Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is probable for Week 3 against the Colts.
Allen Hurns (ankle) is also listed as probable. Both players practiced in full Friday. With Marqise Lee (hamstring) out, look for Shorts and Hurns to open as the starters. Allen Robinson will be serve as the No. 3 receiver. With Chad Henne still under center, it's hard to trust any of these guys as more than WR4/5 plays. For Shorts' sake, hopefully he can avoid setbacks with his balky hamstring. Sep 19 - 12:46 PM

Date:

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) remained limited on Thursday.

Per coach Gus Bradley, Shorts "continues to look good." It sounds like he'll be active for Sunday's game against the Colts, but fantasy owners can't be comfortable with Shorts' recent injury history. He'll be a WR5 at risk of going down.

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) returned to a limited practice Wednesday.

That's the good news for the Jaguars. The bad news is that Marqise Lee was forced to leave practice early after re-tweaking his hamstring injury from last week. Both should be considered highly questionable for Week 3 against the Colts. UDFA Allen Hurns (ankle) missed practice altogether on Wednesday. If none of the three can play, Allen Robinson and Mike Brown would be the starters.
Sep 17 - 3:50 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) says he will return to practice Wednesday.

The Jaguars could use Shorts after Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee both laid eggs in Sunday's loss to Washington, dropping several passes and blowing assignments. "I’ll be practicing Wednesday," Shorts said. "It felt good running around today. I sprinted, so I’ll give it a go on Wednesday." With Shorts back, either Lee or Hurns may lose his job. Allen Robinson is also on the rise after turning six targets into four catches and 75 yards the Skins.

Jaguars declared Cecil Shorts (hamstring) inactive for Sunday's game at Washington

Shorts made the trip, but never had a realistic shot to play as he deals with yet another soft-tissue injury. We'd consider him very questionable for the Week 3 game against the Colts. It leaves the Jags with Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee as their starting wideouts again, and both are on the WR4 radar against a leaky Redskins secondary. The rest of the Jaguars inactives: SS Johnathan Cyprien, OT Austin Pasztor, RB Storm Johnson, TE Clay Harbor, OG Tyler Shatley and OT Josh Wells.

Cecil Shorts (doubtful, hamstring) is expected to travel with the Jaguars for their Week 2 matchup with Washington.

Shorts was limited in practice on Wednesday, but has not practiced since. He is still extremely doubtful to suit up against the Redskins. Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee should be the Jaguars starting wide receivers on Sunday.
Sep 13 - 9:43 AM

Cecil Shorts (doubtful, hamstring) did not practice Friday.

He won't play this week against the Redskins. Shorts is out indefinitely.
Sep 12 - 12:08 PM

Speaking Thursday, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said it "(wasn't) exactly good" that Cecil Shorts was downgraded to DNP after being limited on Wednesday.

"I'm not sure what's going to happen from here on, but we'll see how it goes," Shorts said afterward. It sounds like Shorts can be safely ruled out for Week 2, but Bradley said injured reserve/designated to return has yet to be discussed as a possibility. Shorts simply can't get his leg healthy, and could need a multi-week absence to get in shape.
Sep 11 - 3:42 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is not practicing Thursday.

"I'm not sure what's going to happen from here on, but we'll see how it goes," Shorts said afterward. Shorts appears to be merely playing it safe as he says he didn't suffer a setback when he practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. The Jags will likely see if he can get some work in on Friday before finalizing plans. It's a fluid situation, as Marqise Lee sustained a hamstring injury during Wednesday's session and couldn't finish. Perhaps Allen Hurns will end up as an every-down wideout against the Redskins after all.
Sep 11 - 12:12 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) returned to practice Wednesday on a limited basis.

While the Jaguars got good news with Shorts back on the field, they lost Marqise Lee to a pulled hamstring on the same day. The rookie was unable to finish practice. Shorts' status remains unclear for Week 2, as he's been known to take a while to recover from soft-tissue injuries. It'll be the Allen Hurns show again this week if neither Shorts nor Lee can play. Either Mike Brown or rookie Allen Robinson would be the No. 2. Brown played ahead of Robinson in Week 1.
Sep 10 - 3:41 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) will try to run on Tuesday.

Shorts is the new Miles Austin. He can't get out of his own way and continues to suffer from soft-tissue issues in his legs. After UDFA Allen Hurns lit up the Eagles and Marqise Lee reeled in six passes while leading the Jaguars in targets, there's a chance Shorts will be eased back in when he returns.
Sep 8 - 1:02 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) has been ruled out for the Jaguars' season opener against Philadelphia.

Shorts, RT Austin Pasztor, TE Clay Harbor and RB Storm Johnson didn't make the trip. Marqise Lee will serve as the primary receiver for Jacksonville, with fellow rookies Allen Hurns and Allen Robinson also playing big roles. Lee makes for an interesting FanDuel play at his basement-level price in a game the Jaguars could be trailing, forcing Chad Henne to uncork 30-plus passes.
Sep 6 - 1:51 PM

Jaguars coach Gus Bradley confirmed he's viewing Cecil Shorts (hamstring, questionable) as a game-time decision in Week 1.

"I don’t want to jump too far ahead of ourselves and says it’s a strained hamstring or he’s out for two weeks," Bradley said after Friday’s practice. "It was brought to my attention he has some tightness so until we get all the faces we’ll [wait to] decide." Shorts did not practice on Thursday or Friday. The Jags will evaluate him Saturday, then make a decision Sunday morning.

Sep 5 - 2:50 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is officially listed as questionable for Week 1 at Philadelphia, and is likely to be a game-time call.

After not practicing on Thursday and Friday, Shorts should be off fantasy owners' radars in Week 1 lineup decisions. If Shorts is officially declared inactive Sunday morning, Marqise Lee would become an interesting FanDuel punt.
Sep 5 - 2:31 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) remained sidelined at Jaguars practice Friday, and is questionable for Week 1 against the Eagles.

Here we go again. Shorts said he felt some tightness in his hammy ahead of Thursday's practice, forcing him to sit out. He took part in the walkthrough portion on Friday, but didn't do any running. Shorts missed a ton of practices last season before strapping up on Sundays. He'll likely be a game-time call.
