Bengals signed QB Zac Robinson, LS Bryce Davis, DE DeQuin Evans, WR Justin Hilton, OT Dan Knapp, and LB J.K. Schaffer to reserve/future contracts.
Robinson has spent the last two seasons on the Cincinnati practice squad and is three years removed from being the signal caller at Oklahoma State. The future contracts will lock all six players into the Bengals offseason program in hopes of grabbing a roster spot in the summer. Jan 7 - 8:27 PM

Lions waived QB Zac Robinson.

In his second year out of Oklahoma State, Robinson completed 9-of-15 passes for 91 yards this preseason. Also released or waived by the Lions today were WR Dominique Barnes, OT Kirk Chambers, RB Matt Clapp, TE Joe Jon Finley, C Dan Gerberry, WR Nate Hughes, TE Gijon Robinson, G Donald Thomas, WR Tim Toone and WR Derrick Williams.

Lions claimed QB Zac Robinson off waivers from the Seahawks.

Robinson was active last week as an emergency quarterback with Matt Hasselbeck unavailable. The Lions need depth at the position with Matthew Stafford (shoulder) likely out for the season and Shaun Hill (forearm) in question for Week 10.

Seahawks waived QB Zac Robinson.

The Seahawks needed Robinson available in an emergency in Week 9 with Matt Hasselbeck out. They'll try to sneak him back onto the practice squad if he clears waivers.

As expected, the Seahawks signed QB Zac Robinson off the practice squad, and released WR Ruvell Martin to make room on the 53-man roster.

The seventh-round rookie out of Oklahoma State will back up Charlie Whitehurst in a daunting matchup against the Giants Week 9. Should LT Russell Okung (doubtful, ankle) miss the game, it wouldn't be shocking to see Robinson forced to take a few snaps if New York's furious pass rush knocks Whitehurst out of action. The Seahawks pass protection is night-and-day without Okung protecting the quarterback's blind side.

The Seahawks are expected to sign QB Zac Robinson off the practice squad.

Playing without QB Matt Hasselbeck (concussion), Seattle will bring the rookie onto the active roster to backup Charlie Whitehurst.

Seahawks signed QB Zac Robinson to their practice squad.

The likelihood of Matt Leinart landing in Seattle continues to decrease. Pete Carroll got a good look at Robinson in the Pac 10 last year, though his addition to the practice squad also may indicate that the Seahawks will try Robinson at safety or receiver. He doesn't have NFL-caliber quarterback tools.

The seventh-round pick will be a practice squad candidate if he clears waivers (likely). A former Oklahoma State standout, Robinson would probably have a better shot at sticking in the NFL if he tried safety or slot receiver.

Patriots signed seventh-round QB Zac Robinson to a four-year contract, including a roughly $38,000 signing bonus.

Robinson apparently won't be tried at safety, as some prognosticators forecasted would be his NFL position due to plus athleticism but weak overall skills for a quarterback. He's not a good bet to put significant heat on Brian Hoyer in training camp, let alone be Tom Brady's long-term successor.

ESPN's Mike Reiss believes rookie QB Zac Robinson will land on the Patriots' practice squad this season.

Brian Hoyer is locked in as Tom Brady's backup. Robinson, who has the athletic ability to play other positions, will have to clear waivers before he's eligible for the practice squad.

Zac Robinson - QB - Bengals

Patriots seventh-round pick Zac Robinson has practiced strictly at quarterback during post-draft minicamp.

There was some pre-draft speculation that Robinson might convert to safety or wide receiver, but he's staying at quarterback for now. At 6-foot-2, 214 with 4.7 speed, we wouldn't rule out a position switch down the road.
