Redskins placed TE Logan Paulsen on injured reserve with a severe case of turf toe, ending his season.

Paulsen will have surgery to repair the turf toe on Monday. He was going to serve as Washington's in-line blocking complement to Niles Paul and Jordan Reed, who are more movement-oriented, catch-first tight ends.

Redskins TE Logan Paulsen (turf toe) will undergo surgery Monday, and is out for the season.

This was expected after Paulsen visited with Dr. Robert Anderson this week. With Niles Paul on I.R. and Jordan Reed (hamstring) sidelined, the Redskins could add a free-agent tight end. Fred Davis and Zach Miller are among the veteran options available. Washington could also consider bringing back Chris Cooley.

Redskins TE Logan Paulsen traveled to North Carolina Tuesday to have his toe examined by Dr. Robert Anderson.

The Redskins are still trying to determine the severity of his injury. A trip to Dr. Anderson's office suggests Paulsen might need toe surgery. Paulsen is a blocking tight end. Chase Dixon, Je'Ron Hamm and Devin Mahina will get more practice reps with Paulsen and Jordan Reed (hamstring) sidelined.

Logan Paulsen caught 3-of-3 targets for 28 yards in the Redskins' Week 4 loss to the Giants, also losing a fumble.

Paulsen's cough up came two plays after the Redskins lost Niles Paul to a concussion. Paulsen will get the start in Week 5 against the Seahawks if neither Paul nor Jordan Reed (hamstring) can go. He won't be on the TE2 radar.

Starting in place of Jordan Reed (concussion), Logan Paulsen caught three passes for 44 yards and a touchdown in Washington's Week 14 loss to the Chiefs.

Logan Paulsen had three catches for 41 yards and a touchdown in Sunday night's Week 13 loss to the Giants.

Paulsen started again this week with Jordan Reed (concussion) sidelined, but played behind Fred Davis with the Redskins' running their no-huddle offense to open the game. His touchdown came on a 19-yard strike from Robert Griffin in the second quarter and he finished with four targets. Even if Reed doesn't return in Week 14, Paulsen won't be on the TE2 radar.

Logan Paulsen did not catch a pass in Sunday's Week 11 loss at Philadelphia.

Even with Jordan Reed (concussion) sidelined for the entire second half, Paulsen saw a mere three targets. Fred Davis is Reed's backup at the move tight end spot.

Backup Redskins TE Logan Paulsen caught two passes for three yards and a touchdown in Washington's Week 10 loss to the Vikings.

Left completely uncovered as the Redskins went with play action on a 3rd-and-1 from the Vikings' one-yard line with time running out in the first half, Paulsen scored his first touchdown of the season. It will quite likely be his last. Paulsen has 13 catches in nine games.

Redskins TE Logan Paulsen caught two passes for 46 yards in Washington's Week 4 win over Oakland.

He also lost a fumble. Paulsen played a larger role than usual because Jordan Reed (groin) was inactive and Fred Davis (ankle) was hobbled, seeing only one target. Paulsen will likely resume blocking-specialist duties when Washington emerges from its Week 5 open date.
