Mike Pouncey (hip) returned to Dolphins practice on Tuesday.
It's Pouncey's first practice since he went down in OTAs. He'll likely be listed as "limited," but it's a huge step in the right direction. Pouncey is unlikely to suit up for Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but has been targeting a Week 4 return since August. If Pouncey isn't quite right next week, the Dolphins could elect to hold him out until after their Week 5 bye. Sep 16 - 2:14 PM

Dolphins declared C Mike Pouncey, LB Philip Wheeler, LB Jordan Tripp, DL Bruce Gaston, OT Jason Fox, OG Billy Turner and DE Terrence Fede inactive for Week 1 against the Patriots.

Miami enters Week 1 healthy at the skill positions. Recovering from hip surgery, Pouncey is targeting a Week 4 return.
Sep 7 - 11:51 AM

ESPN Dolphins reporter James Walker reports C Mike Pouncey (hip) will avoid the reserve/PUP list to start the season.

Pouncey would have been forced to miss the first six games of the season if the Dolphins placed him on the PUP list. Avoiding the list means he will be allowed to practice with the team, and he's hinted he's targeting Week 4. Samson Satele will fill in at center while Pouncey is out.
Aug 30 - 3:25 PM

The Dolphins are "strongly considering" not putting Mike Pouncey (hip) on the reserve/PUP list with the hope he can play in late September.

Pouncey is targeting Week 4 for his return. The Dolphins are "encouraged by his progress," but have yet to make a decision on his status. By not placing Pouncey on PUP, he would be allowed to practice with the team and not have to miss the first six games. The Dolphins would be taking a risk by using a roster spot on him. Pouncey is two months removed from hip surgery.
Aug 26 - 10:48 PM

Updating a previous item, Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip) remains on the active/PUP list.

We misinterpreted Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald's tweet earlier on Tuesday. Pouncey was simply in attendance at practice; he's still in the rehab phase of his recovery from hip surgery. He remains a strong candidate to begin the year on reserve/PUP, which would force Pouncey to miss the first six games.
Aug 26 - 11:50 AM

Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip surgery) said he's targeting Week 4 for his return.

The Dolphins have a bye in Week 5, so rushing back for Week 4 wouldn't make a lot of sense. Still, the vibe on Pouncey's rehab has been very positive and it sounds like he has a legit chance to avoid reserve/PUP -- something that would cost him the first six games. This remade Dolphins offensive line will get a big boost when their pivot man returns.
Aug 18 - 4:15 PM

Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (hip surgery) admits he could begin the regular season on the reserve/PUP list.

"We had a couple discussions about it," Pouncey said of the PUP, which would cost him six games. "I’m just letting them make the decision. I hope I’m not on PUP, but it’s not up to me. I want to play." Pouncey said there's "no question" he could be available sometime in the first six games, but declined to guess when. The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "privately" been encouraged by Pouncey's progress. Regardless, he's unlikely to see the field before October.
Aug 14 - 1:50 PM

A source tells the Miami Herald that C Mike Pouncey (hip surgery) is now expected to be out until late October.

Pouncey's labrum repair was always expected to cost him the first 3-4 weeks of the season, but now it sounds like he won't be back until Week 8 or so. He's starting camp on the active/PUP list, which puts the reserve/PUP list in play for the regular season. It's a major concern for an already shaky offensive line, as Nate Garner will likely have to fill in at the pivot.
Jul 23 - 12:17 PM

The NFL isn't expected to suspend Dolphins C Mike Pouncey for his involvement in Bullygate, according to the Miami Herald.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said there's been "no change in [Pouncey's] active status," and he doesn't "anticipate having to address the issue again." All four of Pouncey, Jonathan Martin, Richie Incognito, and John Jerry are/were expected to undergo a mental evaluation before returning to the field. It's unclear it those have already happened. Pouncey will miss the first month or so of the season with a torn labrum in his hip. Incognito is the only one out of work.

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk that "preliminary evidence indicates" Dolphins C Mike Pouncey and Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey were not involved in the alleged assault at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach.

The Pouncey twins and four bouncers are accused of an assault that took place Friday night and into Saturday morning. No arrests have been made. The alleged victim Ricky Vasquez posted messages on Twitter indicating the Pounceys' involvement. Police are investigating, but have not confirmed the Pounceys as suspects.
Jul 12 - 2:42 PM

A man claims he was assaulted by Dolphins C Mike Pouncey and Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey at the twins' birthday party at Cameo Nightclub in Miami Beach Friday night.

The alleged victim Ricky Vasquez took to Twitter, claiming he was "jumped by 4 bouncers and the Pouncey Twins." Vasquez added he was attacked because of his sexual orientation, claiming the assailants used homophobic slurs and saying, "I feel like I just got gay bashed." The Miami Beach PD released a statement saying, "There was an incident that occurred at Cameo last night at 4:20 a.m., where an alleged assault took place. We have not confirmed it's the Pouncey brothers that are the subjects, but we are going to have detectives contacting the victims to investigate further." This is not the first time the brothers' birthday party has made the news. The two got into hot water at last year's event for wearing "Free Hernandez" hats in support of former Patriots TE Aaron Hernandez. This incident is obviously more serious, and if founded, could lead to legal action as well as suspensions for each player.
Jul 12 - 11:16 AM

A source with knowledge of the situation tells Profootballtalk.com that Dolphins C Mike Pouncey's labrum tear in his hip is "significant" and occurred during Organized Team Activities.

Pouncey has high pain tolerance -- he played through kidney stones last year -- but a three-month timetable is "very optimistic," per PFT, and it's possible Pouncey will be out quite a bit longer than that. Because the injury occurred before training camp, Pouncey will be eligible to open camp on active/PUP, and open the season on reserve/PUP, which would cost him the first six games. The Dolphins' bye is in Week 4. It sounds like a best-case scenario would be Pouncey returning in Week 5.
Jun 23 - 5:51 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Dolphins C Mike Pouncey will be out "at least" three months after undergoing hip surgery on Monday.

Per Schefter, Pouncey tore his labrum "sometime during OTA sessions." It's a huge blow to Miami's perennially shaky offensive line, which now figures to turn to second-year UDFA Sam Brenner at pivot, with Dallas Thomas and Shelley Smith at the guard spots. Pouncey graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 13 center last season, although he earned negative marks as a run blocker. He was at his best in pass protection. Still, losing a rock-solid center is always a big blow to an offense. The Fins may have to explore the free agent center market, where Fernando Velasco, David Baas, and Dan Koppen are the top names available.
Jun 23 - 4:50 PM

Dolphins C Mike Pouncey insists he has no regrets about his role in the team's "Bullygate" scandal.

"No, not at all," Pouncey said Tuesday. Pouncey's actions back up his words, as he's continued to keep up a reckless social-media presence this offseason. Pouncey said he does not expect to be suspended. Although he's under contract for two more seasons, Pouncey remains a candidate for an extension.
May 27 - 7:24 PM

Dolphins exercised C Mike Pouncey's fifth-year club option for 2015.

It's worth $7.438 million. The move comes even as Pouncey awaits word on a potential suspension for his role in the "Bullygate" scandal. The No. 15 overall pick of the 2011 draft, Pouncey has started 46-of-48 games since entering the league, and emerged as a top-flight center. He remains a candidate for a long-term extension.
