Broncos signed S Darian Stewart to a four-year, $28 million extension.
The deal includes $17.5 million guaranteed. It's a huge raise for a player with Stewart's background, but he's coming off a strong Week 10 and has graded as one of the best safeties in the league this year. The Broncos are invested heavily in their secondary with Aqib Talib ($9.5 million), Chris Harris ($8.5 million), and T.J. Ward ($5.6 million) all under contract. Stewart was set to be a free agent after the season, but is now signed through 2020. Sat, Nov 26, 2016 04:14:00 PM

Broncos FS Darian Stewart (knee) won’t wear a brace in the Super Bowl.

Stewart didn’t have any setbacks after practicing fully the last two days. Playing without a brace should give him fewer restrictions. Stewart should see lots of Greg Olsen in coverage.

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said safeties Darian Stewart (knee) and T.J. Ward (ankle) are "right where they need to be" in their recoveries.

Both were listed as questionable on last week's injury report, but both returned to a limited practice Wednesday. It remains to be seen how effective Stewart and Ward can be while banged up, but there is little doubt the duo will play.

The Broncos continue to expect FS Darian Stewart (MCL) and SS T.J. Ward (ankle) to be ready for Super Bowl 50.

Neither starter's availability is in doubt. It's their effectiveness that will be the question. Stewart is playing through a "minor" MCL sprain. Ward is dealing with an ankle he's injured multiple times.

Broncos FS Darian Stewart suffered a sprained MCL in Sunday's AFC Championship Game victory over the Patriots, but expects to play in Super Bowl 50.

"Hell yeah I will be ready for Super Bowl," Stewart said afterward. Players are often overly optimistic about injuries, but Stewart has two weeks to receive treatment for what's reportedly a minor MCL injury. His status will be key, as T.J. Ward (ankle) is also banged up, and the Broncos have precious little safety depth.

Broncos FS Darian Stewart (hamstring) returned to practice Saturday.

It gives Stewart a chance to return after missing the last two days of practice and sitting out last week. The Broncos should also get SS T.J. Ward (ankle) back against the Bengals.

Darian Stewart is working as a first-team safety at Broncos OTAs.

Stewart said earlier this month the free safety job was his to lose, and DC Wade Phillips agreed. Omar Bolden could push him, but Stewart should open the season as the starter if Bradley Roby doesn't convert to safety full time.

Darian Stewart believes the Broncos' free safety job is his to lose.

Stewart's $1.25M signing bonus makes him the favorite to open the season opposite T.J. Ward. He managed to stay healthy for the first time in his career last season, grading out positively across 782 snaps by PFF. Stewart could be reduced to a sub-package role if the Broncos move Bradley Roby to safety in base sets.

Broncos signed FS Darian Stewart to a two-year contract.

Turning 27 before the season, Stewart was a top-30 safety among 87 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' 2014 grades. He compiled 53 tackles and an interception, primarily at strong safety. Stewart does have free safety starts on his resume and will play there in Denver across from SS T.J. Ward.

Free agent S Darian Stewart will visit the Falcons after he's done visiting Denver.

Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News says the Giants are also interested, though no visit has been scheduled. Stewart played all 16 games for Baltimore last season, the first time he's done that in his career. The Falcons are looking to replace Dwight Lowery at free safety.

Free agent S Darian Stewart will visit the Broncos on Thursday.

With FS Rahim Moore expected to depart in free agency, the Broncos have an opening opposite T.J. Ward. Stewart started 14-of-16 games for the Ravens last season, performing well while playing his most snaps (782) since 2011.

The Baltimore Sun confirms Darian Stewart will open training camp as the Ravens' starting free safety.

Stewart played with the first-team defense throughout OTAs and minicamp. He's competing with rookie Terrance Brooks and Jeromy Miles to start opposite Matt Elam. Stewart has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but is the heavy favorite to win the job as long as he stays healthy.

Ravens S Darian Stewart is the front-runner to start at free safety after running with the first-team defense during OTAs.

Stewart has struggled with injuries throughout his career, but he is healthy now and doing "a nice job" according to coach John Harbaugh. The job looks like Stewart's to lose as long as he stays healthy. Third-round S Terrance Brooks ran with the third-team defense during OTAs.

ESPN Ravens blogger Jamison Hensley considers Darian Stewart a "fallback option" at free safety.

Stewart is currently penciled in the starting lineup opposite Matt Elam, but has a history of injury concerns and struggled to play above replacement-level when healthy. The Ravens would be smart to draft a safety in the first or second round, allowing Stewart to be used in a situational role. 25-year-old Stewart has yet to play a full season in his four-year career.

Darian Stewart is expected to be the Ravens starting free safety.

Stewart started 13 games for Steve Spagnuolo's Rams in 2011. Spags is now on the Ravens staff and loves Stewart. The former UDFA had 84 tackles, three sacks, and a pick-six during the 2011 campaign. Stewart has battled nagging injuries his entire career and will need to stay healthy to keep the job.
