Browns signed DL Brian Sanford from the team's practice squad.

Sanford takes the roster spot vacated by Scott Fujita (neck, injured reserve). The 25-year-old made five tackles in five games with Cleveland last season.

Brian Sanford - DL - Browns

Browns waived DL Brian Sanford and Scott Paxson.

Paxson was waived/injured. Sanford appeared in five games last season, making three tackles. A reserve nose tackle, Paxson suited up for all 16 games in 2011, tallying 21 tackles and a sack.

Browns signed DL Brian Sanford from the practice squad, and released T Paul McQuistan.

McQuistan did not play in any games after being with the team for four weeks. Sanford, an undrafted free agent out of Temple, will provide depth along the defensive line with Kenyon Coleman (knee) and Shaun Rogers (ankle) listed as questionable for Week 10.

We don't doubt that the Browns are being extra cautious with last year's No. 3 overall pick, but the problem is Richardson requiring so much caution to begin with. He's been banged up since the second his name was called in New York, and never really approached 100 percent health as a rookie.
