David Nelson caught his lone target for a 17-yard gain in the Jets' Week 1 win over the Raiders.

Nelson and Greg Salas shared time behind starters Eric Decker and Jeremy Kerley. Salas ended up seeing two targets to Nelson's one. Nelson isn't on the fantasy radar as the No. 5 option in the Jets' run-heavy offense.
Sep 7 - 6:10 PM

David Nelson caught one pass for 25 yards in Friday's preseason game.

The second-quarter grab was Nelson's only target. The Jets' de facto No. 2 receiver now has four grabs for 39 yards through three preseason games. He has no fantasy value.
Aug 22 - 11:01 PM

The New York Post considers David Nelson the "favorite" for the Jets' No. 2 receiver job.

Beat writer Brian Costello gives Nelson the edge over Stephen Hill and others, "judging from OTA and minicamp snaps." Nelson has a sure pair of mitts as a possession receiver. He won't stretch the field, but offers a big target at 6'5/215. Whoever ends up as the No. 2 to Eric Decker is unlikely to be a fantasy asset.
Jun 24 - 8:55 AM

ESPN New York considers David Nelson and Stephen Hill the likeliest candidates to open the season as the Jets' No. 2 receiver.

Hill is likely to make the Jets despite roster-bubble talk, while Nelson turned in a 36-423-11.8-2 receiving line in 12 games last season. In a run-first offense with quarterback concerns, it's unlikely Jets wideouts beyond Eric Decker will offer much fantasy value. Jeremy Kerley is entrenched in the slot.
Jun 13 - 1:50 PM

Jets WR David Nelson (illness) was "quarantined" for the first week of OTAs.

Nelson was in Haiti for charity when he was bitten by a mosquito. He was sidelined with a 104-degree fever and strep throat. Nelson is back with the team and healthy. He's in the mix for the No. 2 receiver job opposite Eric Decker as a sure-handed possession receiver.
Jun 8 - 10:12 AM

David Nelson caught five passes for 66 yards in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Dolphins.

Nelson led the Jets in receiving and finished with six targets. He's bounced back nicely from a torn ACL this season and finished with 36 catches, 423 receiving yards, and two touchdowns over 12 games. Nelson signed a two-year extension earlier this week and will likely be the Jets' No. 4 receiver for 2014.

David Nelson caught four passes for 33 yards and two touchdowns in Week 16 against the Browns.

Nelson was targeted five times on the day, and the scores were his first two of the season. The former Brown beat Buster Skrine for one touchdown. He got the best of rookie Jordan Poyer for the other out a trips bunch. Nelson hasn't topped 44 yards in a game since October. He and the Jets will travel to Miami for the season finale. Nelson will work in on three-wide sets.

David Nelson caught three passes for 41 yards in the Jets' Week 15 loss to the Panthers.

Nelson played the slot in four-wide sets and was featured on third downs. All three of his catches came in the first-half and he was only targeted four times in the passing game. Nelson briefly exited in the second quarter and may have suffered an upper body injury. He'll remain off the fantasy radar for Week 16 against the Browns

David Nelson had four catches for 32 yards in Sunday's Week 14 win over the Raiders.

Nelson didn't start with Jeremy Kerley back in the lineup, but played in three-wide sets. He secured all four of his targets in the passing game from Geno Smith. Nelson has little upside as a possession receiver in a run-heavy offense and could lose playing time if Stephen Hill (knee) returns next week. He remains off the fantasy radar.

David Nelson caught three passes for 37 yards in Sunday's Week 13 loss to Miami.

Nelson led the Jets in receiving and finished with a team-high eight targets. He has little upside in a struggling run-heavy offense. Nelson could lose snaps with Jeremy Kerley (elbow) on track to return next week. Continue to leave Nelson on the waiver wire in the majority of fantasy leagues.
Sun, Dec 1, 2013 06:01:00 PM

David Nelson was held catch-less in the Jets' Week 12 loss to the Ravens.

Nelson was reportedly going to start against the Ravens over Stephen Hill, but Hill got the first-team nod instead. Regardless, no Jets receiver has legit fantasy value right now. They are playing in a four-man rotation with Jeremy Kerley (elbow) due back soon, and major problems at the quarterback position.
Sun, Nov 24, 2013 04:44:00 PM

David Nelson is expected to replace Stephen Hill in the Jets starting lineup.

Hill, a size/speed freak the Jets traded up to nab with the 43rd overall pick in 2012, is losing his job to a former undrafted free agent coming off a torn ACL. Nelson won't have any fantasy upside as Geno Smith and the Jets' ground-n-pound scheme can barely support one wideout.
Tue, Nov 19, 2013 10:18:00 AM

David Nelson was held to one catch for 12 yards in Week 11.

The Jets employed a deep receiver rotation against Buffalo, with Greg Salas scattered in amongst Nelson, Santonio Holmes, and Stephen Hill. It's not a good fantasy situation with New York struggling so much at quarterback. Geno Smith was benched for Matt Simms in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss.
Sun, Nov 17, 2013 04:46:00 PM

David Nelson caught one pass for 19 yards in Sunday's Week 9 win over the Saints.

With Geno Smith attempted just 19 passes all day, Nelson never had a shot. He saw three targets, but the quick screens went to Greg Salas. Even though Nelson had eight catches in Week 8, he's not worth holding through the Jets' Week 10 bye. The play of Smith combined with the desire to ground-n-pound will nix viability.
