Rams GM Les Snead said at the Combine he expects RT Joe Barksdale to test the free agent market.
Quietly one of the league's better young right tackles, Barksdale should find a solid market after recently turning 27. The Rams badly need offensive line help, so it's surprising they would potentially let a player like Barksdale get away. Players usually don't re-sign after they hit the market. Feb 18 - 3:40 PM

Rams contract-year RT Joe Barksdale reiterated his desire to re-sign with St. Louis.

Aside from maybe the Packers' Bryan Bulaga, Barksdale is scheduled to be the top free-agent right tackle. He doesn't have the injury concerns like Bulaga. A year after grading out as a top-eight right tackle at Pro Football Focus, Barksdale is the site's top-ranked run blocker at the position. But he's given up 24 hurries in pass protection. The Rams should cut LT Jake Long and C Scott Wells in the offseason and allocate some of that money to Barksdale.

Contract-year RT Joe Barksdale wants to re-sign with the Rams.

Barksdale has flown under the radar in St. Louis. The former third-round pick of the Raiders appeared in all 16 games last season, making 13 starts, and graded out as a top-eight right tackle at Pro Football Focus. He's a plus pass protector. Barksdale was a four-star high school recruit to LSU.

Joe Barksdale is expected to be the Rams' starting left tackle in Week 7 against the Packers.

That sound you hear is Clay Matthews licking his chops. Barksdale, a heavy-legged waist bender out of LSU, will take the place of injured LT Wayne Hunter (back). The fact that St. Louis' offense has been remotely functional at all this season is a credit to the coaching staff considering the sorry state of this offensive line. They have Barry Richardson at right tackle, lost C Scott Wells and LT Rodger Saffold, and start Rob Turner at left guard.

Rams claimed OT Joseph Barksdale off waivers from the Raiders.

OT Ty Nsekhe was waived in a corresponding move. The Giants were reportedly also interested in Barksdale, but the Rams had the higher claim. Barksdale was a third-round pick just last year, but had yet to be active this season. He appeared in all 16 games as a rookie, however, and should be in line for a decent amount of snaps along the Rams' banged up and ineffective line.

Raiders waived OT Joseph Barksdale.

New GM Reggie McKenzie continues to clean up the old regime's mess. Barksdale was a 2011 third-round pick that appeared in no games this year and ends his Raider career with zero starts. He'll attract attention on the open market thanks to his 39 college starts at LSU and 6'4/325 frame.

The Raiders are expected to sign a veteran right tackle as competition or insurance for third-rounder Joseph Barksdale.

If they don't succeed in re-signing Mario Henderson, Langston Walker, or Khalif Barnes, the Raiders will look outside the organization. A tackle signing "will happen," says beat writer Jerry McDonald.

CSN Bay Area's Paul Gutierrez believes third-rounder Joseph Barksdale has a "real shot" at winning the starting right tackle job this summer.

Langston Walker is reportedly considering retirement, Khalif Barnes is an unrestricted free agent, and four-year vet Mario Henderson could also end up hitting the open market. Walker was among the NFL's premier run-blocking tackles last season, so there could be a falloff if Barksdale takes over.

The Raiders will use No. 92 overall pick Joseph Barksdale on the right side of their line, either at guard or center.

Barksdale is a top-notch athlete with requisite tackle length. The knock on him has always been his lack of physicality, as Barksdale was considered to have all the tools at LSU but never played up to his ability. The Raiders' biggest sore spot is right tackle, so that position gives him his best shot to start.

Raiders traded up with the Patriots to select LSU OT Joseph Barksdale as the No. 92 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

The Raiders traded their 2012 second-rounder for New England's third- and fourth-round picks, giving the Pats double firsts and seconds again next year. Oakland is wrapping up its two-year overhaul of the O-Line, bringing in Barksdale at right tackle opposite Jared Veldheer while Bruce Campbell and Stefen Wisniewski man the interior. A 39-game starter at LSU, Barksdale raised his stock with an impressive performance at the East-West shrine game. At 6'5/336 with solid fundamentals and strength, Barksdale has the requisite tools to succeed at right tackle.

According to SI's Tony Pauline, LSU OT Joseph Barksdale has "improved his draft stock significantly" on the East-West Shrine practice field.

A 39-game starter in college, Barksdale left the Tigers with a reputation for being an underachiever but has reportedly excelled in pass protection in Orlando while showing terrific fundamentals and strength. He weighed in at 6'5/336 earlier in the week. Barksdale has all the tools to be a long-term starter in the NFL, but in game settings has often lacked ideal physicality.
