Jeff Cumberland caught four passes for 50 yards in the Jets' Week 1 win over Oakland.
Cumberland got the start at tight end ahead of both Zach Sudfeld and rookie Jace Amaro. Amaro caught 2-of-4 targets for a meager seven yards. Cumberland continues to be a big part of the Jets' offense, but doesn't quite have a reliable enough role to warrant fantasy consideration. As Amaro's role continues to grow, Cumberland's will shrink. He's the in-line tight end for Gang Green. Sep 7 - 5:50 PM

Date:

Jeff Cumberland is already running behind Jace Amaro in pass-oriented personnel packages.

Cumberland is going to be the in-line complement to Amaro, who is essentially a rocked-up wideout. Cumberland will be lucky to reach last year's 26-398-4 line.
Jun 24 - 5:37 PM

Jets re-signed TE Jeff Cumberland to a three-year, $5.7 million contract, including $1 million guaranteed.

The money is right. Cumberland played in a timeshare with Kellen Winslow last season, but the Jets believe he's still developing and are reportedly confident in his ability to take the "next step." With Winslow gone, Cumberland will have a chance to be an every-down player. Per the NY Daily News, the Jets could still look to pair Cumberland with another tight end and have had internal discussions about free agents Brandon Pettigrew, Ed Dickson, and Scott Chandler. Cumberland, 27 in May, finished the 2013 season with a 26-398-4 receiving line. Despite the Jets' optimism, we've seen little on Cumberland's game tape that suggests he'll ever grow into a serious fantasy asset. He's a TE2/3.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are in "serious negotiations" with free agent TE Jeff Cumberland.

The Jets love Cumberland and reportedly expect him to make a big jump in his development next season. It's unclear whether a deal will get hammered out before free agency opens Tuesday afternoon, but the sides have been talking for a few weeks. Cumberland would ideally be a No. 2 catch-first tight end.
Mar 7 - 11:53 AM

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are in discussions with free agent TE Jeff Cumberland.

The team is reportedly "bullish" on Cumberland's ability to take the next step in his development. Cumberland has soft hands and was a college wideout, but won't scare defenses. He wouldn't be a bad "1B" to a tight end with better movement skills and speed. Cumberland is our No. 15 free-agent tight end.

Jeff Cumberland had one catch for 30 yards in Sunday's Week 17 win over Miami.

Cumberland caught a game-sealing 30-yard halfback pass from Bilal Powell late in the fourth quarter. It was his only catch of the game. He finishes 2013 with 26 catches for 398 yards and four touchdowns, playing in a committee with Kellen Winslow. The Jets will likely look to upgrade at tight end in the offseason.

Jeff Cumberland had three catches for 50 yards in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Panthers.

Cumberland started over Kellen Winslow and led the Jets in receiving. He beat Luke Kuechly on an impressive 35-yard catch in the third quarter and later scored on a eight-yard touchdown from Geno Smith. Cumberland should continue to see targets ahead of Winslow going forward, but remains off the fantasy radar.

Jeff Cumberland was held without a catch in Week 14.

Cumberland is behind Kellen Winslow for targets and has fewer than 10 yards in four of his last five games. Continue to ignore him in all fantasy formats.

Jeff Cumberland had just one catch for six yards in Sunday's Week 13 loss to Miami.

Cumberland started, but was used in a rotation with Kellen Winslow. He was targeted only three times and has fewer than 10 yards in three of his last four games.
Sun, Dec 1, 2013 06:09:00 PM

Jeff Cumberland was held to one catch for nine yards in Week 12.

Rotating with Kellen Winslow, Cumberland is a plodding mover on a poor passing team. We hope you don't even feel the need to roster him in fantasy leagues for Week 13 against the Dolphins.

Jeff Cumberland caught three passes for 25 yards and a touchdown in the Jets' Week 11 loss to the Bills.

He played ahead of Kellen Winslow, who is back from suspension but produced just one reception for 17 yards. Due to the Jets' tight end committee, Cumberland and Winslow are waiver-wire fodder in standard fantasy leagues.

Jeff Cumberland (concussion) returned to a full practice Wednesday, ditching the red no-contact jersey.

Cumberland suffered a "mild" concussion in Week 8. He sat out the Week 9 game and got the bye week to rest up even further. Cumberland is expected back for Sunday's divisional tilt with the Bills. He'll be a low-end TE2.

Jeff Cumberland (concussion) is inactive for Sunday's Week 9 game against the Saints.

Cumberland should have no problem getting cleared during the Week 10 bye. The Jets will be forced to roll with Patriots castoff Zach Sudfeld as their every-down tight end. Santonio Holmes (hamstring) also remains out. The rest of the Jets inactives: QB David Garrard, RB Alex Green, G William Campbell, OL Ben Ijilana and OT Oday Aboushi.

Jets coach Rex Ryan said TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) has not yet been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Cumberland was able to practice on a limited basis this week, but is still in the final stage of his concussion protocol. He's officially listed as questionable and will likely come down to a game-time decision.

Jets TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) will not play in Week 9 against the Saints.

Cumberland wasn't cleared to practice Wednesday and will be held out this week after suffering what was initially called a "mild" concussion. Zach Sudfeld had two catches for 10 yards filling in last week and will draw the start.
