Date:

Daniel Thomas (knee) missed Wednesday and Thursday's practices.

Thomas is looking shaky for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Damien Williams will back up Lamar Miller if Thomas can't go.
Dec 18 - 3:53 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed for five yards on one carry and caught a three-yard pass in the Dolphins' Week 13 win over the Jets.

It was Thomas' lowest touch total of the season. He's well off the fantasy radar.
Dec 1 - 11:56 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed three times for 19 yards and a touchdown in Miami's Week 12 loss to the Broncos.

Thomas vultured Lamar Miller for a three-yard score on Miami's opening possession, but got the rock just one time thereafter. Despite today's score, there's zero reason for Thomas to be owned in 12-14 team leagues.
Nov 23 - 8:27 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed five times for 23 yards in Miami's Week 11 win over the Bills.

Thomas was the only Dolphins back to carry the ball besides Lamar Miller (shoulder), who looked much healthier than he did in Week 10. With the Dolphins now having 10 days to rest up for next Sunday's showdown with the Broncos, Thomas is once again a distant second to Miller on the depth chart. He's not a viable RB4.
Nov 14 - 12:12 AM

Daniel Thomas rushed five times for 14 yards in the Dolphins' Week 10 loss to the Lions, also losing a fumble.

Getting increased run with Lamar Miller (shoulder) at well less than 100 percent, Fumblin' Dan lost a soft fumble, letting it get poked out from behind. Just one of Thomas' five touches came after his third-quarter cough up. In danger of falling behind Damien Williams on the depth chart, Thomas won't be a viable, touchdown-dependent, RB3 for Thursday's game against the Bills.
Nov 9 - 6:17 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed nine times for eight yards in the Dolphins' Week 9 win over the Chargers.

Thomas caught two passes for 14 yards. He handled one first-half series himself before seeing extra work in the fourth quarter when Lamar Miller (shoulder) exited the game. If Miller can't play Week 10 against the Lions, Thomas and Damien Williams will carry the load, with Thomas being the favorite for carries.
Nov 2 - 4:34 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed for 25 yards on seven carries and caught three passes for 25 yards in the Dolphins' Week 7 win over the Bears.

Thomas operated as Lamar Miller's clear No. 2. He got a couple series to himself, at one point touching the ball on 5-of-7 plays on a second-quarter drive, but that was mostly it. With Knowshon Moreno (knee) done for the season, we'd expect Thomas to be Miller's backup for the duration of the season.
Oct 20 - 12:17 AM

Daniel Thomas rushed five times for 35 yards in Miami's Week 4 win over the Raiders, adding a 25-yard reception.

Thomas and Damien Williams both received six touches behind starter Lamar Miller, though Thomas was clearly ahead of Williams on the depth chart. Thomas' roster spot could be in danger if Knowshon Moreno is ready to return following the Dolphins' Week 5 bye, but he's run better than Williams. It's possible he's earned a second chance in Miami.
Sep 28 - 6:27 PM

Daniel Thomas rushed twice for 15 yards and caught 1-of-2 targets for 21 yards in the Dolphins' Week 3 loss to Kansas City.

Lamar Miller handled 19 touches against the Chiefs and is the Dolphins' clear-lead back with Knowshon Moreno out 4-8 weeks. Thomas did get more playing time than Damien Williams on Sunday, but offers little or no fantasy appeal.
Sep 21 - 8:39 PM

Dolphins re-signed RB Daniel Thomas.

The Dolphins lost Knowshon Moreno (elbow) for at least four weeks and Lamar Miller (ankle) is day to day. So they call on Thomas, who was just released at final cuts after losing a camp battle to UDFA Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa. He'll slide in as pass-down depth behind finesse back Miller, who is tentatively expected to heal up and start against the Chiefs in Week 3.
Sep 15 - 10:48 AM

Free agent RB Daniel Thomas worked out for the Patriots on Monday.

The Pats are likely just taking a look-see for their emergency list. It's Thomas' first-known visit/workout since he was waived by the Dolphins at final cuts. Thomas is a former second-rounder who owns a mediocre career 3.6 YPC average.
Sep 8 - 6:06 PM

Dolphins waived RB Daniel Thomas and RB/KR Marcus Thigpen.

The Fins finally admit their mistake on Thomas, whom ex-GM Jeff Ireland traded up to select in the second round of the 2011 draft. Thomas almost single-handedly held Miami's running game hostage for the past three seasons. The team will now move forward with Lamar Miller, Knowshon Moreno, and UDFA Damien Williams, although we wouldn't rule out the Dolphins putting in a waiver claim on a tailback toward the end of final cuts.
Aug 30 - 11:28 AM

ESPN Dolphins reporter James Walker doesn't expected Daniel Thomas to make the 53-man roster.

Thomas made his preseason debut Thursday, rushing 13 times for 38 yards (2.9 YPC) and one touchdown. He simply hasn't done enough this summer to earn a roster spot. Walker expects the Dolphins to keep just three running backs, Lamar Miller, Knowshon Moreno, and UDFA Damien Williams.
Aug 29 - 10:42 AM

Daniel Thomas (hamstring) will play in the Dolphins' preseason finale.

He better. Thomas is on the roster bubble. He's missed most of camp and the first three preseason games with a balky hamstring. Thomas is competing with UDFAs Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa for the No. 3 job. No longer on scholarship under ex-GM Jeff Ireland, Thomas needs to turn heads Thursday.
