The Panthers ruled out SS Kurt Coleman (concussion) and MLB Luke Kuechly (concussion) for Week 13 against the Seahawks.

Jimmy Graham and Doug Baldwin should go to work against a Carolina defense that is severely weakened up the middle. Coleman hasn't had a great year, but he is the Panthers' top playmaker in the secondary. Kuechly is the heart and soul of Carolina's defense. The Panthers will also be without DE Mario Addison (foot) against Seattle. Addison leads the team with nine sacks.

Panthers FS Kurt Coleman is in the league's concussion protocol.

He didn't practice on Wednesday. The Panthers are beat up on both sides of the ball right now and are quickly falling out of the playoff race. Coleman played well enough to earn a three-year extension last year but has taken a step back in 2016. He holds PFF's 11th-worst safety grade out of 86 qualifiers this season.

Panthers signed FS Kurt Coleman to a three-year, $17 million extension through 2019.

Plucked off the scrap heap after a year of backing up in Kansas City, Coleman had a career year in 2015. He stuffed the stat sheet with 90 tackles, seven picks and a sack, and graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 7 overall safety. His seven picks were tied for second in the league. Coleman turned 28 in April.

Panthers FS Kurt Coleman had offseason finger surgery.

It’s only notable for bookkeeping purposes. Coleman didn’t miss any time at OTAs. He’s fully healthy for his contract year.

Panthers walk-year FS Kurt Coleman is not worrying about his contract.

"It’s out of my hands," he said. "I’m trusting that both sides are going to do what’s right and what’s fair." Coleman was outstanding his first year in Carolina, recording seven interceptions and 88 tackles as a 15-game starter. GM Dave Gettleman does not put a premium on the secondary, but Coleman performed well enough to earn a new contract. Whether he will get one remains to be seen.

Panthers FS Kurt Coleman (foot) is listed as doubtful for Week 17.

Coleman has been one of the NFL's highest-impact safeties this season, so his loss will be felt. The Panthers will turn to Tre Boston at free safety.

Panthers FS Kurt Coleman's foot sprain is "not bad."

Coleman could miss the finale with an eye toward being 100 percent for the playoffs, but coach Ron Rivera is confident he's avoided major injury. A 15-game starter, Coleman has been a major surprise for the Panthers, picking off seven passes and operating as one of the league's most effective safeties this season.

Panthers S Kurt Coleman suffered a foot sprain Week 16 against the Falcons.

Coleman suffered the injury on Julio Jones' 70-yard touchdown in the third quarter. He is headed for scans Monday. A former special teamer in Philadelphia, Coleman established himself as a playmaking safety with the Chiefs last season, and he earned a starting spot with a strong training camp with the Panthers. Coleman is tied for third in the league with seven interceptions. Losing him for any amount of time would be a big blow to the defense.

The Panthers' official website said S Kurt Coleman "frequently worked with the first-team defense" in camp.

Coleman was listed behind Roman Harper and Tre Boston on the Panthers' first depth chart, but he appears to have leapfrogged Boston in the last week. After being relegated to special teams work his final season in Philadelphia, Coleman had something of a career resurgence with the Chiefs last season. He played almost 400 snaps on defense, recording 37 tackles and three interceptions.

Panthers signed S Kurt Coleman, formerly of the Chiefs, to a two-year contract.

The Chiefs signed Coleman off the scrap heap prior to Week 1 last season, and it turned out to be one of their best pickups. Coleman accounted for half the team's interceptions despite playing just 377 snaps. Capable of playing both safety spots, Coleman gives Carolina depth with Thomas DeCoud gone and Roman Harper aging.

The Kansas City Star reports the Chiefs and free agent S Kurt Coleman have "mutual interest" in a new deal.

The Chiefs met with Coleman's player rep at the Combine. The Star previously reported Coleman is expected to seek in the neighborhood of $1.5-$2 million annually. Coleman was a playmaker as the Chiefs' No. 4 safety last season.

The Kansas City Star expects free agent S Kurt Coleman to seek $1.5-$2 million annually.

Coming off a year where he played only 74 defensive snaps for the Eagles, Coleman was highly effective as the Chiefs' No. 4 safety in 2014. He notched 37 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble despite playing a modest 396 snaps. Still only 27 (in July), Coleman could get a chance to compete for a starting job, but is still best suited to a reserve role.

Chiefs signed S Kurt Coleman.

Coleman was part of the Vikings' final cuts after inking a one-year deal with Minnesota in March. He was drafted by coach Andy Reid in Philadelphia and will be Kansas City's No. 4 safety. Coleman will mainly cover kicks for the Chiefs.

ESPN Vikings reporter Ben Goessling doesn't project S Kurt Coleman to make the 53-man roster.

Coleman is merely a special teams player, but he's a fine one at that. Goessling has the Vikings keeping third-year S Robert Blanton and sixth-round rookie Antone Exum over Coleman. Blanton got some run with the first-team defense next to Harrison Smith during the spring, while Exum is a hybrid corner/safety.
