ESPN Dallas expects LT Tyron Smith (questionable, back) to play Sunday against the Packers.

Smith looked unlikely to play after missing practice the last two days, but that may have been rest related. It would be a downgrade to the entire Cowboys offense if he sits. Dallas also listed RT La'el Collins (ankle) as questionable.
Oct 6 - 6:01 PM

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said LT Tyron Smith (back) will not practice Thursday.

Smith was forced from practice Wednesday with what Garrett called back tightness. It is a big concern after he was forced to miss two games last year with a back injury. Garrett is hopeful the tackle will be able to get in some work Friday. Byron Bell will get the start if Smith cannot play against the Packers.
Oct 5 - 11:48 AM

The Cowboys restructured the contracts of LT Tyron Smith and C Travis Frederick, freeing up $17.3 million under the salary cap.

They both dropped their base salaries to the veteran minimum, converting the difference into a "signing" bonus. The Cowboys do this every year, and it has allowed them to keep highly-paid veterans while supplementing the back end of their roster with cheaper talent. It's also why hitting on Dak Prescott was such a huge development for the franchise. Once they part with Tony Romo, Dallas will go from having one of the NFL's tightest cap situations to one of the best.

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith won't need offseason back surgery.

Smith played through a bulging disk in his back for most of the season. The injury wasn't even serious enough to keep him out of the Pro Bowl. Still only 26, Smith has missed just four starts through six NFL seasons and has been voted first- or second-team All Pro in four straight years. He's on a Hall of Fame track.

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (knee) is active for Sunday's Divisional Round game against the Packers.

So are Morris Claiborne (groin), Tyrone Crawford (shoulder), Justin Durant (elbow), Demarcus Lawrence (back), Terrell McClain (ankle) and Cedric Thornton (ankle). DT Richard Ash, G Jonathan Cooper, CB Leon McFadden, RB Alfred Morris, LB Mark Nzeocha and QB Mark Sanchez round out the Cowboys' inactives for Sunday's Divisional Round matchup.

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (knee) is questionable for Sunday's Divisional Round game against the Packers.

Smith put in a limited week of practice. He should be all set for Sunday after sitting out the regular season finale with a sprained MCL. Having Smith, a four-time All-Pro selection, back in the lineup is great news for Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott.
Jan 13 - 4:02 PM

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (knee) is expected to do more in Thursday's practice.

Smith was limited on Wednesday. There does not seem to be much concern about his availability for the Divisional Round, and any worries would be put to bed if he can get in a full practice Thursday or Friday.
Jan 12 - 12:12 PM

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (knee) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

Smith missed the regular season finale with an MCL sprain. The Cowboys haven't had much concern over his Divisional Round status. Smith is fully expected to return for Sunday's matchup with the Packers.
Jan 11 - 5:44 PM

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said he's "optimistic" about LT Tyron Smith's (knee) status for next week's Divisional Round game.

Smith sprained his MCL against the Lions in Week 16. He missed the Cowboys' regular season finale but probably could have played if the game meant something. Smith has practiced this week and should be ready to go for the Divisional Round. Emmett Cleary drew the start at left tackle with Smith sidelined in Week 17.
Jan 6 - 1:33 PM

Cowboys declared LT Tyron Smith (knee), CB Morris Claiborne (groin), DE Tyrone Crawford (shoulder, hamstring), LB Justin Durant (elbow), DE Demarcus Lawrence (back), DT Cedric Thornton (ankle), and DT Terrell McClain (ankle) inactive for Week 17 against the Eagles.

Smith's knee injury is a concern, but he is expected to be ready when the Cowboys open their playoffs in the Divisional Round. Lawrence should also be good to go by then, but Claiborne is more of a question mark. The Cowboys could certainly use both as they attempt a Super Bowl run.
Jan 1 - 11:34 AM

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (right knee) has been ruled out for Week 17, but his right knee injury is not considered serious.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports it's a sprained MCL, but that Smith should be ready for the Divisional Round. Smith's status will be updated many times between now and then. Coach Jason Garrett has said he'll play his healthy starters in Sunday's meaningless finale, but Smith's absence could give him a quicker hook with Dak Prescott.
Tue, Dec 27, 2016 04:19:00 PM

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith said he is "all right" after exiting Week 16 with a knee injury.

Smith left in the second half and never returned. Jerry Jones also said the left tackle was "fine" after the game, and Jason Garrett echoed those sentiments Tuesday morning. It looks like Smith will be good to go for the playoffs, but it would not be surprising to see him sit out the meaningless season finale.

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (back) is listed as questionable for Week 14.

Smith has dealt with back issues all year. The Cowboys limited his reps in practice this week. Smith should be fine for Sunday night's game against the Giants.

Cowboys LT Tyron Smith (back) expects to start Sunday's game.

Smith missed Thursday's practice, but he said it was a planned day of rest. Smith missed Weeks 3 and 4 before returning for last Sunday's win over the Bengals. He should be good to go against the Packers.
