Giants placed RB Da'Rel Scott (knee) on season-ending injured reserve.
Scott underwent a right knee debridement on Wednesday. In layman's terms, it was essentially a clean-up procedure to remove loose debris and tissue. The second-year back out of Maryland rushed for nine yards on six carries in 2012. The Giants needed the roster spot for Chris Canty's activation off PUP. Sat, Oct 20, 2012 04:20:00 PM

Giants RB Da'Rel Scott underwent a right knee debridement.

It's essentially a clean-out procedure of the meniscus. Scott has appeared in four games this year, but only recorded an offensive touch in one of those outings.

Rookie Giants RB Da'Rel Scott suffered a hyperextended knee in New York's Week 17 win over the Cowboys, but said he was fine afterward.

Scott didn't return after going down late in the first half, but sounds like he'll be good to go for New York's Wild Card tilt with the Falcons. Limited to 29 total yards on seven touches in 11 games, the seventh-round pick is far from assured of a 2012 roster spot.

Giants RB Da'Rel Scott rushed twice for 11 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, adding one catch for nine yards.

Scott was pressed into action after D.J. Ware suffered a concussion on the final play of the first half. Ahmad Bradshaw is tentatively expected to return in Week 12, but Scott is worth keeping an eye on if both Bradshaw and Ware end up sitting out against the Saints.

Giants running backs coach Jerald Ingram said he envisions rookie Da'Rel Scott as the team's eventual third-down back.

Scott has world-class speed and is a good receiver out of the backfield, but the Giants are wary of his ability to pick up the blitz. The seventh-round pick was also extremely injury prone at Maryland. Scott is more of a project than fantasy prospect at this point.

Giants seventh-round RB Da'Rel Scott tallied 114 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries against the Patriots in the preseason finale.

The fastest back at this year's Combine broke off a 65-yard TD one week after taking a carry 97 yards to the house. He entered the game in a competition with Andre Brown, who boasted a strong camp, for the final running back spot. The Giants will have to keep Scott because there's no way he makes it through waivers after exploding for 183 yards and two TDs on 14 preseason carries (13.1 YPC).

Giants agreed to terms with seventh-round RB Da'Rel Scott on a four-year contract.

Scott had high yards-per-carry averages at Maryland and ran a 4.34 at the Combine, but was injury prone. Scouts deemed him to be more of a track athlete than NFL-caliber runner. He'll have his work cut out to make the final 53.

Giants GM Jerry Reese compares seventh-round RB Da'Rel Scott to a young Willie Parker.

"We took a flyer on the guy because he's big and fast," said Reese. "This late in the draft, you look for redeeming qualities. We're hoping we can catch lightning in the bottle with this guy." If Ahmad Bradshaw is re-signed Scott will likely head to the practice squad as a rookie.

Giants selected Maryland RB Da'Rel Scott with the No. 221 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Scott ran the fastest forty time among running backs at the Combine (4.34), but he was incredibly injury prone at Maryland and couldn't beat out Dave Meggett's son for a starting job last year. The Giants are taking a seventh-round roll of the dice on Scott, but the odds are heavily against him panning out. He's much more track athlete than running back. It's probably a wasted pick.

One NFL exec tells the Miami Herald to keep an eye out for Maryland RB Da'Rel Scott as a player who could rise over the next few weeks.

Scott was originally considered a late-round pick or possible undrafted free agent before turning in a 4.34 while showing impressive quickness at the Combine. A potential committee back, Scott could sneak into the second day by the time the draft rolls around.

The National Football Post's Wes Bunting hears Maryland RB Da'Rel Scott is on a "sky rocket" rise after posting a 4.34 forty at the Combine.

Bunting indicated that Scott is "even getting his name mentioned as a late first-round pick," which we find hard to believe. Bunting has Scott rated as a later-round pick, pointing out that he "wasn't even that dynamic at Maryland." He profiles as a committee back in the pros.

Maryland RB Da'Rel Scott ran a 4.34 forty at Sunday's NFL Combine, topping all running backs.

Scott continues the recent history of Terps burning up the track at Indy. Merely a late-round prospect, Scott was Maryland's second-leading rusher (708 yards) while notching MVP honors in the Military Bowl after exploding for 200 yards on 13 carries.
