Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani (compound leg fracture) is "feeling good and feeling healthy," and expects to be ready for training camp.
Mariani's brutal leg break last preseason was the same injury suffered by Louisville's Kevin Ware in the Elite Eight. Mariani is just three years removed from a Pro Bowl campaign as a returner, but won't be guaranteed a roster spot after the Titans signed Kevin Walter and re-upped Darius Reynaud. Apr 12 - 10:10 AM

Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani's Thursday night leg fracture was of the compound variety, breaking both his left tibia and fibula.

It was a brutal break and will require extensive recovery. The good news for Mariani is it occurred before the season started, as opposed to in November or December. Mariani underwent immediate, emergency surgery after suffering the injury. We suspect he won't be back until 2013 training camp at soonest.

Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani was carted off the field with a fractured left leg in the first quarter of Thursday night's preseason game against Arizona.

Mariani was down for several minutes before they finally got him off on the cart, and was clearly in a ton of pain as he was taken away. Replay showed a brutal injury; Mariani's left leg was clearly fractured and pointing in the wrong direction. Darius Reynaud may have sewn up a roster spot already, but he's locked in now. Mariani was a shifty, explosive return specialist.

Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani says he was slowed by a high-ankle sprain last season.

Mariani didn't miss a game after suffering the injury in the preseason, but says it sapped his explosiveness. Mariani was still one of the league's better return specialists last season, but his numbers were down from his Pro Bowl rookie campaign. Drawing praise for his work as a receiver this offseason, Mariani's roster spot should be secure.

Coach Mike Munchak was impressed with KR Marc Mariani's receiving skills in this week's minicamp.

"He's one of the guys that when the ball went up, it seemed like he came down with it, or he found a way to get open," said Munchak. "His routes were sharp ... He was fun to watch." Mariani's strong showing will certainly help in his quest to nail down a roster spot, but he's not going to be higher than fifth on the depth chart at receiver.

The Titans plan to try second-year receiver/return specialist Marc Mariani in the slot this season.

Mariani will remain Tennessee's do-it-all return man, but the Titans are trying to find more value for him because of the league's new special teams rules. Mariani, though, didn't catch a pass as a rookie. He'll have to beat out Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins for snaps behind Kenny Britt and Nate Washington.

Titans rookie KR Marc Mariani broke Derrick Mason's single-season franchise record of 1,794 combined kickoff and punt return yards.

Mariani took home the record on a 47-yard first-quarter return in Week 17. It's been 10 years since the Titans have had a solid return man, and Mariani more than held off fellow rookie Damian Williams. "Double M" is positioned to enter 2011 training camp alone atop the return depth chart.

Titans rookie KR Marc Mariani had a 98-yard kick return for a touchdown early in the third quarter of Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Broncos.

Mariani muffed an all important kick late in the fourth quarter that ultimately cost the Titans a chance to win the game. Mariani should retain his job after notching the Titans' first kick return for a touchdown since 2001, but the team is going to have to deal with some rookie mistakes.

Marc Mariani, not Damian Williams, is expected to be the primary kick returner in Sunday's game against the Raiders.

The Titans have not announced their plans, but Mariani is now atop the depth chart on kickoffs and punts after outproducing Williams in preseason action. Nothing is set in stone here, so Williams could re-enter the picture depending on Mariani's performance.

Titans signed seventh-round WR Marc Mariani to a four-year contract.

Mariani's 4.48 forty time at Montana's Pro Day put him on the Titans' draft board. Even with experience in the return game, he'll have to outplay both Paul Williams and Dominique Edison just to get to sixth on the depth chart.
