Ravens RCB Jimmy Smith is "ahead of schedule" in his recovery from last season's Lisfranc injury.
Smith underwent surgery in November. He's been participating in "parts of OTAs," and appears fully on track for training camp. The Ravens showed their faith in Smith's health by signing him to a four-year, $48 million extension in April. May 28 - 2:47 PM

Ravens signed RCB Jimmy Smith to a four-year, $48 million extension.

According to Profootballtalk, the deal includes $21 million guaranteed. Smith is now signed through 2019. Smith was performing as one of the league's best corners last season before suffering a Lisfranc injury in Week 8. Going on 27, Smith has steadily improved over the course of his four-year career, though he has only five lifetime picks. Locking him up now is a bet that he will continue to improve. It's not an overpay. The Ravens were caught woefully short at corner last season, something they don't want to repeat going forward.

Owner Steve Bisciotti said the Ravens want to extend RCB Jimmy Smith.

Smith is making $6.89 million in the final year of his rookie deal. He graded out as a top-20 corner by Pro Football Focus last season before missing the final eight games to Lisfranc surgery. Contract-year RG Marshal Yanda and Justin Tucker are also candidates for extensions.

Disorderly conduct charges against Ravens RCB Jimmy Smith have been dismissed.

Smith was arrested on July 12 for refusing to leave the bathroom of a Maryland sports bar. He was helping a woman believed to have overdosed on cocaine. Smith's main concern remains his recovery from Lisfranc surgery.
Feb 2 - 3:33 PM

Ravens coach John Harbaugh expects RCB Jimmy Smith (Lisfranc surgery) to resume running in one month, and to be a full participant in the team's offseason program.

Smith is already over two months removed from going under the knife, and has avoided setbacks. Lisfranc injuries are tricky, of course. Smooth sailing shouldn't be assumed, but Smith's rehab is off on the right foot. One of the best corners in the league before going down, Smith was sorely missed as the Ravens battled for a playoff spot. Going on 27, Smith is headed into the final year of his rookie contract.

Ravens RCB Jimmy Smith's season-ending foot injury was of the "Lisfranc" variety.

Smith recently underwent surgery. It doesn't affect Smith's 2014 status as he's already on injured reserve, but it means he has a tough six months of rehab ahead of him. Lisfranc injuries are among the trickier ailments a football player can suffer. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, Smith was playing at a high level before going down.

Ravens placed CB Jimmy Smith (foot) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Smith injured his left foot in Week 8, and underwent surgery on Thursday. It is unclear if he is dealing with a Lisfranc injury. The Ravens are in serious trouble in the secondary. Baltimore signed CB Rashaan Melvin off the Dolphins' practice squad in a corresponding move.

Ravens RCB Jimmy Smith has undergone season-ending foot surgery.

He'll be placed on injured reserve. Smith injured his left foot in Week 8. He went under the knife on Thursday. It's unclear if he's dealing with a Lisfranc injury. "The plan for Jimmy was to do more testing once swelling subsided," coach John Harbaugh said. "With this exam, doctors decided he needed surgery." It's a crushing blow for the Ravens, who lack any sort of a suitable fill-in for a player who had been one of the league's best corners this season. For now, they appear set to go with retread Danny Gorrer opposite a struggling Lardarius Webb. It will be a unit that can be thrown on. Now 26, Smith is heading into the final year of his rookie contract.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (foot) has yet to resume practicing.

Smith's presence has been sorely missed, but he appears poised to remain sidelined through at least the Ravens' Week 11 bye.

Sources tell the Baltimore Sun that CB Jimmy Smith (foot) might be out until Week 12 or 13.

Smith has a mid-foot sprain, an injury that is often pesky to overcome. It takes a bit of the red flags off this Ravens defense from a matchup perspective, as Smith had emerged as one of the game's better shadow corners. Look for Dominique Franks, who gave up a key 53-yard reception to Mohamed Sanu last week, to start opposite Ladarius Webb.

The Ravens will be without top CB Jimmy Smith (foot) for "a few weeks."

One of the top perimeter cornerbacks in football, Smith suffered what is believed to be a mild Lisfranc sprain in Sunday's loss to Cincinnati. It's poor timing as the Ravens face red-hot Ben Roethlisberger in their next game.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith is headed for a Monday MRI on his left foot.

Smith was carted off the field in the first half of Sunday's loss at Cincy and did not return. Backup Dominique Franks predictably had trouble containing Mohamed Sanu. Smith has been one of the league's best cover corners all season, consistently washing out opposing wideouts. His absence would be a major concern for the Ravens defense.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith was carted off the field with a foot injury in the first quarter of Sunday's Week 8 game.

Smith is considered unlikely to return due to a left foot sprain.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith has been assigned an Oct. 7 court date for his misdemeanor disorderly conduct case.

Smith was arrested on July 12 for refusing to leave the bathroom of The Green Turtle in Towson. Smith claimed he was trying to help a woman who had allegedly overdosed on cocaine. The disorderly conduct charge carries a maximum sentence of 60 days in jail. Smith is unlikely to face any league discipline.

Ravens CB Jimmy Smith (chest) confirmed he expects to play in Week 1.

Smith was held out of Baltimore's final two preseason games, but returned to practice Saturday. He should be cleared for full team drills next week. The Ravens also expect to have Lardarius Webb (back) and Asa Jackson (ankle) available for the regular-season opener.
