Redskins waived WR Terrence Austin.
A seventh-round pick out of UCLA in 2010, Austin made 15 catches for 184 yards in 18 appearances. The 5'11/175 speedster will try to latch on as a slot man and potential returner elsewhere. Fri, Aug 31, 2012 09:25:00 AM

Terrence Austin played the second-most snaps among Redskins wideouts in Sunday's loss to the Bills.

With Santana Moss (hand) sidelined, Jabar Gaffney played 49 snaps, Austin saw 37 and Niles Paul got 30. Austin, a slot receiver, ended up with two catches for 22 yards and Paul did not record a reception. Outside of Fred Davis, this entire passing game is hands off in fantasy.

Terrence Austin caught three passes for 26 yards in Sunday's loss to the Panthers.

Austin racked up six targets, most of which came after Santana Moss (hand) left the game. The 2010 seventh-round pick will likely serve as the Redskins' primary slot receiver in three-wide sets going forward, but his upside is capped by his size and the Redskins' quarterback situation. He's someone to monitor more than add, even in deep formats.

Terrence Austin led the Redskins with 71 yards and a touchdown on five catches in the Redskins' third preseason game.

He's playing his way onto the roster. Most of Austin's production came in garbage time, but he's shown a strong connection with John Beck in back-to-back games. Austin will be no higher than fourth on the depth chart to enter the season.

Redskins WR Terrence Austin is "making it very hard on coaches to cut him."

Austin hauled in three catches for 23 yards in Friday night's preseason tilt after catching two balls for 46 yards against the Steelers last week. Undersized at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Austin will have to continue to shine if he wants to make the team after being active just five times as a rookie in 2010.

Redskins WR Terrence Austin has put on eight pounds this offseason, mostly in the upper body.

Austin was listed at a ridiculously small 5-foot-11, 177 as a rookie, so the weight gain was much needed. The 2010 seventh-round pick has taken up boxing this offseason. Austin caught only three passes for 47 yards as a rookie.

Redskins signed WR Terrence Austin from the practice squad to the active roster.

After the 'Skins waived veteran Joey Galloway, Austin was signed to provide receiver depth. The seventh-round rookie out of UCLA isn't expected to see extensive action, and shouldn't be on fantasy radars.

Practice squad WR Terrence Austin made the trip with the Redskins to Tennessee and is expected to be activated for Week 11.

The team will have to make a corresponding roster move to free up a space for Austin sometime before Sunday's contest.

Redskins waived WR Terrence Austin.

Austin will be signed to the practice squad should he clear waivers, according to a league source. His release is a good sign for undrafted rookie Brandon Banks, who has been vying for the return specialist job.

Redskins agreed to terms with seventh-round WR Terrence Austin on a four-year contract, including a signing bonus that slightly exceeds $62,000.

Austin will have to make the Skins' roster as a return specialist, because he offers very little as a wide receiver. We wouldn't bet on him lasting long.

Seventh-round pick Terrence Austin will have a shot to win both return jobs, according to Redskins GM Bruce Allen.

"[Special teams coach] Danny Smith's quite excited to get somebody of his potential," Allen said. The Redskins have holes at both return spots with Antwaan Randle El and Rock Cartwright both gone.

Redskins selected UCLA WR Terrence Austin with the No. 219 overall pick in the 2010 draft.

Austin was a punt returner and kickoff returner for the Bruins last season, but he failed to record a touchdown in either capacity. He posted a 37/455/4 line in his first season as a starter. At best, he projects as slot help in the NFL.
