Seahawks waived/failed physical DL Dexter Davis.
A seventh-round pick in 2010, Davis had 13 tackles and a sack as a rookie. A hip injury limited him to one game the following season and prevented him from competing as a situational pass-rusher. It's been nearly two years since he played in a game. Tue, Apr 16, 2013 05:41:00 PM

Seahawks DE/OLB Dexter Davis is fully recovered from a hip injury that ended his season last September.

Davis was in line for a situational pass-rushing role last year, but his season ended before it really got started. He'll be a reserve and special teamer again in 2012.

Seahawks seventh-round OLB/DE Dexter Davis has been the MVP of camp, according to linebackers coach Ken Norton Jr.

Davis has excelled as a pass-rusher, something the Seahawks are in desperate need of. He's playing behind starter Aaron Curry at outside linebacker and has two sacks through two preseason games. Davis is looking like a strong bet to make the team.

Seahawks signed seventh-round OLB/DE Dexter Davis to a four-year contract, including a $47,000 signing bonus.

Davis is trying to make the Seahawks as a rotational pass rusher, and his versatility will help. Still, he'll also need to show well as a special teamer.

The Seahawks project seventh-round pick Dexter Davis as a hybrid defensive end/outside linebacker.

Davis was a defensive end at Arizona State, where he was a three-time All-Pac-10 pick. He'll have to adjust to standing up to play coach Pete Carroll's "elephant" role. Essentially, he'll be a roving pass rusher. Davis will try to push the current starter at that spot, Chris Clemons, and backup Nick Reed.
