Chiefs re-signed OLB Frank Zombo.

The former Packer had a solid first season in Kansas City, appearing in all 16 games and making five starts. Although primarily a special teamer, Zombo notched two sacks, a pick and a forced fumble as a defensive fill-in. He'll serve in the same role in 2014.

Chiefs signed OLB Frank Zombo, formerly of the Packers.

He's reuniting with ex-Packers personnel man John Dorsey, who's now the GM in Kansas City. Zombo, 26, racked up four sacks in 2010 but his production has dipped steadily since and he managed eight sack-less tackles last season as a reserve in Green Bay. He'll compete to back up Justin Houston and Tamba Hali.

Packers activated OLB Frank Zombo (hamstring) from the PUP list.

Zombo will slide into the rotation at outside 'backer behind Erik Walden and Clay Matthews. He'll see some snaps with first-round pick Nick Perry out this week with a knee injury. Zombo has battled injuries throughout his entire career.

Packers declared LB Frank Zombo, TE D.J. Williams, OT Chad Clifton, G Ray Dominguez, LB Robert Francois, LB Jamari Lattimore, and CB Davon House inactive for Week 11 against the Bucs.

Zombo has battled a hamstring strain among several other injuries this season. Clifton (hamstring) is targeting Week 13 for a return.

Packers declared OLB Frank Zombo, CB Davon House, LB Robert Francois, LB Jamari Lattimore, G/T Ray Dominguez, LT Chad Clifton, and DE Mike Neal inactive for Monday Night Football against the Vikings.

Zombo is out with a hamstring strain. Neal is missing this game with a knee injury, but has made substantial progress and could return for Week 11. Marshall Newhouse gets another start at left tackle with Clifton (hamstring) out.

The Packers have ruled out OLB Frank Zombo (hamstring) and DE Mike Neal (knee) for Week 10.

Playing in just his second game of the season last Sunday, Zombo pulled up lame. As he's been doing nearly all year, Erik Walden will fill-in at right outside linebacker. Neal has resumed practicing, but remains week-to-week.

Packers OLB Frank Zombo was forced from Sunday's win with a left hamstring injury.

Zombo was appearing in just his second game of the season thanks to knee issues. His status is uncertain, but he's a poor bet to suit up against the Vikings. Erik Walden should continue to see the bulk of the snaps at right outside linebacker in Zombo's absence.

The Packers have ruled out OLB Frank Zombo (knee) for Week 7.

The initial diagnosis was a knee hyperextension, usually a 2-4 week injury. Erik Walden will continue to start at right outside linebacker after rotating with Zombo against the Rams. Walden has just one sack through six games.

Packers OLB Frank Zombo suffered a hyperextended knee in Sunday's win over the Rams, but was able to play through it.

Zombo was making his 2011 debut after sitting out the Packers' first five games with a shoulder injury. He split reps with Erik Walden at right outside linebacker, notching four tackles. Once he gets back to 100 percent health, Zombo should be able to regain his starting job.

Packers OLB Frank Zombo (shoulder) returned to practice Wednesday.

Zombo has an outside chance to play in Sunday's game against the Falcons, which would be two weeks earlier than his expected return. A healthy Zombo figures to quickly make up ground on current starter Erik Walden.

Packers OLB Frank Zombo (shoulder) expects to return to practice next week.

Zombo had an X-ray of his fractured shoulder blade on Thursday. "I feel 100 percent, I feel great," said Zombo, "and so basically once they take a look at that, they’ll determine when I can get back." Erik Walden is Pro Football Focus' 27th-ranked outside linebacker through three weeks, so Zombo could regain his starting job in a few weeks.

Packers OLB Frank Zombo will miss a "significant" amount of time after fracturing his scapula in warmups prior to the team's second preseason game.

The scapula is another term for the shoulder blade. Zombo might be a candidate for injured reserve, depending on the Packers medical staff's timetable. Zombo and Erik Walden have been rotating with the first-team defense at right outside linebacker, so that job now figures to go to Walden. There have been rumors that Brad Jones, a starter in 2009, is on the roster bubble.

Frank Zombo started the Packers' preseason opener at right outside linebacker and lined up with the first team there on Monday.

All signs point toward Zombo being in the lead as he battles Erik Walden and Brad Jones for the starting gig. While coach Mike McCarthy won't declare the competition over, Zombo's pass-rush ability gives him the edge. He also started Super Bowl XLV, recording five solo tackles and a sack.

Pro Football Weekly believes the competition to be named the Packers' starting ROLB this summer will be completely wide open.

Writer Dan Arkush says "nobody has a clue at the moment" as to whom among Frank Zombo, Erik Walden or Brad Jones will win the job. He also believes Green Bay very well may end up spending its No. 32 pick on an OLB. If they do, Georgia's Justin Houston is a distinct possibility
