With Jay Cutler (concussion) in doubt, Eldridge's roster spot was needed for Josh McCown. The blocking tight end could be back with the Bears after Cutler gets cleared.

He'll take RB Kahlil Bell's roster spot. A fifth-round pick in 2010, Eldridge was suspended the first four games of the season after getting popped for PEDs. A pure blocker, Eldridge's name won't often pop up on the stat sheet.

A fifth-round pick in 2010, Eldridge served a four-game PED ban to begin the season. The Bears have one of the league's weaker tight-end collections, but Eldridge wouldn't be in for significant snaps if he landed a deal.

Eldridge was claimed off waivers from the Colts in May, but handed a four-game PED suspension in July. A fifth-round pick in 2010, Eldridge has appeared in 27 games the past two seasons, but made just 14 catches for 84 yards. A pure blocker, he could draw interest once his ban is through.

NFL suspended Rams TE Brody Eldridge four games for violating the league's PED policy.

A pure blocker, Eldridge was claimed off waivers from the Colts in May. He was set to compete with Matthew Mulligan for a spot as a blocking specialist behind Lance Kendricks and Mike Hoomanawanui. The Rams could keep Eldridge on the reserve/suspended list and decide whether to activate him in Week 5.

Eldridge played guard and center at Oklahoma and was a first-team All-Big 12 pick as a sophomore fullback in Bob Stoops' offense. Purely a blocker, he'll compete for a roster spot with Mike Hoomanawanui behind Lance Kendricks.

The Colts have yet to comment on the exact nature of Eldridge's injury, but he's a good bet to miss multiple games. It's bad news for a team that's also going to be without Dallas Clark for at least the next few weeks, and explains why TEs Mike McNeill and Anthony Hill were signed Tuesday. Jacob Tamme will start in Week 10.

With Dallas Clark (leg) also sidelined, the Colts may need to look for street help at the tight end position. Jacob Tamme was left alone to carry the load yesterday.

Colts TE Brody Eldridge (ribs) will miss Week 9 against the Eagles, as he did not travel to Philadelphia.

Eldridge's strength is in his run blocking, and the former Sooner will be missed given that the injury bug has hit the Colts' backfield in a big way in recent weeks. Jacob Tamme is the fantasy tight to own in Indy with Dallas Clark (wrist surgery) on injured reserve.

Colts TE Brody Eldridge left Monday's Week 8 game against Houston in the second quarter with a rib injury.

Eldridge had some big blocks early, though the bigger loss is his blocking in the goal line running game. His return is questionable.

Eldridge is supposed to be a blocking specialist, but he looked good making catches down the seam. The fifth-rounder won't be a fantasy factor. He looks like a keeper as a role player for Indy, though.

A guard and tight end at Oklahoma, Eldridge will stay at the latter position in Indianapolis. He'll be groomed in a Ben Hartsock-like in-line blocking role.

The Colts will keep fifth-round pick Brody Eldridge at tight end.

Eldridge closed out his college career as a starting guard at Oklahoma, but at 6'5/261 his best position fit is tight end. "He’s a guy that is a very fine in-line blocker," said coach Jim Caldwell. "(He) can handle the edge, both from a pass protection standpoint and also from a run game standpoint."
