackle. Cam Heyward is the other end.

Steelers signed NT Cam Thomas, formerly of the Chargers, to a two-year, $4 million contract.

It was Thomas' only visit of free agency. He appeared in all 16 games in 2013, starting ten, and made 23 tackles. Thomas is best against the run but isn't a game changer and doesn't generate much pressure as a pass rusher. His addition could force NT Steve McLendon to one of the end spots, replacing departed Ziggy Hood.

The Steelers will host free agent NT Cam Thomas on Friday.

Thomas has never lacked talent, but his consistency has been a huge issue in the pros, and he was benched late last season for Sean Lissemore. If you've never head of Lissemore, we don't blame you. Thomas is 27 years old.

Chargers NT Cam Thomas has lost his starting job to Sean Lissemore.

Thomas has started ten games this season, but he and Lissemore have been rotating. The Chargers are surrendering 115.8 yards on the ground per game, good for the No. 19 spot in the league. 27-year-old Thomas, who is in a contract year, has graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 56 defensive tackle out of 69 qualifiers. Lissemore was acquired from the Cowboys in the summer.

The Chargers have "penciled in" Cam Thomas as the team's starting nose tackle.

Thomas has started just five games in his short career, but veterans Antonio Garay and Aubrayo Franklin are no longer sporting powder blue. It's Thomas' turn. The 6-foot-4, 335-pound behemoth could be looking at a nice pay day if he shows well in his new role. Thomas has one year left on his rookie deal. He'll be flanked by Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes on the defensive line.

Chargers NT Cam Thomas' 2013 base salary increased from $575,000 to $1.323 million after he hit escalators in his rookie deal.

Thomas has started just five games in his career, but he's been an important rotational lineman who has shown the ability to put pressure on the quarterback. He has 47 career tackles to go with six sacks. Thomas was a fifth-round pick out of North Carolina in 2010, and is entering the final year of his contract.

Rookie DT Cam Thomas notched his first career sack in Week 11 against Denver.

Thomas has been active for just three games this season but has already flashed the ability that had scouts projecting him as a second or third round pick. Plucked up in the fifth round, Thomas has emerged as a legit run stuffer and the longterm option to replace former NT Jamal Williams.

Chargers signed fifth-round DT Cam Thomas to a four-year, $1.981 million contract.

A first-day talent who slipped to the fifth round, Thomas could not have landed in a better situation. With Jamal Williams and 2009 starter Ian Scott gone, Thomas has a real chance to start at nose tackle as a rookie. The former UNC Tar Heel is competing with Antonio Garay and Ogemdi Nwagbuo.

Chargers fifth-round NT Cam Thomas is expected to play in a rotation with Antonio Garay and Ogemdi Nwagbuo this year.

Nwagbuo, miscast as a nose tackle at just 300 pounds, faded badly in the second half after taking over for Jamal Williams last year. Thomas is far more talented than either veteran, so he'll be given more responsibility as the season progresses.

Chargers selected North Carolina NT Cam Thomas with the No. 146 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Jamal Williams' replacement. Thomas was projected to go in the second or third round, so the Chargers are getting a steal here after putting a higher priority on running back early in the draft. At 6'4/330, Thomas is a true nose tackle, eating space while playing low to the ground. Thomas wore down easily with the Tarheels, so he may be just a rotational player with the Bolts as a rookie.
