ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss lists S Sergio Brown on the roster bubble.

Brown has been a favorite of Bill Belichick since signing with New England after going undrafted in 2010. It appears he may have hit a snag in his development, however, as the team has buried him on the depth chart. Brown is no higher than fifth on the safety depth chart after Saturday's re-signing of James Ihedigbo.

The Patriots gave S Sergio Brown a four-year contract and a $35,000 signing bonus when they signed him off the practice squad before Week 7.

It's similar to the deal the Rams gave Danario Alexander. Practice squadders are rarely given four-year deals or signing bonuses that large, so it's clear the Pats value Brown. He made a game-changing tackle against the Chargers when he stopped Antonio Gates short of the first-down marker late in the game.

Patriots signed S Sergio Brown off their practice squad, and cut RB Thomas Clayton.

With Jarrad Page (calf) listed as out, Brown will back up starting SS Patrick Chung. We have Chargers QB Philip Rivers ranked as our No. 2 QB for Week 7 at home against New England's injury-riddled secondary.
