Jaguars claimed DT Kyle Love off waivers from the Patriots.
Love, 26, was waived by the Pats after recently being diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes. New England gave him the choice of sitting out a year or taking his walking papers and finding work elsewhere. Love started 24 games over the last two seasons, recording 58 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He'll likely compete with Roy Miller to fill the Brandon Mebane nose-tackle role in Gus Bradley's defense. Former Patriots DT Kyle Love's agent says his client will not pursue legal action against the team right now.

Per PFT, the Patriots cut Love for one reason: He has Type-2 diabetes. The former starting defensive tackle could have a case under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but Love's current focus is on finding a new team. The Patriots clearly didn't think Love would be able to contribute this season after recently losing 20 pounds. There's a good chance another team will.

Patriots released/non-football illness DT Kyle Love.

Only 26 years old and a 24-game starter next to Vince Wilfork the past two seasons, Love recently lost a large amount of weight and was diagnosed with Type-2 diabetes. The Love camp is confident he'll be 100 percent soon. Love recorded 4.5 sacks between 2011 and 2012, and last year graded out as a top-20 run-stuffing defensive tackle in Pro Football Focus' ratings, although the Pats had clearly begun to sour on him. Still young with a history of effectiveness, 6-foot-1, 310-pound Love should generate interest around the NFL.

The injury that knocked Patriots DT Kyle Love from the AFC Championship game was a knee sprain.

Love will not need surgery, and a combination of rest and rehab should do the trick. After starting 12 games this season, Love will enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2013 and should be a rotational lineman next to Vince Wilfork.

Patriots DT Kyle Love was forced from the AFC Championship Game with a knee injury, and is questionable to return.

Love hasn't played since New England's first defensive series. It's bad news for the Pats, as DE Chandler Jones is already limited with an ankle injury. DL Justin Francis should be in for a much bigger workload than usual.

Patriots signed DT Kyle Love to a new two-year, $3.09 million contract.

Love had been signed through 2012, owed $540,000 before his restricted free agency year in 2013. So the Pats essentially "bought out" the RFA season and he'll be eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2014. A fire hydrant at 6-foot-1, 310, Love opened the preseason at left defensive end in a 3-4 package. Love can also play the nose in tandem with fellow inside plugger Vince Wilfork.

The Patriots are working on a two-year extension with DT Kyle Love.

An exclusive rights free agent, Love's 2012 scheduled salary is $540,000. After a terrific season as a run stopper next to Vince Wilfork, the Patriots are willing to essentially buy out Love's 2013 restricted free agent year and give him a signing bonus on a multi-year contract. They've done similar things with CB Kyle Arrington and LB Gary Guyton in recent seasons.

Patriots re-signed exclusive rights free agent DT Kyle Love.

Love will make $540,000 in 2012. A former undrafted free agent, Love had a breakout 2011 season after appearing in just nine games in 2010, making 33 tackles and three sacks while proving to be an adept run stuffer. Still just 25, the Pats could eventually move to lock Love up with a long-term deal.

Based on film study, the NFL Network Playbook crew named New England's Kyle Love as one of the most improved defensive tackles in the NFL in 2011.

Their other picks were Geno Atkins and Isaac Sopoaga. Love, a 2010 undrafted free agent from Mississippi State, showed the ability to "hold two gaps" as a second-year starter, and showed up on tape as a "dirt dog," blue-collar player with disciplined performance to make the Patriots' defensive line a strength.

The rotational lineman is considered questionable to return. The Patriots are already thin up front with Albert Haynesworth inactive this week.
