Bills NT Marcell Dareus suffered a broken left foot in Buffalo's Week 17 win over the Jets.
Dareus suffered the injury in the fourth quarter, but played through it. That suggests it could be a minor break, and not a dreaded Lisfranc or "Jones" fracture. Dareus remained a force during his age-25 season, and is signed through 2021. More details about his injury should emerge as the offseason progresses. Jan 4 - 1:58 PM

Bills NT Marcell Dareus was forced from Week 16 with a neck injury.

The Bills ruled him out for the rest of the game. The injury was originally reported as a shoulder issue, but Rex Ryan called it a neck injury after the game. Ryan added Dareus lost some feeling in his hand after the injury. He is likely done for the season.

Marcell Dareus has echoed Mario Williams' complaint about coach Rex Ryan having his defensive linemen drop back into coverage too often.

Per Pro Football Focus, Dareus has dropped back only three times this season, but Williams has on 13 different occasions. "It's not been a lot of times where there have been all four of us, full tilt, ears pined back and we're going after it," Dareus said. Despite boasting one of the league's most talented defensive lines, the Bills have only nine sacks through six games. That needs to change, and in a hurry.

Bills activated NT Marcell Dareus from the reserve/suspended list.

RB Bryce Brown was waived to clear a roster spot. The Bills' front seven was already downright scary in Sunday's upset of the Colts. Dareus' return makes it positively terrifying. The Bills host the Patriots in Week 2. Tom Brady is going to be in for a rude awakening after facing zero resistance against the Steelers in Week 1.

Profootballtalk reports Marcell Dareus' six-year extension is worth "just" $95.1 million, not the initially reported $108 million.

However, the deal does include $60 million guaranteed, $42.9 million of which is guaranteed at signing. Whichever way you slice it, Dareus is now one of the league's highest-paid defensive players.

Bills signed NT Marcell Dareus to six-year, $108 million extension through 2021.

The deal includes $60 million in guaranteed, which is just slightly more than Ndamukong Suh received from the Dolphins this offseason. It is a massive investment in a player who is suspended the first game of the season for a substance-abuse policy violation, but Dareus is simply too talented for the Bills to let go. With Mario Williams and Jerry Hughes also on big deals, the Bills have a lot of money invested in their front seven.

The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci reported the Bills will not negotiate with contract-year NT Marcell Dareus in season.

Both sides have been negotiating through the media, so giving an arbitrary deadline to a reporter is a fair negotiation strategy. The Bills have offered Dareus a six-year extension worth more than $90 million, but Dareus is looking for over $100 million. The franchise tag remains an option if the two sides cannot work out a deal.

Contract-year NT Marcell Dareus said he's "not necessarily" looking for a Ndamukong Suh-type deal.

"I'm not necessarily looking at Suh numbers," Dareus said. "I just want to be treated right." Dareus turned down a six-year, $90 million offer from Buffalo. He's likely asking for a deal in the $100 million range, but less than the $114M Suh got from Miami. Dareus is open to playing under the franchise tag in 2016, which would pay him roughly $11.2 million.

Contract-year NT Marcell Dareus said he wants to remain with the Bills.

"I want to be a part of the Bills, but this is a business," Dareus said. "We're going through negotiations." Dareus balked at a reported six-year offer worth more than $90 million, saying the offer showed the Bills "don't want me." It has only taken two days for him to soften his stance considerably, and he even admitted he would sign a franchise tender if it came to that. Buffalo has a lot of money invested in their defensive line, but Dareus is a talent they cannot let get away.

The Buffalo News reports the Bills have offered contract-year NT Marcell Dareus a six-year extension worth more than $90 million.

However, Dareus is seeking more, and apparently considers the numbers an insult. Dareus told reporter Vic Carucci the offer says "they don't want me," and that he expects 2015 to be his final season in Buffalo. Due $8.06 million in the final year of his rookie deal, Dareus is digging in for a game of hardball. He undoubtedly wants to cross the $100 million threshold, something that's realistic considering his recent play and a continually climbing salary cap.

Bills GM Doug Whaley is optimistic a deal will get done with contract-year NT Marcell Dareus.

"There are a lot of moving parts," Whaley said. "We've exchanged proposals. Something of this magnitude is going to take time, but we're confident both sides want to get this done." An All-Pro talent, Dareus is asking for top-three defensive tackle money. The Bills want to extend Dareus before Week 1.

The Buffalo News expects the Bills to extend contract-year DT Marcell Dareus before the start of the season.

The Bills were expected to have a deal in place with Dareus by training camp. Extending Dareus before Week 1 is now considered the more realistic deadline. Dareus is seeking top-three defensive tackle money.

Bills GM Doug Whaley said he's had preliminary talks with contract-year DT Marcell Dareus.

The Bills are working to extend Dareus before training camp. An All-Pro talent, Dareus is expected to command top-three defensive tackle money. Buffalo has a projected $143M committed to the 2016 cap and must get creative to fit Dareus.

The Bills want to extend DT Marcell Dareus prior to training camp.

Entering the final year of his rookie deal, Dareus is reportedly asking for at least Gerald McCoy money (7-year, $95.2M). Dareus’s one-game suspension has no impact on long-term talks.

NFL suspended Bills DT Marcell Dareus one game for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Dareus was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana in his native Alabama last May. The ban shouldn't come as a surprise to the Bills, who will be missing Dareus against the Colts. They'll get him back for Week 2 against the Patriots. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Dareus remains a strong candidate for an extension.
