Bucs WR Cecil Shorts is week to week with a hamstring injury.
Shorts was never announced with an injury in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, but pulled up lame. The Bucs' No. 4 receiver, Shorts has a ridiculously long history of hamstring injuries. He could end up on injured reserve before being cut with an injury settlement. Sep 22 - 1:45 PM

Bucs signed WR Cecil Shorts to a one-year contract.

Pushed out by the Texans' youth movement at receiver, Shorts has landed on his feet with a team where he should immediately slot in as the No. 3 receiver. That's literally and figuratively, as the slot should be Shorts' home in Tampa. Shorts is still only 28, but prone to soft-tissue injuries. He'll be well behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson on the targets totem pole, and doesn't figure to come into 2016 fantasy value.

Free agent WR Cecil Shorts will visit the Bucs this week.

Shorts was released by the Texans at final cuts, but he would be a solid depth signing for a thin receiver corps. Shorts played for coach Dirk Koetter in Jacksonville his rookie season.
Sep 6 - 10:42 AM

Texans released WR Cecil Shorts.

Shorts was due an affordable $1.2 million this season, but was up against it for a roster spot after the Texans drafted Will Fuller and Braxton Miller. Miller proceeded to take Shorts' slot job. Still only 28, Shorts has caught at least 40 passes each of the past four seasons, but struggled mightily with soft-tissue injuries. He'll get a look elsewhere, but only as a depth piece.
Sep 3 - 11:11 AM

Cecil Shorts caught 1-of-2 targets for seven yards in the Texans' third preseason game.

Even after taking a $1 million pay cut before camp, Shorts appears to be on the outside looking in at a roster spot in Houston, short of suddenly becoming a gung-ho special teams force. He's lost his slot job to Braxton Miller.
Aug 28 - 8:36 PM

Texans WR Cecil Shorts agreed to a $1 million pay cut.

His base salary was slashed from $2.7 million to $1.2 million, but he can earn $500,000 of the cut back via a roster bonus. The only veteran on the depth chart behind DeAndre Hopkins, Shorts likely ensured his spot on the roster by accepting the pay cut. He will try to hold off first-rounder Will Fuller and sophomore Jaelen Strong for the No. 2 job.
Jun 18 - 11:30 AM

The Texans have no plans to cut Cecil Shorts.

Shorts didn't have a great year in 2015 (just 42 catches for 482 yards and two touchdowns) but Houston has plenty of cap space and his $2.75 million base salary for next season is relatively affordable. The 28-year-old slot receiver missed five games last year with groin and hamstring issues.
Mar 2 - 2:13 PM

Cecil Shorts caught 1-of-3 targets for five yards in the Texans' Wild Card loss to the Chiefs.

He was a non-factor the entire afternoon as Brian Hoyer struggled badly at quarterback with four picks and five turnovers. Shorts missed five games to injury in the regular season and has missed 19 games in total since entering the league in 2011. He's never played a full 16-game season. In the regular season, Shorts posted a 42-484-2 line as the slot receiver. He has one year left on his two-year pact and is due $3 million in salary and bonuses in 2016.
Jan 9 - 8:55 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is listed as probable for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs.

He's been practicing in full the last two days. Shorts snagged four catches for 57 yards in his first matchup with the Chiefs back in Week 1.
Jan 8 - 3:02 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.

Barring a setback, he'll be active for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs. With Nate Washington (hip) back at practice Thursday, Brian Hoyer is suddenly on pace to have his top three wideouts for his playoff debut. Jaelen Strong figures to still have a role with Shorts and Washington both at less than 100 percent.
Jan 7 - 4:07 PM

Coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that Cecil Shorts (hamstring) "has a chance to play Saturday" against the Chiefs.

Shorts previously stated he anticipates returning for the Wild Card Round. Shorts' return is needed after Nate Washington (hip) went down in Week 17. O'Brien described Washington as "day to day" at his Monday press conference. Rookie Jaelen Strong is the next man up behind DeAndre Hopkins.
Jan 4 - 3:38 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) said he expects to play against the Chiefs in the Wild Card round.

"Now, it’s go-time," Shorts said. "Now, it’s a whole new season. The slates are clean. Everything is 0-0. Gotta get it going." With Nate Washington questionable with a hip injury, the Texans could use a healthy Shorts to take pressure off DeAndre Hopkins. Shorts suffered the injury in Week 15 and missed the final two games of the regular season.
Jan 4 - 8:58 AM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 17.

It's unclear if he'll be ready for the playoffs. Shorts also missed Week 16 with his hamstring strain. Nate Washington will continue to operate as the Texans' clear-cut No. 2 receiver across from DeAndre Hopkins.
Mon, Dec 28, 2015 03:49:00 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is out for Week 16 against the Titans.

He hasn't practiced all week. All three of Nate Washington's touchdowns this year have come with Shorts out of the lineup. Rookie Jaelen Strong will also have an increased role with Shorts sidelined.
Thu, Dec 24, 2015 02:17:00 PM

Coach Bill O'Brien said Cecil Shorts (groin) is unlikely to play this week.

Shorts didn't practice Wednesday and can be ruled out for Week 16. Jaelen Strong will replace Shorts in three-wide sets.
