ESPN New York calls TE Andrew Quarless a "name to watch" for the Giants in free agency.
Quarless is primarily a blocker who can catch a pass or two. He played for Giants coach Ben McAdoo in Green Bay from 2010-13. McAdoo served as his position coach for two years. The G-Men have Larry Donnell and Will Tye, but neither is much of a blocker, while Donnell is recovering from a serious neck injury. Mar 3 - 4:51 PM

Packers placed TE Andrew Quarless on injured reserve, ending his season.

Quarless broke the news on Instagram. Quarless' exact injury is unclear, but he spent the majority of the year on injured reserve/designated to return with a knee issue. He was active for last weekend's Wild Card win, and probably suffered a setback. The Pack will likely promote a wide receiver from the practice squad to fill Quarless' roster spot.

Packers activated TE Andrew Quarless (knee) off injured reserve-designated for return.

He'll give the Packers another tight end option along with Richard Rodgers and Justin Perillo. Rodgers' blocking limitations have rendered him a part-time player. Quarless should provide an upgrade on dad-runner Perillo.

Andrew Quarless was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine for firing a gun in public back on the Fourth of July.

Quarless will also be ordered to attend anger management and weapons safety courses after he fired the gun, tried to flee the scene, and hid the gun in a plant. On I.R.-designated for return and set to be activated soon, Quarless could be slapped with a suspension any moment now that he's been sentenced.

Packers placed TE Andrew Quarless (MCL) on injured reserve/designated to return.

Quarless was only expected to miss 4-6 weeks, but the move saves a roster spot for the Packers. He's now ineligible to return until Week 12. Richard Rodgers will continue to start, with Kennard Backman replacing Quarless in 12 personnel.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless will miss 4-to-6 weeks with a sprained MCL.

The injury is to Quarless' left knee. The blocking tight end has only drawn two targets this year. With Quarless sidelined, Kennard Backman will move up to No. 2 on the depth chart behind starter Richard Rodgers.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless will have an MRI on his injured knee Tuesday.

Quarless hurt his knee during the Packers' Week 3 win over the Chiefs on Monday night. Green Bay is hopeful the knee injury is just a sprain, but a sprain would still sideline Quarless several weeks. Richard Rodgers played 54 snaps with Quarless sidelined, his most of the season.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless exited Week 3 against the Chiefs with a knee injury.

More of a blocker than anything, Quarless is a bit player who'd yet to be targeted this season. No. 3 TE Kennard Backman is inactive Monday night.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel confirms Packers TE Andrew Quarless "has been passed" by Richard Rodgers on the depth chart.

The Packers listed Rodgers ahead of Quarless on their initial preseason depth chart, and that wasn't window dressing. Quarless and Rodgers will continue to share tight end duties, but Rodgers figures to play more snaps as the superior pass-catching option. Quarless has no real fantasy appeal.

Andrew Quarless missed the beginning of Packers camp because his daughter died on delivery.

"Probably the saddest day of my life," Quarless said of the July 29 tragedy. This confirms the tight end's absence was not due to his July 4 gun arrest. Quarless remains in the Packers' good graces and the favorite for in-line tight end duties this year.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless reported for training camp on Saturday.

Quarless was arrested for a gun offense in Florida on July 4, but his early absence from camp reportedly involved a family issue. He is the favorite to open the season as the Packers' in-line tight end.

Updating an earlier item, Packers TE Andrew Quarless has yet to report to training camp.

"Andrew Quarless is dealing with an extremely difficult family situation right now," coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday. "He will be gone as long as he has to be." McCarthy's words suggest Quarless' issue isn't related to his July 4 gun arrest. It's unclear when the Packers' in-line tight end will report.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless reported to training camp on time following his early-July arrest for allegedly firing a gun twice in Miami.

Coach Mike McCarthy had a "long conversation" with Quarless, and admitted both sides were "disappointed" in Quarless' actions. Still, the Packers appear to have no intention of cutting Quarless, who remains on track to start at in-line tight end while Richard Rodgers operates as the lightly-used flex player.

The Packers have no plans to release TE Andrew Quarless following his July 4 arrest.

Quarless allegedly fired a gun into the air twice during an early-Saturday morning altercation. He tried to flee and hide the weapon, but was arrested on a first-degree misdemeanor. The gun was registered to Quarless. The legal process will play itself out before the NFL steps in regarding a possible suspension.

Packers TE Andrew Quarless was arrested in Miami Saturday morning after allegedly firing a gun twice during an altercation.

Quarless tried to flee the scene and hide the gun in a plant, but he was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm in public, a first-degree misdemeanor with penalties of up to one year in jail in Florida. No matter what happens in the legal system, Quarless is likely to face a significant suspension from the NFL. Nothing more than a mediocre talent, Quarless' days with the Packers could be finished.
