Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (Achilles) expects to play against the Bears in Week 6.
Smith returned to practice on Friday after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday. He's dealing with Achilles tendinitis but appears to be on the right side of questionable for Sunday's game. Through five weeks, Smith holds PFF's No. 23 grade out of 109 qualifiers at cornerbacks. Oct 13 - 1:08 PM

Ravens restructured CB Jimmy Smith's contract.

$8.5 million of his base salary this season was converted into a signing bonus, creating $5.15 million in cap space. Short on available funds, the Ravens could use the extra space as they attempt to shore up the offensive line.

Ravens placed CB Jimmy Smith on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain, ending his season.

He's out for Week 17 against the Bengals and hasn't played since going down in Week 14. Smith should be fine for a normal offseason. He has three years left on his contract. WR Keenan Reynolds was called up from the taxi squad.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed top CB Jimmy Smith is dealing with a high ankle sprain.

It's why he hasn't played in weeks and won't play in Week 17 against the Bengals. Smith battled ankle, back, and concussion injuries over the course of the season. The Ravens' pass defense got flamed whenever he wasn't on the field.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 16 against the Steelers.

The Ravens are going to have a hard time slowing down Antonio Brown without their top corner. They'll turn to Shareece Wright across from rookie Tavon Young, with Jerraud Powers in the slot. It's a pass-funnel situation for Ben Roethlisberger and a potential Week 16 eruption game for A.B. Smith was in a walking boot on Friday and is dealing with a severe high ankle sprain.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith was seen wearing a protective boot on his sprained ankle.

He suffered the injury two weeks ago in a Monday night game against New England. Smith didn't practice this week and will almost certainly miss Sunday's game at Pittsburgh. Without him, the Ravens' already-thin secondary could have a hard time containing Antonio Brown.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) remained sidelined at Thursday's practice.

Beat writer Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun said "that should tell you all you need to know about his status for Sunday." Smith's absence would be a big boost to Antonio Brown, who caught seven balls for 85 yards and a touchdown when he faced the Ravens earlier this year.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.

The Ravens did not really feel the effects of Smith's absence against an Eagles offense which lacks talent on the outside, but he would be a big loss this week against the Steelers. Antonio Brown is a high-end WR1 every week, but his matchup will improve dramatically if Smith is not able to play.

Ravens declared CB Jimmy Smith, OL Ryan Jensen, TE Crockett Gillmore, RB Buck Allen, LB Lamar Louis, G Alex Lewis, and OLB ZaDarius Smith inactive for Week 15 against the Eagles.

No surprises in this group. Smith's loss would be more likely to be felt if the Eagles had perimeter receivers capable of exploiting his absence.

Jimmy Smith (ankle) is out for Week 15 against the Eagles.

He went down early in Monday night's loss to New England. Smith didn't practice this week and was always a long shot to suit up against Philadelphia. His absence definitely makes the Ravens' secondary weaker, though the Eagles don't have the downfield weapons to really exploit it.

Jimmy Smith (ankle) remained sidelined at Friday's practice.

Smith gut hurt early in the Monday night loss to the Patriots, and he's missed practice all week. He's not going to play against the Eagles, though they probably don't need him as bad in this one against a bad receiver group.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) did not practice Thursday.

After also missing Wednesday's session, it looks highly unlikely Smith is able to play this week. It is an upgrade for the Eagles' passing game, but perimeter receivers do not play a big role in the offense.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (ankle) didn't practice on Wednesday.

Smith left Monday night's game against New England and did not return. The Ravens really felt his absence, particularly late in the game when Chris Hogan broke loose for a 79-yard touchdown that sealed the win for New England. It would be an upgrade to Philadelphia's receiving corps if he sits this week, though the Eagles' only productive receiver (Jordan Matthews) does most of his work out of the slot.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith exited Week 14 against the Patriots with an ankle injury.

Smith's right knee bent awkwardly as he tackled WR Malcolm Mitchell ahead of the goal line in the first quarter. It looked like a high-ankle sprain or tibia injury, and Smith appeared to be in serious pain as he slammed the turf multiple times. He was eventually carted to the locker room. Smith is the one cornerback the Ravens can't afford to lose as they push for the playoffs.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh confirmed Jimmy Smith (questionable, back) should return for Week 13 against the Dolphins.

Smith missed the last two weeks with a back injury but practiced fully and should be all set for Sunday's matchup against Miami. He's been Baltimore's best cover corner this year. It's a big boost to the Ravens' secondary.
