Vikings S Andrew Sendejo (ankle) has not practiced this week.

Sendejo injured his ankle attempting to run back an interception against the Eagles. Despite being called day to day after the game, he was never likely to play this week. The pride of Smithson Valley could be looking at a multi-week absence.

Vikings SS Andrew Sendejo (ankle) is day to day.

Sendejo was limited to six snaps Sunday, and had to be carted to the locker room. We'd guess he'll probably miss Week 8. Jayron Kearse is the next man up.

The St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chris Tomasson does not expect the Vikings to name the starting safety opposite Harrison Smith until late in camp.

"It’ll come down to the games," Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. Andrew Sendejo and veteran Michael Griffin are the two front-runners, but Tomasson reports Antone Exum is getting a "long look" as well. Vikings.com's Mike Wobschall believes the job is Sendejo's to lose.
Aug 2 - 11:02 AM

Vikings.com's Mike Wobschall believes the starting safety spot next to Harrison Smith is Andrew Sendejo's to lose.

Sendejo looked like the locked-in starter after the Vikings gave him a four-year, $16 million deal in March, but that changed when they added Michael Griffin four days later. Sendejo has held off the veteran to this point, but his grip on the starting spot is tenuous entering camp. Antone Exum is also in the mix.

Vikings S Andrew Sendejo could lose his starting job.

The Vikings are making Sendejo compete despite giving him a four-year offseason extension. Sendejo has been getting the majority of first-team reps, but Michael Griffin and 2015 UDFA Anthony Harris are in the mix for snaps. Even if he starts, Sendejo shouldn’t have a full-time role.
Jun 11 - 4:36 PM

Vikings re-signed S Andrew Sendejo to a four-year, $16 million contract with $2.5 million guaranteed.

Sendejo was scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent. The Vikings have been crystal clear in their desire to find a top-end starter next to Harrison Smith, and it did not appear they viewed Sendejo as that guy. $4 million annually is starter-level money, however, suggesting Sendejo has the inside track to open 2016 in the starting lineup. This move all but assures free agent S Robert Blanton will be playing elsewhere. Sendejo has been with the Vikings since 2011.
Mar 5 - 1:56 PM

Vikings S Andrew Sendejo has started the team's first two games at strong safety.

Sendejo was benched Week 1 for Robert Blanton, who started every preseason game, but he got the nod again Week 2. Sendejo had five tackles and a fumble recovery against the Lions. He should keep his starting job at least another week.

ESPN.com's Ben Goessling expects Andrew Sendejo to compete for the Vikings' strong safety job.

Sendejo made 10 starts filling in for Harrison Smith last year, finishing with 84 tackles and an interception. He should push SS Jamarca Sanford for first-team snaps, but is best suited for a situational role. The Vikings also have two third-round picks and could target a safety in the middle rounds of the draft.
