Miami-Dade County prosecutors have dropped battery charges against Dolphins S Jonathon Amaya.

The special teamer was accused of choking a cab driver in Miami Beach on November 26. Amaya finished 2012 with eight tackles in 12 games. He's headed for restricted free agency.

Primarily a special teamer, Amaya was sent to the Saints in the Reggie Bush trade last year. Nolan had played just three defensive snaps this season.

Amaya was signed off the street by the Dolphins in October of last season and ended up appearing in 10 games. He's considered a special teams ace. The Saints are also likely to receive a late-round pick in exchange for Bush.
