Three charges have been added to free agent Titus Young's Orange County Superior Court count, bringing the total to 11.
The new counts were undisclosed, but are related to Young's alleged May 11 burglary of a southern California home. His bail was upped from $25,000 to $50,000, as the judge deemed Young "a danger to the community." Young appeared in court Friday morning behind a protective cage, dressed in inmate orange. The judge asked him three questions and he didn't reply to any of them. May 24 - 4:14 PM

In addition to the eight pending charges he is facing, free agent Titus Young has been accused of domestic violence by the mother of his 9-month-old son.

The woman took a temporary restraining order and is seeking a permanent one. "He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife,'" the woman alleged in a court filing. She also revealed that Young has been "clinically diagnosed with a mental disorder." Things are going to get worse before they get better for the troubled former second-round pick.

Free agent Titus Young has been medically cleared to appear in court, and has been charged with felony theft stemming from a May 4 incident at a convenience store in addition to his other charges.

It means Young has been charged with an incomprehensible eight crimes — including three felonies — in the past 10 days. It's a disturbing unraveling for a player who was always billed as a head-case but had previously avoided run-ins with the law during his NFL career. His only previous arrest was for minor in possession of alcohol during his college days. Clearly dealing with serious brain/mental issues, Young will hopefully get the help he needs.

Free agent Titus Young's father says his son has a brain disorder and needs help.

Richard Young took Titus out for coffee on Friday, hours before Titus' latest arrest. Titus then drove off in his car without saying goodbye. "We knew that something had happened to him or he was locked up again," Richard said. "His mind is not capable enough to go out and deal with society because of this." Titus supposedly suffers from a disorder caused by his brain being compressed against the front of his skull, and he hasn't been taking his medication. Doctors told Richard that treatment could take six months or less. Maybe the sun will finally shine on Titus, and he can get the help he so badly needs.
May 13 - 8:50 PM

Free agent Titus Young was arrested and charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest Friday night in San Clemente, CA.

That's three arrests in less than a week for Young, who appears to be trying to keep pace with ex-Oregon CB Cliff Harris. Young is still stewing in jail after the latest arrest. He reportedly broke into a home, and then tried fighting the officers. Young was arrested twice in a 15-hour period last Sunday for drunk driving and trying to steal his impounded car from a towing company's lot. He won't be seeing an NFL field anytime soon.
May 12 - 1:46 PM

Titus Young's high school coach said he wishes the former Lion would "get some help."

E.C. Robinson said he hasn't spoken to Young since late March and hoped he was in an institute. "He was talking some things that just didn't make sense," Robinson said of the last time the two conversed. "I don't know, I just wish he'd get some help. I know football is probably out of the question, right now it's trying to get his life together." Young was arrested twice in a 15-hour span Sunday.
May 8 - 8:43 AM

Free agent WR Titus Young was arrested twice in 15 hours last Sunday.

The troubled ex-Lion was busted for drunk driving at 12:01 Sunday morning in Moreno Valley, Cal. He was then arrested again 15 hours later after he was caught trying to steal his impounded Mustang from a tow-company lot. It's the exact kind of confounding, short-sighted behavior that earned Young his walking papers from the Lions less than two years after he was a second-round pick. Young needs to get serious help before his life spirals completely out of control.
May 7 - 8:59 PM

Lions GM Martin Mayhew says he's reached out to help troubled free agent Titus Young, but that the door on a return to Detroit "is shut."

Mayhew has been in contact with Young "and his family." Mayhew's comments suggest Young is dealing with legitimate mental problems, which appeared to be the case during his bizarre on- and off-the-field meltdown last season. Young surely isn't pleased about being on the open market, but some time away from the game may be necessary to save his career.
Feb 22 - 10:59 AM

Lions coach Jim Schwartz says he wasn't consulted by friend and mentor Jeff Fisher before the Rams waived former Lion Titus Young.

It means the two men independently decided they couldn't have Young on their football teams. That's very bad news for Young's future, as Schwartz and Fisher are two of the league's more willing coaches to take on players with character concerns. Young's phone may not ring for a while.
Feb 22 - 9:55 AM

Titus Young passed through waivers unclaimed, and is now an unrestricted free agent.

Hopefully he's not expecting any calls, because it could be a while before his phone rings. Young's talent should eventually earn him a third chance, but he'll have to go to great lengths to rehab a reputation he's torn to shreds. It might be a long time before we hear Young's name again. That is, provided none of his former coaches decide to take public shots at him.
Feb 19 - 5:56 PM

Rams coach Jeff Fisher did not get into specifics when discussing why the team waived WR Titus Young on Friday.

"We spent probably four or five days with him," said Fisher. "At the end of the interview process, we decided it was best for us to go another direction. Perhaps Titus is better suited for another organization." Fisher did say the Rams put Young through an "extended interview process." Unsurprisingly, Young's interviews were unimpressive. He's likely to clear waivers now.
Feb 15 - 3:15 PM

Rams waived WR Titus Young.

The topic is expected to be addressed at a Jeff Fisher news conference Friday to introduce new defensive coordinator Tim Walton. Young's history of genuinely idiotic and self-destructive behavior makes his nine-day "stint" in St. Louis a non-surprise. Young is just 23 years old and brimming with talent, but it's beginning to look less and less likely that he'll be playing NFL snaps anytime soon without some sort of a significant wakeup call.
Feb 15 - 2:14 PM

The Rams have declined comment on rumors Titus Young will be released on Friday.

Detroit-based writer Rob Parker reported Friday morning Young will be waived on Friday, though both the Rams and Young's agent have declined comment. The fact that neither side opted to shoot down the report strongly suggests Young's time in St. Louis will last all of 10 days. If that's indeed the case, it's an extremely bad sign for the troubled receiver's NFL future.
Feb 15 - 11:29 AM

Lions GM Martin Mayhew says he didn't try to trade Titus Young before waiving him because he had "no trade value."

Mayhew's claim is hardly surprising, and backed up by the fact that the Rams were the only team to place a waiver claim on Young. Mayhew says he doesn't have any regrets about selecting Young in the 2011 second round despite well-documented character issues in college. "We made a big investment in him, didn't work out, move on." Rams coach Jeff Fisher has a history of getting the most out of malcontents, but Young is going to be his biggest challenge since Pacman Jones.
Feb 7 - 1:09 PM

The Rams were the only team that put in a waiver claim on Titus Young.

Perhaps this will humble the man that thinks he's better than Calvin Johnson. The Rams inherit Young's relatively meager $555,000 2013 salary and $185K roster bonus, making it a low-risk, high-reward move in terms of financials. It also gives them talented depth with Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson due for free agency in March. However, the lack of immediate interest around the NFL shows league-wide concern that Young will be a cancer in the locker room.
