49ers re-signed exclusive rights free agent CB Tramaine Brock to a one-year, $540,000 contract.

An undrafted free agent in 2010, Brock opened last season as the Niners' nickel back, but a Week 2 hand injury sent him tumbling down the depth chart. He finished with just five tackles and two picks in 11 games. Brock could get another shot at nickel duties in 2012 if free agent Carlos Rogers is not re-signed.

49ers CB Tramaine Brock is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a broken right hand.

Brock opened the year as the Niners' nickel back, but has focused on special teams since being passed for that job by Shawntae Spencer two games ago. Brock's absence could also lead to more opportunities for rookie Chris Culliver.

49ers CB Tramaine Brock injured his right hand in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 2 game against Dallas.

His return is questionable. Brock is a backup cornerback and special teamer, and we'll let you know when/if we see him back on the field.

It's the second time he's been signed off the practice squad this season. He'll play special teams this weekend if he's even active.

It's the second time the team has waived Brock in a month. The Niners released Jehuu Caulcrick from the practice squad, a sign that Brock will take his place if he clears waivers.

49ers signed CB Tramaine Brock off their practice squad and waived OLB Diyral Briggs.

Brock's addition gives San Francisco four healthy corners for Monday night's matchup with Drew Brees and the spread-like Saints offense. With Ahmad Brooks over his lacerated kidney, the backup Briggs was no longer needed.
