Titans signed WR/KR Marc Mariani.
Mariani was a seventh-round pick of the Titans in 2010 and spent the first four years of his career in Tennessee. He was somewhat surprisingly released by the Bears at final cuts Saturday. Sophomore Tre McBride, who was expected to serve as the primary kick returner, was waived in a corresponding move. Sep 5 - 9:45 AM

Bears released WR Marc Mariani.

Mariani, 29, was said to be having a "productive camp" this summer, but he didn't do squat in preseason games with a 2-11 line. He's a candidate to come back after Week 1 when his season-long salary is no longer guaranteed.

ChicagoBears.com reports WR Marc Mariani is having a "productive training camp."

He also reportedly stood out during the team's joint practice with the Patriots on Monday. "He just makes catches," said Jay Cutler. "He makes plays. He’s in the right spot. He does exactly what is asked of him." Mariani would need injuries ahead of him to earn a significant offensive role, but it sounds like he is well on his way to earning a roster spot.
Aug 16 - 8:22 AM

Bears re-signed WR Marc Mariani to a one-year, $840,000 contract.

Mariani played a career-high 535 snaps with Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal dealing with injuries last year. He reportedly had interest from multiple teams. Mariani will return as Chicago's kick returner and No. 5 receiver.
Mar 12 - 5:48 PM

At least four teams have shown interest in free agent WR Marc Mariani.

Chicago is one of those teams. Mariani was forced into a bigger role last year because of injuries to Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal. He managed 22 catches for 300 yards over the course of 535 offensive snaps. Even in a thin wide receiver market, it shouldn't cost the Bears much to keep him.
Mar 9 - 10:23 PM

Bears signed WR Marc Mariani to a two-year contract.

S Ahmad Dixon has been waived in a corresponding roster move. A return maven, Mariani should mostly contribute on special teams. Thanks to injuries, Mariani hasn't appeared in a regular-season game since 2011.

Titans waived WR Marc Mariani.

After missing all of 2013 with a shoulder injury, Mariani entered camp as a roster long shot. He gets the heave-ho after a quiet August in Nashville.

Titans re-signed WR/KR Marc Mariani to a one-year contract.

Mariani visited the Chargers earlier in the week. He's missed the past two seasons with a broken leg and shoulder issue. He has five career catches and will compete with Leon Washington and Dexter McCluster for return duties.

Free agent WR/KR Marc Mariani worked out for the Chargers on Monday.

Mariani has missed the last two seasons with a gruesome broken leg in 2012 and shoulder injury last summer. Before that, he was an electric return man who has three career return touchdowns. Mariani would add speed the Bolts desire.

Titans placed WR Marc Mariani (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Darius Reynaud will be Tennessee's return specialist again this year. Mariani suffered a compound leg fracture in 2012, made it back, and then separated his shoulder early in training camp. He'll be a free agent in 2014.

Titans KR Marc Mariani (shoulder) is not expected to be ready for Week 1.

Mariani missed the entire preseason with a bruised AC joint and coach Mike Munchak wouldn't commit to carrying him on the 53-man roster. Darius Reynaud is set to replace him as the Titans' return specialist.

Titans KR Marc Mariani is week-to-week with a shoulder injury.

Mariani suffered a bruised AC joint Friday and will now miss at least one preseason game. The missed playing time could put his roster spot in jeopardy, as Darius Reynaud could overtake him as the Titans' return specialist.

The Nashville Tennessean believes it will be a "challenge" for Marc Mariani to unseat Darius Reynaud as the Titans' return specialist.

Mariani suffered a compound leg fracture last preseason, and it left some wondering if the 2010 Pro Bowler's career was over. He's now nearing 100 percent, while coming off an "amazing" spring. Reynaud returned two punts and one kickoff to the house last season, and he was re-signed to a one-year deal.

Coach Mike Munchak said KR/WR Marc Mariani (leg) has been "amazing" through spring workouts.

Mariani sustained a compound fracture in his left leg during the preseason last year. He's not 100 percent yet, but appears to be getting close. Mariani holds a career average of 24.8 yards per kickoff return and 11.2 yards per punt return. Darius Reynaud averaged 23.4 yards on kickoff returns and 13.2 yards on punt returns last season, and has since been re-signed to a one-year contract.

Titans KR/WR Marc Mariani (compound leg fracture) is "feeling good and feeling healthy," and expects to be ready for training camp.

Mariani's brutal leg break last preseason was the same injury suffered by Louisville's Kevin Ware in the Elite Eight. Mariani is just three years removed from a Pro Bowl campaign as a returner, but won't be guaranteed a roster spot after the Titans signed Kevin Walter and re-upped Darius Reynaud.
