NFL suspended free agent S Will Hill 10 games for violating the substance abuse policy.
The Ravens cut ties with Hill, replacing him with ex-Chargers S Eric Weddle. Hill has been suspended four times since entering the league in 2012. Despite coming off a strong season, he's going to struggle to find a team willing to give him another chance. Hill won't be eligible to return until Week 11. Mar 16 - 5:20 PM

The Baltimore Sun reports free agent Will Hill is facing a possible suspension.

It explains why Hill was released from the Ravens. Hill has a history of off-field incidents, getting suspended for both substance abuse and PEDs. His latest issue could put him at risk for an indefinite ban.

Ravens released SS Will Hill.

Hill started 14-of-16 games last season, but wasn't as much of a difference-maker as he'd been in years past with the Giants and Ravens. The move saves the Ravens $2.84 million against the cap and opens up the job for Eric Weddle, who will start next to Kendrick Lewis or Lardarius Webb. Hill is still just 26 years old, but has a history of off-field issues. He shouldn't have any trouble finding work as one of the top safeties available.

The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec speculates Ravens SS Will Hill could be a cap cut following the signing of FS Eric Weddle.

Lardarius Webb's $9.5 million cap hit would be the most obvious cut, but Baltimore has made it clear they see Webb as a starting safety. Hill was the Ravens' best safety last year, but it would be difficult to justify his nearly $4.6 million cap hit if he is riding the bench. That said, Webb should be asked to play in the slot in sub packages, and both Webb and Weddle profile more as free safeties. It is possible all three are on the field together for the majority of the snaps in 2016. If anyone is getting cut, mega-bust Matt Elam might be the best candidate.
Mar 15 - 9:06 AM

Ravens SS Will Hill returned a blocked field goal 64 yards for the game-winning touchdown in Baltimore's 33-27, Week 12 win over the Browns on Monday night.

With the score tied 27-27 with three seconds left on the clock, the Browns sent K Travis Coons onto the field to attempt a potentially game-winning 51-yard field goal. It appeared doomed from the start, as Coons hasn't made anything longer than 44 yards all year. The Ravens also jumped offsides early, but the Browns didn't snap the ball to catch them in time, and Coon's kick was then blocked by DE Brent Urban, who was playing in his first NFL game after two severe injuries to start his career. Hill scooped the ball up and took it up the sideline all the way to the end zone with the game clock at zeroes. The Browns definitely Browns'ed in comical fashion.

Ravens signed SS Will Hill to a one-year extension through 2016.

It's a sign the Ravens genuinely believe Hill has turned his life around. Hill went undrafted over character concerns in 2012, and proceeded to draw a suspension in each of his first three NFL campaigns. Hill has been popped for both substance abuse and PEDs. He is still only 25, however, and has proven to be one of the league's more effective safeties when on the field. Now the Ravens will keep their fingers crossed he stays there.

Will Hill is the "clear favorite" to start at strong safety, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Matt Elam is also in the mix though Hill has emerged as the clear frontrunner. Hill received PFF's 14th-highest safety grade last season but none of those snaps came at strong safety. Kendrick Lewis will take over at free safety after signing a three-year contract this offseason.

Will Hill is expected to shift to strong safety this season.

The Ravens signed Kendrick Lewis to be their free safety. That leaves Hill to do what he does best. "I just get to hit people," he said. "That's what I like to do." Hill will compete with Matt Elam for the starting job.

Ravens re-signed S Will Hill to a one-year, $1.542 million contract.

Hill was a restricted free agent. Hill has operated as one of the league's better safeties when on the field, but suspensions have too often kept him off of it. A former undrafted free agent, Hill was tendered at the original-round level, meaning the Ravens would have received no compensation had he signed elsewhere and they decided not to match. Baltimore's gamble that other teams wouldn't touch Hill's off-the-field problems paid off. Still only 25, Hill could be a candidate for a big payday in 2016 if he keeps his head on straight this year.

The Redskins are not expected pursue restricted free agent S Will Hill.

Washington has a need at safety after losing Ryan Clark and Brandon Meriweather. Hill would be an obvious upgrade, but is likely to require a multi-year deal to sign away from the Ravens. Baltimore only gave Hill an original pick tender, and won't receive any compensation if he signs elsewhere.

ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley believes RFA Will Hill is locked in as one of Baltimore's starting safeties.

If true, Baltimore is playing a dangerous game by only offering Hill an original pick tender. Hill has a long history of off-field problems, but in a depleted safety free agent market and draft, it is not unthinkable a team takes a shot on Hill's indisputable upside. Hill was suspended the first six games of last season, his third suspension since entering the league in 2012.

Ravens extended restricted free agent FS Will Hill an original pick tender.

25-year-old Hill is one of the best young safeties in the league. By giving him the lowest possible tender, the Ravens are gambling that Hill's lengthy history of off-field problems will keep potential suitors away. The original pick tender is worth just over $1.5 million. Hill is a good bet to stay put in Baltimore.

Ravens FS Will Hill has a warrant out for his arrest in New Jersey for failure to pay his child support.

It's not the worst crime in the world as long as Hill pays the $16,588 he owes, but any trouble is bad trouble for Hill, who has been battling off-field issues since entering the league. Hill needs to keep his nose clean. He's long on talent but has proven to be short on common sense. The Ravens are aware of the issue.
Wed, Jan 28, 2015 03:31:00 PM

Coach John Harbaugh says the Ravens are "challenging" FS Will Hill this offseason.

"Are you going to come back a better player than you were when you left here in January, and is that slate going to be clean?" That was Harbaugh's rhetorical question of a safety who has had a host of off-the-field issues. Suspended for the first six games of the season, Hill was a standout upon his return. Hill has consistently shined between his NFL bans. A restricted free agent, Hill could really cash in next offseason if he can keep his head on straight in 2015.
Thu, Jan 15, 2015 09:30:00 PM

Ravens activated suspended S Will Hill.

Hill served a six-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy. Hill has been suspended three times since entering the league in 2012, but has been a stand-out safety when on the field. He should quickly push starting FS Darian Stewart for playing time. DT Christo Bilukidi (ankle) was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move.
