The Panthers' official website said S Kurt Coleman "frequently worked with the first-team defense" in camp.
Coleman was listed behind Roman Harper and Tre Boston on the Panthers' first depth chart, but he appears to have leapfrogged Boston in the last week. After being relegated to special teams work his final season in Philadelphia, Coleman had something of a career resurgence with the Chiefs last season. He played almost 400 snaps on defense, recording 37 tackles and three interceptions. Aug 22 - 12:20 PM

Panthers signed S Kurt Coleman, formerly of the Chiefs, to a two-year contract.

The Chiefs signed Coleman off the scrap heap prior to Week 1 last season, and it turned out to be one of their best pickups. Coleman accounted for half the team's interceptions despite playing just 377 snaps. Capable of playing both safety spots, Coleman gives Carolina depth with Thomas DeCoud gone and Roman Harper aging.

The Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs and free agent S Kurt Coleman have "mutual interest" in a new deal.

The Chiefs met with Coleman's player rep at the Combine. The Star previously reported Coleman is expected to seek in the neighborhood of $1.5-$2 million annually. Coleman was a playmaker as the Chiefs' No. 4 safety last season.

The Kansas City Star expects free agent S Kurt Coleman to seek $1.5-$2 million annually.

Coming off a year where he played only 74 defensive snaps for the Eagles, Coleman was highly effective as the Chiefs' No. 4 safety in 2014. He notched 37 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble despite playing a modest 396 snaps. Still only 27 (in July), Coleman could get a chance to compete for a starting job, but is still best suited to a reserve role.

Chiefs signed S Kurt Coleman.

Coleman was part of the Vikings' final cuts after inking a one-year deal with Minnesota in March. He was drafted by coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia and will be Kansas City's No. 4 safety. Coleman will mainly cover kicks for the Chiefs.

ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling doesn't project S Kurt Coleman to make the 53-man roster.

Coleman is merely a special teams player, but he's a fine one at that. Goessling has the Vikings keeping third-year S Robert Blanton and sixth-round rookie Antone Exum over Coleman. Blanton got some run with the first-team defense next to Harrison Smith during the spring, while Exum is a hybrid corner/safety.

Vikings agreed to terms with S Kurt Coleman, formerly of the Eagles.

Coleman, 26 in July, managed 15 tackles in 14 appearances with Philly last season, recording no starts. He's a backup safety and special teams player.

Free agent S Kurt Coleman left his visit with the Vikings with no deal in place despite reportedly being offered a contract.

If signed, Coleman would only be asked to help on special teams and fill a backup defensive role in Minnesota. Coleman started 27 games between 2011 and 2012 in Philadelphia, but played just 74 defensive snaps for the Eagles last season. He has also visited the Jets and Colts.

Free agent S Kurt Coleman is visiting the Vikings.

Coleman's been busy the past week; he made trips to the Jets and Colts last week. The 2010 seventh-round pick played just 74 defensive snaps last season. In Minnesota, he'd chip in on special teams and back up both safety spots.

Free agent S Kurt Coleman will visit the Colts on Friday.

Coleman visited the Jets on Tuesday. The Colts have a hole opposite LaRon Landry, but Coleman won't be viewed as a starting option after playing just 74 snaps for the Eagles last season.

Free agent S Kurt Coleman visited the Jets.

Demoted to the bench last season, Coleman was limited to 74 snaps in 15 games for the Eagles. He'd be a depth signing for the Jets' currently-thin secondary.

Eagles S Kurt Coleman played cornerback in Thursday's preseason finale.

A reserve safety and special teamer, added versatility could only help Coleman's roster chances. Nevertheless, it would be a disaster if Coleman ever had to step in at corner during the regular season. He was completely overwhelmed in coverage last season.

CSN Philly believes Eagles S Kurt Coleman and CB Curtis Marsh will need strong camps to save their roster spots.

Coleman was a disaster last season, while Marsh played just 62 snaps. Coleman won't enter new coach Chip Kelly's first camp as a starter, but his status could depend on Kenny Phillips' health.

Eagles declared S Kurt Coleman (ribs) inactive for Sunday's Week 14 game against the Bucs.

Coleman, a human coverage bust this season, was in danger of getting benched even before his injury. He'll be replaced by special teams ace Colt Anderson. The matchup won't get much better for Josh Freeman, Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams. The rest of the Eagles' inactives: QB Michael Vick, RB LeSean McCoy, RB Chris Polk, DT Mike Patterson, WR Greg Salas and OT Matt Kopa.

Eagles S Kurt Coleman has been diagnosed with a cartilage bruise in the sternum and rib area.

This should be the last straw for Coleman as a starter. Even if he's active for the final four games, the Eagles would be wise to see what David Sims can do in a starting role. We know that Coleman doesn't have the talent to handle the job and the Eagles are expected to make safety a priority this offseason.
