Jaguars claimed DL Brandon Deaderick off waivers from the Patriots.
Deaderick and his $630,000 salary were waived on Monday. Deaderick has played at least 260 snaps each of the past three seasons, but is a mere body as a run defender and offers nothing as a pass rusher. Deaderick's salary makes him a strong contender for a roster spot as the Jags remake their front seven, but he's not going to suddenly make noise in his new home. May 14 - 5:04 PM

Patriots waived DL Brandon Deaderick.

The move is somewhat surprising because Deaderick logged heavy snaps down the stretch last season, starting five of New England's final six games. He never provided more than a wide body in run defense, though, registering five sacks across 34 appearances in Foxboro. Deaderick could generate some interest on waivers because his salary ($630,000) is cheap and he's still only 25.

Patriots activated DE Brandon Deaderick (shoulder) from the PUP list.

A seventh-round pick a year ago, Deaderick came on late in the season, tallying two sacks in 10 games while playing well in New England's Divisional Round loss to the Jets. He should be used as a rotational pass rusher.

Patriots placed DE Brandon Deaderick (shoulder) on the reserve/PUP list.

He'll be eligible to return in Week 8 against the Steelers. A seventh-round pick last year, Deaderick was productive in parts of 10 games, tallying 10 tackles and two sacks. Although he wasn't believed to have a roster spot sewn up heading into camp, he now seems likely to stick with the Pats all season as long as he gets healthy.

The Boston Globe believes DE Brandon Deaderick's spot on the Patriots' 53-man roster could be "iffy."

A rookie seventh-round pick last season, Deaderick drew a four-day suspension between the end of the regular season and New England's playoff loss to the Jets for a "violation of team policy." He was productive in parts of 10 games, however, notching 10 tackles and two sacks. He'll likely be back.

Patriots DE Brandon Deaderick underwent "minor" shoulder surgery this week.

The 2010 seventh-rounder sustained the injury in mid-December before the Pats suspended him for a violation of team policy. Deaderick totaled 10 tackles and two sacks in 10 games as a rookie.

The Patriots have lifted DE Brandon Deaderick's suspension for a violation of team policy.

Convenient. Deaderick was suspended just four days ago, but the Pats are desperately thin on the defensive line, so he's needed again. The seventh-round rookie out of Alabama probably appreciated the practice time off.

Patriots suspended DE Brandon Deaderick for a violation of team policy.

The reason for Deaderick's suspension is unknown. The Pats brought in four defensive end candidates for tryouts Monday: Ex-Buc Ryan Sims, ex-Bronco Le Kevin Smith, ex-Charger Alfonso Boone, and former Jaguar Atiyyah Ellison.

Seventh-round rookie Brandon Deaderick started for the Patriots at left defensive end in Week 6.

Deaderick's hard work in practice has endeared him to coach Bill Belichick, and he responded with a sack against the Ravens. His playing time has skyrocketed the past two weeks after being held out of action in the first three games.

Patriots signed seventh-round DE Brandon Deaderick to a four-year, $1.83 million contract.

In 2009 Deaderick was shot in the forearm and went on to play in a game against Virginia Tech later that week. His toughness is his best attribute and he's a Belichick kind of player, but it might be a year or two before he sees the field in any capacity.
