Saints released DT Kendrick Clancy.
Clancy was brought in for a one-week look-see, but the Saints were never going to guarantee his full 2010 base salary by keeping him on the Week 1 roster. He'll stay on their emergency list for in-season insurance purposes. Fri, Sep 3, 2010 04:21:00 PM

Saints re-signed DT Kendrick Clancy to a one-year contract.

Clancy, 32, is a rotational run stopper who barely played last season due to a knee injury. He may be kept around until just before Week 1, when the Saints will likely release him instead of guaranteeing Clancy an $800K salary.

Per agent Ron Del Duca, DL Kendrick Clancy has drawn interest from the Chiefs, Saints, and Texans.

Clancy only played in two games last season because of an injured knee. Del Duca believes Clancy has a good chance to latch on with one of the three teams, serving as a run stopper and veteran presence.

Saints placed NT Kendrick Clancy (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

It's not a huge loss for the Saints. Anthony Hargrove should see more snaps with Clancy done and Sedrick Ellis out a couple more weeks. Clancy is a free agent after this season.

Beat writer Mike Triplett calls NT Kendrick Clancy the most underrated player on the Saints roster.

Clancy plays the nose next to Sedrick Ellis and has been a quality run-stopper on a defense that doesn't give up a lot of big plays up the middle. The Saints' defensive ends have sorely underachieved over the last two seasons, but their interior line play is an area of strength.

Saints DT Kendrick Clancy (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 16.

Upgrade Kevin Smith's matchup. Clancy plays the nose next to Sedrick Ellis and New Orleans doesn't have a strong backup behind him. Oft-overweight Hollis Thomas, who turns 35 in January, probably will get the starting nod.

Saints DT Kendrick Clancy has won the starting job over Hollis Thomas.

Clancy will be asked to occupy blockers and guard against the run, his specialty. Thomas has been overweight since training camp opened. Antwan Lake will start next to Clancy while Brian Young recovers from foot surgery.

Saints signed DT Kendrick Clancy to a three-year, $5.2 million contract.

A nice pickup for the Saints, who have struggled against the run. Clancy, 28, is a quality run-stopping tackle who should contribute behind Hollis Thomas. The addition could be bad news for either Antwan Lake or Rodney Leisle.

Cardinals released DT Kendrick Clancy and G Milford Brown.

Clancy received $3.5 million to sign a year ago, but is better suited to be a quality backup than a starter. Look for his old team, the Giants, to show immediate interest. Brown's future is less certain, but he'll probably get a job somewhere. Gabe Watson has moved into Clancy's old starting job.

Cardinals DT Kendrick Clancy, FB Obafemi Ayanbadejo, and G Milford Brown are mentioned as possible June 1st cuts for Arizona.

The importance of June first cuts has lessened in recent years as teams have managed their cap better and have a "June first exemption" to use before the actual date. But we'll still probably see a handful of decent vets released this week.

Cardinals DT Kendrick Clancy is not on this week's injury report.

Clancy missed several weeks with a high ankle sprain but appears now to be recovered. He is considered Arizona's top run-stuffing lineman.

Cardinals head coach Dennis Green does not expect defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy (ankle) to play in Week 14.

Rookie Gabe Watson is starting in his place and rotating with Chris Cooper. Clancy still doesn't have a known timetable to return.

The Arizona Republic reports that DT Kendrick Clancy (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 13, "but he won't play."

DT Darnell Dockett left practice early Thursday because of a sore knee, but remains probable.

Cardinals coach Dennis Green says defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy could miss significant time due to his re-aggravated ankle injury.

Arizona is considering starting Chris Cooper at the 4-3 nose tackle position, although rookie Gabe Watson filled in while Clancy was out earlier in the year. The Cardinals' run defense remains quite weak.

DT Kendrick Clancy reportedly suffered a sprained ankle during Sunday's game.

Clancy missed time earlier this season with ankle problems, so it could linger.
