Although GM Jeff Ireland believes Daniel Thomas will be a "fine player," he wants the second-year back to show more power and durability in 2012.
"He's tough, strong, really learned to pass protect, really quick," said Ireland. "He's got to stay healthy and keep his feet in the ground when he's making contact." Thomas will enter next season behind Reggie Bush, who earned praise from Ireland for establishing himself as "a lot tougher" than he was as a part-time player in New Orleans. Jan 25 - 11:10 AM

Daniel Thomas rushed 12 times for 28 yards and added two catches for 12 yards in Sunday's game against the Jets.

Thomas failed to take advantage of his second start for Reggie Bush and finished with less than 30 yards in the final four games of the regular season. His role in the Dolphins offense remains to be seen as he has struggled with both his health and effectiveness. In his rookie campaign, he finished without a rushing touchdown and just 565 rushing yards over 12 games.

Daniel Thomas believes his struggles this season were the result of inexperience.

For the first time since Reggie Bush’s emergence, Thomas will be back in a featured role. "I have a lot more game experience, so I feel good now," Thomas said. "I just have to finish strong." The Jets allow an average of 113 rushing yards per game and Thomas projects to see the majority of work for the Dolphins on Sunday, with Lex Hilliard not expected to factor into the offense. Thomas is Rotoworld's 25th ranked running back for Week 17.
Jan 1 - 10:24 AM

Daniel Thomas is not listed on the Dolphins' Week 17 injury report.

Thomas was unable to finish out last week's loss to the Patriots, not even coming back in after Reggie Bush sustained a late knee injury. It appears that was just a precaution. Thomas will be in for a very substantial workload this week if Bush sits out against the Jets.

Daniel Thomas believes the knee injury he sustained in the Week 16 loss to the Patriots is not serious.

Thomas was unable to return to the game after picking up just three yards on two carries. Reggie Bush also sustained a leg injury late in the game that isn't thought to be serious either. Their availability for the season finale is unknown.

Daniel Thomas left Sunday's Week 16 game against the Patriots in the second quarter with a knee injury.

Thomas did not return. He had just two carries for three yards before leaving. Reggie Bush functioned as a highly productive every-down back once again, although he did get stuffed on a goal-line chance.

Daniel Thomas rushed 11 times for 42 yards in the Dolphins' Week 15 loss to the Bills.

Thomas was the clear backup to feature back Reggie Bush, who racked up 25 carries. But Thomas was used as the goal-line/short-yardage back once again, failing to convert from inside the 3-yard line in the first half. Still, the rookie can't be trusted with Bush playing so well. He won't be an option in Week 16, even against the Patriots' leaky defense.

Daniel Thomas was limited to four yards on seven carries in Week 14 against the Eagles.

He added two catches for nine yards. Thomas continues to backup Reggie Bush and is rarely featured in Miami’s offense. His value is entirely dependent on him being effective in red zone and short-yardage situations.

Daniel Thomas admitted that he "didn't know what the hell I was doing" in the preseason.

Thomas' rookie training camp back in August was an unmitigated disaster, but Dynasty owners can forget about that now. By running with toughness and power in the regular season, he's put that tentative label behind him. "I didn't talk to anyone," he said. "The whole preseason was tough. Everybody was on me, saying I wasn't hitting the hole hard - which I wasn't." The rookie is locked in as Reggie Bush's complement going forward.

Daniel Thomas rushed the ball 13 times for 73 yards against the Raiders on Sunday.

The Dolphins dominated the Raiders in every aspect of the game, including a 2-to-1 advantage in time of possession. This allowed Thomas to double his carries over the previous week, but we saw nothing to suggest that he has increased his role going forward. Reggie Bush ran just as effectively today with 22 carries for 100 yards.

Daniel Thomas rushed six times for 25 yards and caught a seven-yard pass in the Dolphins' Week 12 loss to Dallas.

The Fins appeared to be trying to get Thomas involved earlier this week by giving him several carries on their second possession. He busted an early 11-yard gain up the gut, but ultimately has struggled to maintain an effective per-tote average and offensive role. He's about an RB4 in fantasy leagues.

Daniel Thomas rushed 15 times for 50 yards in Sunday's blowout win over the Bills.

Thomas' usage today was similar to how it's been over the last few weeks. He comes off the bench for a few carries in the first half, but Reggie Bush is the clear primary and goal-line back. Then Thomas' workload picks up as the game moves along. Thomas hasn't topped 53 yards or scored a touchdown since Week 3, leaving him as a weak fantasy play against the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Daniel Thomas is averaging just 2.5 yards per carry over his last four games.

Thomas has lost the feature back and red-zone role to Reggie Bush. However, he's still a hold in fantasy formats. We're not sold that Bush can sustain production or health in his current role and Thomas just got his hamstrings back to 100 percent last week.

Daniel Thomas rushed 17 times for 42 yards in Sunday's win over the Redskins.

Don't be fooled by Thomas' heavy workload. Although his hamstring looks very healthy, he's playing way behind Reggie Bush right now. Most of Thomas' carries came as the Dolphins took the air out of the ball in the second half thanks to a big lead. More importantly, Bush is acting as the exclusive red-zone back. Thomas won't be a recommended play against the Bills next week.

Daniel Thomas is not on the Dolphins' Week 10 injury report.

He's practicing fully for the first time this season. Despite looking slower than usual in last week's win over Kansas City, Thomas did not aggravate his previously lingering hamstring injury. He still won't be a fantasy option until we see Thomas' role grow in a game setting. He got seven Week 10 touches, while starter Reggie Bush touched the football 16 times.
