Jets declared TE Jeff Cumberland, G Willie Colon, OG Jarvis Harrison, T Ben Ijalana, LB Jamari Lattimore, WR Chris Owusu and CB Darrin Walls inactive for Week 4 against the Dolphins.
Cumberland was ruled out early in the week after suffering a concussion against the Eagles in Week 3. With Jace Amaro (shoulder) and Zach Sudfeld (ACL) already on injured reserve, the Jets are incredibly thin at tight end. Kellen Davis will start there in Week 4 with Wes Saxton serving as the backup. Jets TE Jeff Cumberland (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 4.

The Jets will likely turn to blocker Kellen Davis at tight end on London.
Sep 30 - 8:00 PM

Jets TE Jeff Cumberland is week to week with a concussion.

It's an extra tough week for Cumberland to be concussed, as the Jets have to make a transatlantic flight to London. We'd guess he misses Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Kellen Davis is next up on the depth chart. With Jace Amaro and Zach Sudfeld both on I.R., the Jets will likely have to sign a tight end off the street in the next 24 hours.

Jets TE Jeff Cumberland is done for the day in Week 3 with a head injury.

Very often, head injuries are concussions. Cumberland is the Jets' starting tight end in the absence of Jace Amaro, who went on I.R. toward the end of camp. Before leaving, Cumberland had two catches for 10 yards on four targets.
Sep 27 - 4:15 PM

Jets TE Jeff Cumberland caught 2-of-3 targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Dolphins.

Cumberland spent 2014 in a rotation with rookie Jace Amaro, finishing with a 23-247-3 receiving line. A former college wide receiver, Cumberland has been billed as a plus athlete, but does not play like it on the field and is also a liability as a blocker. The Jets signed Cumberland to a new three-year, $5.7 million contract last March, so he'll likely be back with the club in 2015. He has zero Dynasty value. The team will hope for a 2015 step forward from tight end of the future Amaro.

Jeff Cumberland caught 3-of-5 targets for 43 yards and a touchdown in New York's Week 16 loss to the Patriots.

The touchdown was Cumberland's second of the season. He enters Week 17 the owner of 21 catches.

Jeff Cumberland caught 3-of-4 targets for 50 yards and a touchdown in New York's Week 7 loss to the Patriots.

The score was Cumberland's third of the season, while the three-catch effort was just his third. Cumberland will head into Week 8 the owner of a 15/154/1 line.

Jeff Cumberland caught four passes for 50 yards in the Jets' Week 1 win over Oakland.

Cumberland got the start at tight end ahead of both Zach Sudfeld and rookie Jace Amaro. Amaro caught 2-of-4 targets for a meager seven yards. Cumberland continues to be a big part of the Jets' offense, but doesn't quite have a reliable enough role to warrant fantasy consideration. As Amaro's role continues to grow, Cumberland's will shrink. He's the in-line tight end for Gang Green.

Jeff Cumberland is already running behind Jace Amaro in pass-oriented personnel packages.

Cumberland is going to be the in-line complement to Amaro, who is essentially a rocked-up wideout. Cumberland will be lucky to reach last year's 26-398-4 line.

Jets re-signed TE Jeff Cumberland to a three-year, $5.7 million contract, including $1 million guaranteed.

The money is right. Cumberland played in a timeshare with Kellen Winslow last season, but the Jets believe he's still developing and are reportedly confident in his ability to take the "next step." With Winslow gone, Cumberland will have a chance to be an every-down player. Per the NY Daily News, the Jets could still look to pair Cumberland with another tight end and have had internal discussions about free agents Brandon Pettigrew, Ed Dickson, and Scott Chandler. Cumberland, 27 in May, finished the 2013 season with a 26-398-4 receiving line. Despite the Jets' optimism, we've seen little on Cumberland's game tape that suggests he'll ever grow into a serious fantasy asset. He's a TE2/3.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are in "serious negotiations" with free agent TE Jeff Cumberland.

The Jets love Cumberland and reportedly expect him to make a big jump in his development next season. It's unclear whether a deal will get hammered out before free agency opens Tuesday afternoon, but the sides have been talking for a few weeks. Cumberland would ideally be a No. 2 catch-first tight end.

The New York Daily News reports the Jets are in discussions with free agent TE Jeff Cumberland.

The team is reportedly "bullish" on Cumberland's ability to take the next step in his development. Cumberland has soft hands and was a college wideout, but won't scare defenses. He wouldn't be a bad "1B" to a tight end with better movement skills and speed. Cumberland is our No. 15 free-agent tight end.

Jeff Cumberland had one catch for 30 yards in Sunday's Week 17 win over Miami.

Cumberland caught a game-sealing 30-yard halfback pass from Bilal Powell late in the fourth quarter. It was his only catch of the game. He finishes 2013 with 26 catches for 398 yards and four touchdowns, playing in a committee with Kellen Winslow. The Jets will likely look to upgrade at tight end in the offseason.

Jeff Cumberland had three catches for 50 yards in Sunday's Week 15 loss to the Panthers.

Cumberland started over Kellen Winslow and led the Jets in receiving. He beat Luke Kuechly on an impressive 35-yard catch in the third quarter and later scored on a eight-yard touchdown from Geno Smith. Cumberland should continue to see targets ahead of Winslow going forward, but remains off the fantasy radar.

Jeff Cumberland was held without a catch in Week 14.

Cumberland is behind Kellen Winslow for targets and has fewer than 10 yards in four of his last five games. Continue to ignore him in all fantasy formats.
