The Bucs worked out free agent cornerbacks Crezdon Butler and DeMarcus Van Dyke on Tuesday.

Bills waived CB Crezdon Butler.

Butler had been penciled in opposite Leodis McKelvin while Stephon Gilmore recovers from wrist surgery, but WGR 550 Buffalo reported Wednesday that his roster spot still wasn't sewn up. It now appears one of Justin Rogers and T.J. Heath will get the nod. A 2010 fifth-round pick of the Steelers, Butler has never made a start, and played just 19 snaps between the Bills and Redskins last season.

WGR 550 Buffalo believes CB Crezdon Butler is still competing for a roster spot.

Butler is currently expected to replace Stephon Gilmore (wrist surgery) at right cornerback for the first six weeks. It would take a disastrous fourth preseason game for him to get released over T.J. Heath. UDFA Nickell Robey and Ron Brooks are battling for nickel duties.

WGR550's Joe Buscaglia believes CB Crezdon Butler could be a sleeper to start opposite Stephon Gilmore this season.

Butler, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2010 who was signed off Arizona's practice squad last year. With Leodis McKelvin still rehabbing from surgery, the door is wide open for Butler to make a move up the depth chart.

Bills signed CB Crezdon Butler off the Cardinals practice squad.

Starter Aaron Williams (knee) is out a few weeks and Terrence McGee (knee) is done for the year. Butler, a 2010 fifth-round pick of the Steelers, will be depth behind Stephon Gilmore and Leodis McKelvin.

Cardinals re-signed CB Crezdon Butler.

Butler spent last season on injured reserve due to a dislocated ankle. He then missed final cuts this year. Butler takes the roster spot of Ryan Williams, meaning the Cardinals aren't adding a veteran running back just yet. Butler will focus on special teams if active this week.

Cardinals claimed CB Crezdon Butler off waivers from the Steelers.

A 2010 fifth-rounder out of Clemson, Butler never earned more than a special teams role with the Steelers. Defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who coached Butler in Pittsburgh last year, has always been a booster, though.

Steelers signed fifth-round CB Crezdon Butler to a three-year contract.

DBs coach Ray Horton is a big fan of Butler, who is low on the depth chart but should get a chance for nickel and dime snaps behind inexperienced Joe Burnett and Keenan Lewis. Butler was a three-year starter at Clemson.

Secondary coach Ray Horton expects fifth-round CB Crezdon Butler to make an impact as a rookie.

"(No.) 40 is rising," Horton said of Butler. "I know I'm talking about a rookie, but it looks like he's going to make our team better." Butler will start off on special teams while battling for playing time in dime situations.

Steelers selected Clemson CB Crezdon Butler with the No. 164 pick in the 2010 draft.

The Steelers finally pick up their first cornerback. A three-year starter with the Tigers, Butler possesses good size but lacks high end speed and ball skills. With the Bryant McFadden trade, the Steelers have the luxury of bringing Butler along slowly.
