Falcons signed S Sergio Brown.

Brown opened last season as the starting free safety for the Jaguars, but he was benched a month into the season before being cut in April. He is likely just a camp body.
Aug 20 - 3:32 PM

Jaguars released S Sergio Brown.

Brown opened 2015 as the Jaguars' starting free safety, but was benched a month into the year. He finished with 38 tackles and zero interceptions, appearing in 15 games. Miscast on defense by Jacksonville, Brown should resurface as a special teamer. The Jaguars are moving forward with Tashaun Gipson.
Apr 18 - 5:04 PM

Sergio Brown has a "firm lock" on the Jaguars' starting free safety job.

As expected. Brown was never facing much competition from Josh Evans and Matt Daniels, but coach Gus Bradley praised Brown after the Jaguars' second preseason game. After playing 531 snaps for Indianapolis last season, Brown will be an every-down player for the Jaguars next to SS Johnathan Cyprien. Brown will focus on covering the back end, allowing Cyprien to play close to the line.

Sergio Brown is expected to open the season as the Jaguars' starting free safety.

Brown received the 24th-highest safety grade from Pro Football Focus in 2014. Most of his 531 snaps came during LaRon Landry's four-game suspension for PEDs. Jaguars beat writer Ryan O'Halloran called free safety an "every-down, all-day position." If that holds true, Brown should get plenty of work this season.

Jaguars agreed to terms with S Sergio Brown, formerly of the Colts, on a three-year contract.

Brown started eight games last season, but is primarily a special teamer. Perhaps he'll be in the mix to start opposite Johnathan Cyprien, but would ideally be Jacksonville's No. 3 or 4 safety.

Colts re-signed S Sergio Brown.

Brown is one of the Colts' special teams aces. He played only 28 snaps on defense last season.

Colts S Sergio Brown was forced from Sunday's game against the Texans with a groin injury, and will not return.

Brown is a key special teamer. The quick rule out suggests he's dealing with a significant pull.

Colts S Sergio Brown fractured his hand in Week 12 but is expected to play in Sunday's game against the Titans.

Brown, a core special teamer, had surgery on Tuesday and will likely play with a club Sunday. As coach Chuck Pagano said, he's one tough cookie.

Colts claimed S Sergio Brown off waivers from the Patriots.

Brown is taking S Jermale Hines' roster spot. Brown saw heavy snaps on defense for the Patriots last season, but should be primarily limited to special teams in Indy.

ESPN Boston's Mike Reiss lists S Sergio Brown on the roster bubble.

Brown has been a favorite of Bill Belichick since signing with New England after going undrafted in 2010. It appears he may have hit a snag in his development, however, as the team has buried him on the depth chart. Brown is no higher than fifth on the safety depth chart after Saturday's re-signing of James Ihedigbo.

The Patriots gave S Sergio Brown a four-year contract and a $35,000 signing bonus when they signed him off the practice squad before Week 7.

It's similar to the deal the Rams gave Danario Alexander. Practice squadders are rarely given four-year deals or signing bonuses that large, so it's clear the Pats value Brown. He made a game-changing tackle against the Chargers when he stopped Antonio Gates short of the first-down marker late in the game.

Patriots signed S Sergio Brown off their practice squad, and cut RB Thomas Clayton.

With Jarrad Page (calf) listed as out, Brown will back up starting SS Patrick Chung. We have Chargers QB Philip Rivers ranked as our No. 2 QB for Week 7 at home against New England's injury-riddled secondary.
