Lions re-signed WR Kassim Osgood to a one-year contract.
Osgood's value is on special teams. He doesn't play offense at all, and couldn't even get on the field last year as the Lions went through a bevy of receivers. Mar 12 - 4:32 PM

Lions signed WR Kassim Osgood, formerly of the Jaguars.

The 32-year-old Osgood is a coverage teams specialist, running down kickoffs and punts. His addition could be a bad sign for fifth receiver Maurice Stovall.

Jaguars released WR Kassim Osgood.

Osgood was due in excess of $2 million, which the Jags deemed too expensive for a one-trick pony special teamer who turns 32 in May. Osgood can still run down kickoffs and punts, but he couldn't even beat out Chastin West for playing time at receiver last season. Osgood may resurface for the NFL minimum.

Jaguars special teamer Kassim Osgood said he wants more action at wide receiver.

Osgood has no catches on the season even though the Jaguars field one of the league's worst receiver corps. "I feel like they put the baby in a corner. Now I know what they think of me," Osgood said on Twitter. The career special teamer has an inflated perception of his skills as a pass-catcher.

Jaguars WR Kassim Osgood strained his hamstring in Sunday's loss to the Jets.

Despite the absence of Jason Hill, Osgood was targeted once on Sunday. A career special teamer, Osgood's use on offense will be extremely limited this year.

Kassim Osgood finished without a catch on one target in Week 13.

Osgood started in place of Mike Sims-Walker and was overthrown on his only look. He should be kept far away from your fantasy team.

Kassim Osgood will start in place of Mike Sims-Walker (ankle) in Sunday's game against the Titans.

Osgood is a physical presence known more for his special teams work than his skills as a receiver. He'll struggle to get open or make plays after the catch. Expect David Garrard to target Mike Thomas and Marcedes Lewis heavily.

Jaguars WR/ST Kassim Osgood was pistol-whipped during a confrontation with a 19-year-old girl's ex-boyfriend in her Jacksonville home Monday night.

Julian Armond Bartletto, 20, was arrested on several charges, including aggravated battery and armed robbery. Bartletto pointed the gun to the 19-year-old girl's head at one point, and the two wound up trading gunfire on the bottom floor of the girl's home. Osgood escaped with "minor bruises."

WR Kasim Osgood hauled in a 24-yard pass from David Garrard for a game-winning TD in the Jaguars Week 1 victory over Denver.

Osgood used his physical presence, and went over the middle to grab a ball in traffic in spite of solid pass coverage from S Brian Dawkins. As a fourth option on a pedestrian Jacksonville offense, Osgood should be left on the waiver wire.

Kassim Osgood has failed to impress on the minicamp practice field so far as a wide receiver.

According to ESPN's Paul Kuharsky, the "verdict is already in" on how Osgood will be used in Jacksonville -- as "strictly an excellent special teamer." Osgood, 30, lacks suddenness as a route runner to get open. Mike Thomas, Jarett Dillard, and Troy Williamson will play more at wideout this season.

Kassim Osgood confirmed that the Jags promised him an opportunity to be a legitimate receiver when they signed him last month.

"I want to be a safety valve for the quarterback," said Osgood. "He's scrambling and I want to be open; be the quarterback’s living video game." Dirk Koetter's offense has similarities to Norv Turner's, so it won't take long for Osgood to get acclimated. He'll battle Mike Thomas and Troy Williamson for the No. 2 job.

Jaguars signed WR/ST Kassim Osgood to a three-year, $6.675 million contract with a $2.2 million signing bonus.

The deal could grow to $10.875M with incentives based on receptions. Osgood was looking for a shot to play wide receiver, and the contract suggests he'll be granted an opportunity to compete for snaps. Though he's a longshot to beat out Mike Thomas or Troy Williamson for a starting job, he does have a considerable edge in size (6'5/220) if the Jags are looking for a big receiver.

The Jaguars are reportedly working on a deal for free agent WR/ST Kassim Osgood as of Saturday afternoon.

He and Aaron Kampman both visited Jacksonville on Saturday, though it appears Osgood has a better chance of walking away with a contract. No other team is known to be pursuing the special teams standout.

Free agent WR/ST Kassim Osgood is meeting with the Jaguars today, a source tells Profootballtalk's Mike Florio.

The Jaguars are thin at receiver behind Mike Sims-Walker, but Osgood isn't the answer. We doubt the special teams ace would beat out Troy Williamson or Mike Thomas for significant snaps.

Unrestricted free agent Kassim Osgood "tweeted" that he's flying across the country to meet with a team that will give him a legit shot at playing wide receiver.

Osgood didn't identify the team, but he's not thinking clearly if he believes a team wants him as a starting receiver. Osgood will be 30 in May and has caught five passes in the last four seasons. He's a special teams ace.
