The NFL isn't expected to suspend Dolphins C Mike Pouncey for his involvement in Bullygate, according to the Miami Herald.
NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said there's been "no change in [Pouncey's] active status," and he doesn't "anticipate having to address the issue again." All four of Pouncey, Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito, and John Jerry are/were expected to undergo a mental evaluation before returning to the field. It's unclear it those have already happened. Pouncey will miss the first month or so of the season with a torn labrum in his hip. Incognito is the only one out of work. Jul 14 - 6:32 PM

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk that "preliminary evidence indicates" Dolphins C Mike Pouncey and Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey were not involved in the alleged assault at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach.

The Pouncey twins and four bouncers are accused of an assault that took place Friday night and into Saturday morning. No arrests have been made. The alleged victim Ricky Vasquez posted messages on Twitter indicating the Pounceys' involvement. Police are investigating, but have not confirmed the Pounceys as suspects.

A man claims he was assaulted by Dolphins C Mike Pouncey and Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey at the twins' birthday party at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach Friday night.

The alleged victim Ricky Vasquez took to Twitter, claiming he was "jumped by 4 bouncers and the Pouncey Twins." Vasquez added he was attacked because of his sexual orientation, claiming the assailants used homophobic slurs and saying, "I feel like I just got gay bashed." The Miami Beach PD released a statement saying, "There was an incident that occurred at Cameo last night at 4:20 a.m., where an alleged assault took place. We have not confirmed it's the Pouncey brothers that are the subjects, but we are going to have detectives contacting the victims to investigate further." This is not the first time the brothers' birthday party has made the news. The two got into hot water at last year's event for wearing "Free Hernandez" hats in support of former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez. This incident is obviously more serious, and if founded, could lead to legal action as well as suspensions for each player.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk.com that Dolphins C Mike Pouncey's labrum tear in his hip is "significant" and occurred during Organized Team Activities.

Pouncey has high pain tolerance -- he played through kidney stones last year -- but a three-month timetable is "very optimistic," per PFT, and it's possible Pouncey will be out quite a bit longer than that. Because the injury occurred before training camp, Pouncey will be eligible to open camp on active/PUP, and open the season on reserve/PUP, which would cost him the first six games. The Dolphins' bye is in Week 4. It sounds like a best-case scenario would be Pouncey returning in Week 5.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dolphins C Mike Pouncey will be out "at least" three months after undergoing hip surgery on Monday.

Per Schefter, Pouncey tore his labrum "sometime during OTA sessions." It's a huge blow to Miami's perennially shaky offensive line, which now figures to turn to second-year UDFA Sam Brenner at pivot, with Dallas Thomas and Shelley Smith at the guard spots. Pouncey graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 13 center last season, although he earned negative marks as a run blocker. He was at his best in pass protection. Still, losing a rock-solid center is always a big blow to an offense. The Fins may have to explore the free agent center market, where Fernando Velasco, David Baas, and Dan Koppen are the top names available.

Dolphins C Mike Pouncey insists he has no regrets about his role in the team's "Bullygate" scandal.

"No, not at all," Pouncey said Tuesday. Pouncey's actions back up his words, as he's continued to keep up a reckless social-media presence this offseason. Pouncey said he does not expect to be suspended. Although he's under contract for two more seasons, Pouncey remains a candidate for an extension.
May 27 - 7:24 PM

Dolphins exercised C Mike Pouncey's fifth-year club option for 2015.

It's worth $7.438 million. The move comes even as Pouncey awaits word on a potential suspension for his role in the "Bullygate" scandal. The No. 15 overall pick of the 2011 draft, Pouncey has started 46-of-48 games since entering the league, and emerged as a top-flight center. He remains a candidate for a long-term extension.
Apr 29 - 4:16 PM

The Miami Herald reports Dolphins C Mike Pouncey is "still in limbo" about a potential suspension.

The league has moved excruciatingly slow with all things "Bullygate," though if Pouncey were to draw a ban, it's hard to envision it being more than a game. Commissioner Roger Goodell has already revealed that Pouncey will have to undergo a mental-health evaluation before returning to action.
Apr 24 - 3:43 PM

Mike Pouncey wants a contract extension even though the Dolphins will exercise his fifth-year option next month.

The Dolphins have Pouncey under contract for this season at $1.63 million and then the 2015 option at an undisclosed number. But he feels like he's outperformed his contract and the Pro Bowler certainly has a point. The Alex Mack situation isn't going to do the Dolphins any favors in negotiations as the Browns are set to match an offer sheet with an average annual salary of at least $9 million. It's a massive number for a center.
Apr 10 - 9:25 AM

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross gave embattled C Mike Pouncey a vote of confidence Tuesday, saying Pouncey is an "an outstanding young man."

Ross also called Pouncey an "excellent football player," and said he expects him to be a team leader in 2014. We'd seriously question Pouncey's leadership skills, but his place in the Dolphins' hierarchy is no longer in question. The team is expected to exercise Pouncey's fifth-year option for 2015.
Mar 25 - 7:19 PM

Commissioner Roger Goodell revealed Monday that Dolphins C Mike Pouncey will have to undergo and pass a mental health evaluation before he can return to the field.

We learned last week that free agent Richie Incognito would have to pass a mental health test before he'd be able to play again, but so will Pouncey, Giants RG John Jerry, and 49ers OT Jonathan Martin after their roles in the Dolphins' Bullygate fiasco. There's no reason to think any will fail the evaluations. Pouncey, Jerry, and Incognito may all also face league-imposed suspensions.
Mar 24 - 6:22 PM

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins "fully intend" to pick up C Mike Pouncey's fifth-year option.

Pouncey is technically entering the final year of his rookie contract, but Miami can gain a fifth year of team control by exercising the option. That's unlikely to be a popular move with Pouncey, who is surely eyeing a long-term extension. His negative depiction in the Ted Wells Report has eroded his leverage, however. It's worth noting that GM Dennis Hickey vouched for Pouncey in a Thursday radio interview.
Feb 27 - 9:08 PM

New Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey is standing behind embattled C Mike Pouncey.

"Pouncey is an excellent player," Hickey said in a Thursday radio interview. "I’ve had good conversations with him in the last month. I’m excited about the future." Pouncey came off very poorly in the Ted Wells Report, but the Dolphins aren't about to move on from one of the league's better centers. One consequence, however, is that Pouncey is probably less likely to get an extension heading into the final year of his rookie contract.
Feb 27 - 5:27 PM

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins do not plan to trade C Mike Pouncey.

Talent trumps trouble. Pouncey was one of the ring leaders in the Jonathan Martin harassment ordeal, per the Ted Wells Report, but might be the only Dolphins troublemaker to get a second chance in Miami. He may face a suspension from the league, but Pouncey isn't believed to be on the trade block.
Feb 17 - 8:59 PM

The Miami Herald reports that "many around the league believe" Dolphins C Mike Pouncey will draw a suspension in light of the Ted Wells Report.

Pouncey, Richie Incognito and John Jerry engaged "in a pattern of harassment" directed at Jonathan Martin, other teammates and Dolphins staff members. Jerry and Incognito are free agents and likely won't be re-signed. Pouncey is a difference-maker at center and is under contract through 2014. He's expected to earn a suspension at the start of next season. Miami's line is in shambles.
