The Palm Beach Post expects Daniel Thomas to make Miami's 53-man roster.
"Even if (Knowshon) Moreno is ready to go for the season, I now expect Thomas to make it," tweeted beat writer Andrew Abramson. Moreno is dealing with a knee issue that could require surgery, so Miami can't afford to part with running back depth. Thomas is due only $816,321 in the final year of his deal. There's no significant financial incentive for the Dolphins to cut him. Jun 20 - 7:58 PM

The Palm Beach Post believes Daniel Thomas is on the roster bubble in Miami.

Tweeted beat writer Andrew Abramson, "I'd be surprised if he keeps a roster spot unless Dolphins like his experience for one more season." Experience would indeed be the only reason Miami kept Thomas, who's been painfully ineffective through three NFL seasons. He's currently working with the Dolphins' third-team offense, behind first-teamer Lamar Miller and backup Knowshon Moreno. Mike Gillislee and rookie Damien Williams are putting heat on Thomas' spot.

The Miami Herald expects fourth-year RB Daniel Thomas to "stick around another year."

We've been hoping rookie GM Dennis Hickey would finally admit the mistake of ex-GM Jeff Ireland, who traded up to draft Thomas in the 2011 second round, but the Fins aren't exactly deep at tailback. Thomas would have to get outplayed by Mike Gillislee and/or UDFA Damien Williams to outright lose his roster spot. Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller appear locked in as the top-two backs.

The Miami Herald doesn't expect Daniel Thomas to make the Dolphins' 53-man roster in 2014.

Thomas is entering the final year of his rookie deal. With the addition of Knowshon Moreno and presence of younger and arguably more talented backs Lamar Miller and Mike Gillislee, Thomas doesn't have a spot. The Dolphins are also expected to draft another back. Thomas doesn't do anything well as a runner and doesn't play special teams. His value to a team is minimal.
Apr 1 - 10:01 AM

Following the signing of Knowshon Moreno, Dolphins RBs Daniel Thomas and Mike Gillislee are likely competing for one roster spot.

We would peg Gillislee as the favorite, based on his higher ceiling and lower salary. Thomas has been a colossal disappointment since ex-GM Jeff Ireland traded up to draft him in the 2011 second round. Gillislee only saw six carries in 2013, but he at least still has the potential to develop into something useful. Thomas' days in Miami are likely coming to a close.

Daniel Thomas was held to two carries in Sunday's Week 17 loss to the Jets.

Thomas barely saw the field and was clearly limited by his ankle injury. He finishes his 2013 season with 109 carries for 406 yards (3.7 YPC) and six touchdowns. Thomas will likely remain in the lesser half of a committee with Lamar Miller in 2014.

Daniel Thomas (ankle) is active for Week 17 against the Jets.

Thomas was listed as questionable, but will continue to play through his ankle injury. Ryan Tannehill (knee) and Brian Hartline (knee) are also active, as expected. Inactive for Miami are QB Pat Devlin, RB Mike Gillislee, CB Will Davis, RG Danny Watkins, CB Jalil Brown, OL David Arkin, and DT A.J. Francis.

Daniel Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 17.

Thomas played through a questionable tag in last week's loss to Buffalo, gaining all of nine yards on ten touches. The Dolphins would be better off committing to Lamar Miller in a bigger role this week against the Jets, but have shown no indications that it's a likely approach throughout the season.

Daniel Thomas (ankle) returned to Dolphins practice Thursday, getting in a limited session.

Thomas is on track to suit up against the Jets after escaping Sunday's loss to the Bills without further injury. He'll be a dreadful option in daily leagues.

Daniel Thomas rushed nine times for six yards and caught one pass for three yards in Sunday's Week 16 loss at Buffalo.

Thomas actually played far ahead of Lamar Miller (3 touches), who appeared to get benched. But Thomas was pathetic as well, repeatedly blowing blitz pickups that nearly got Ryan Tannehill killed. Of course, Thomas was unimpressive as a runner again, further proving his Week 14 breakout was a mirage. If the Dolphins had any other real options beyond these two, they'd be looking at them.

Daniel Thomas (ankle) is active for Sunday's game at Buffalo.

Operating at less than 100 percent, Thomas will gut it out for a complementary role behind Lamar Miller. Neither one is a great option, especially in a game the Bills figure to be "up" for at the Ralph. Consider Miller a shaky flex and Thomas completely off the radar. The Dolphins inactives: RB Mike Gillislee, QB Pat Devlin, DB Chris Owens, CB Jalil Brown, G Danny Watkins, G David Arkin and DL A.J. Francis.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports the Dolphins expect Daniel Thomas (ankle, questionable) to play Sunday at Buffalo.

Thomas did very little in practice this week, and only figures to be available for a bit role behind Lamar Miller. Still, Thomas' presence at all limits Miller's flex appeal. Miller is a dice-roll fantasy option against the Bills.
Sun, Dec 22, 2013 11:13:00 AM

Daniel Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 16.

Thomas aggravated his ankle-ligament injury in last week's win over the Patriots. His status for Week 16 figures to come down to a game-time decision. If Thomas is declared inactive on Sunday, Lamar Miller would have some flex-play appeal, but we won't know Thomas' status until just before game time.
Fri, Dec 20, 2013 02:50:00 PM

Daniel Thomas (ankle) remained out of Dolphins practice on Thursday.

It's unclear how serious Thomas' aggravation of his high-ankle sprain is. He should be considered questionable for Week 16. What Thomas is able to do on Friday will be key. Thomas won't be a recommended FLEX option if he suits up against Buffalo.
Thu, Dec 19, 2013 06:19:00 PM

Daniel Thomas (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

Thomas aggravated his high-ankle sprain last week. It doesn't sound like it's too serious because Thomas practiced a bit on Tuesday. If Thomas plays this week against Buffalo, he'll be part of the committee with Lamar Miller.
