Cecil Shorts managed three catches for 12 yards in the Jaguars' Week 7 win over the Browns.
Shorts spent much of this game in Joe Haden's coverage, managing to secure just three of his nine targets. He did lead Jacksonville in targets, but was inefficient and didn't benefit from an up-and-down performance out of rookie QB Blake Bortles. Shorts has been a short-pass receiver in the Jags' 2014 offense, failing to make plays downfield. He'll be a borderline WR3 when Jacksonville takes on the underrated Miami defense in Week 8. Cecil Shorts met with a rapid-recovery specialist in Minnesota ahead of Week 6 to cure his balky hamstring.

Shorts has battled three separate hamstring injuries since the start of training camp, forcing him to miss three of the Jaguars' first six games. He flew to Minnesota last week to meet with Josh Sandell to receive five-hour treatments Monday and Tuesday before Wednesday's practice. This week, Shorts wasn't even on the injury report. He's as healthy as he's been in months, and is firmly on the WR3 radar as the target-dominator in Jacksonville's passing game.
Oct 19 - 8:11 AM

Cecil Shorts is not listed on the Week 7 injury report.

Shorts made it through Sunday's loss without any issues. He's practicing in full this week and will be on the WR3 radar against the Browns.
Oct 15 - 5:35 PM

Cecil Shorts caught a team-high 10-of-16 targets for 103 yards in the Jaguars' Week 6 loss to Tennessee.

Shorts got the start over UDFA Allen Hurns, playing "Z" receiver and seeing action in the slot. The contract-year wideout ran ahead of Hurns and Marqise Lee. On a promising drive in the fourth quarter, Shorts lost a back-breaking fumble that was recovered by Titans ILB Avery Williamson. Shorts can flirt with WR3 value as long as his hamstrings hold up, but they will remain a concern going forward, quite possibly for the remainder of this season. Allen Robinson is a higher-ceiling hold in fantasy leagues.
Oct 12 - 4:19 PM

Cecil Shorts is in the starting lineup for Week 6 against the Titans.

Shorts' risk of in-game hamstring aggravations remains high, but he is getting the nod over struggling UDFA Allen Hurns. Allen Robinson is starting at X receiver, the big-play position in OC Jedd Fisch's offense. Shorts is worth rostering in 14-team leagues to see what happens, although 12-team-league owners shouldn't be falling all over themselves to add him as a low-ceiling stash.
Oct 12 - 11:48 AM

Cecil Shorts is active for Week 6 against Tennessee.

Marqise Lee is also up, making Mike Brown the odd man out of Jacksonville's receiver corps. The Jaguars' Week 6 inactives are RB Toby Gerhart, WR Tavarres King, LB Jeremiah George, OG Tyler Shatley, CB Jeremy Harris, and OT Sam Young.
Oct 12 - 11:34 AM

According to ESPN's Adam Caplan, it "remains in question" whether Cecil Shorts (hamstring) plays in Week 6 against the Titans, despite his probable tag on the injury report.

It sounds like the Jags may just let their young pups play, as Marqise Lee is returning to complement Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns in three-wide sets. It's worth noting Caplan was all over last week's Justin Hunter news, reporting long before anyone else that Hunter would start against the Browns. Hunter started, and finished with a 3-99-1 stat line while playing 97 percent of the snaps.
Oct 10 - 2:27 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 6.

His role is entirely unclear with Marqise Lee (hamstring) also listed as probable, and Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns entrenched as high-snap players in the Jaguars' offense. Fantasy owners shouldn't be sprinting to pick up Shorts.
Oct 10 - 1:39 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) returned to Jaguars practice Thursday, getting in a "full" session.

Shorts is suddenly on track to return for Week 6, but how he bounces back in Friday's practice will be key. If Shorts does manage to get back on the field, he'd be a WR4/5 at risk of re-injury. Shorts' legs have become less reliable than Miles Austin's.
Oct 9 - 3:35 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) did not practice Wednesday.

He remains week to week. Shorts is unlikely to play in Sunday's game against the Titans.
Oct 8 - 3:24 PM

Jaguars declared WR Cecil Shorts, WR Marqise Lee, OG Tyler Shatley, OT Josh Wells, WR Tavarres King, LB Jeremiah George and CB Dwayne Gratz inactive for Week 5 against the Steelers.

Shorts is supposedly "week to week," but we wouldn't expect to see him back any time soon. Lee is week to week, as well, leaving Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson as the Jags' Nos. 1-2 receivers against the Steelers' shaky defense. Ace Sanders (suspension) will make his 2014 debut on Sunday.
Oct 5 - 11:36 AM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) remained out of Jaguars practice Thursday.

Shorts is fully expected to miss Sunday's game against the Steelers. "Week to week," at best, Shorts can be dropped in 12-14 team leagues.
Oct 2 - 3:54 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) says he's week-to-week.

He won't play this week against the Steelers. With Marqise Lee (hamstring) also out, Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns will play every snap at receiver in a favorable matchup. Shorts has become far too injury-prone to hold in fantasy.
Oct 1 - 12:33 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is expected to miss Week 5.

This is getting ridiculous. At some point, the Jaguars are going to have to consider either a multi-week absence or injured reserve as they try to sort out their young and muddled receiver corps for rookie QB Blake Bortles. Shorts isn't a must-hold in 12-team re-draft leagues.
Sep 29 - 3:06 PM

Cecil Shorts latest hamstring pull is an aggravation of the one that caused him to miss the first two games of the regular season.

Shorts pulled his troublesome left hamstring against the Chargers and is headed for an MRI Monday. Expect an extended absence, leaving Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson as the Jags' primary wideouts. Note that Shorts also battled a calf injury and a right hamstring pull since June, giving him Miles Austin status when it comes to soft-tissue injuries.
