Bucs WR Cecil Shorts tore his right ACL, MCL and PCL, and dislocated his knee.
It's a career-threatening injury. Going on 29 with a long and winding injury history, the odds are against Shorts ever playing another NFL snap. It's a shame for a player who had a useful peak, one that could have been much better without all the injuries. Dec 5 - 1:40 PM

The Bucs fear WR Cecil Shorts tore "all" the ligaments in his right knee and dislocated it on Sunday's Week 13 injury.

The injury occurred on a monster hit by head-hunting Chargers S Jahleel Addae in the first half of Sunday's game. Shorts is certainly done for the season. The question now becomes whether he'll ever play in the NFL again.
Dec 4 - 8:37 PM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts suffered what appeared to be a severe knee injury in Sunday's Week 13 game against the Chargers.

He was carted off and is likely done for the season. Expect Russell Shepard and Adam Humphries to see upticks in playing time the rest of the way.
Dec 4 - 4:48 PM

Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said Cecil Shorts (hamstring, questionable) will start in place of Vincent Jackson (knee, IR).

There was some talk slot-man Adam Humphries would slide outside with Jackson out, but the Bucs will turn to Shorts until he inevitably suffers another soft-tissue injury. Russell Shepard, Donteea Dye, and Louis Murphy (knee, PUP) will likely get their chances as well. In reality, it will be the Mike Evans show from here on out.
Oct 22 - 10:16 AM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is questionable for Week 7 against the 49ers.

Shorts is ready to return after missing the last month. He could have a role in three-wide sets with Vincent Jackson (knee) on IR.
Oct 21 - 7:01 PM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was limited in Wednesday's practice.

It's only notable with Vincent Jackson (knee) on I.R. The Bucs are considering moving Adam Humphries outside to replace Jackson. Shorts could see some time in the slot if he returns Sunday.
Oct 19 - 6:56 PM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) returned to practice Monday.

Shorts has been sidelined since Week 2 with a hamstring issue. This practice puts him on track to play this week, but he is well off the fantasy radar.
Oct 17 - 10:52 AM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is out for Week 4.

Indeed, Shorts is still in the league. We just looked it up.
Sep 30 - 3:09 PM

Bucs WR Cecil Shorts is week to week with a hamstring injury.

Shorts was never announced with an injury in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, but pulled up lame. The Bucs' No. 4 receiver, Shorts has a ridiculously long history of hamstring injuries. He could end up on injured reserve before being cut with an injury settlement.
Sep 22 - 1:45 PM

Bucs signed WR Cecil Shorts to a one-year contract.

Pushed out by the Texans' youth movement at receiver, Shorts has landed on his feet with a team where he should immediately slot in as the No. 3 receiver. That's literally and figuratively, as the slot should be Shorts' home in Tampa. Shorts is still only 28, but prone to soft-tissue injuries. He'll be well behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson on the targets totem pole, and doesn't figure to come into 2016 fantasy value.
Sep 6 - 5:24 PM

Free agent WR Cecil Shorts will visit the Bucs this week.

Shorts was released by the Texans at final cuts, but he would be a solid depth signing for a thin receiver corps. Shorts played for coach Dirk Koetter in Jacksonville his rookie season.
Sep 6 - 10:42 AM

Texans released WR Cecil Shorts.

Shorts was due an affordable $1.2 million this season, but was up against it for a roster spot after the Texans drafted Will Fuller and Braxton Miller. Miller proceeded to take Shorts' slot job. Still only 28, Shorts has caught at least 40 passes each of the past four seasons, but struggled mightily with soft-tissue injuries. He'll get a look elsewhere, but only as a depth piece.
Sep 3 - 11:11 AM

Cecil Shorts caught 1-of-2 targets for seven yards in the Texans' third preseason game.

Even after taking a $1 million pay cut before camp, Shorts appears to be on the outside looking in at a roster spot in Houston, short of suddenly becoming a gung-ho special teams force. He's lost his slot job to Braxton Miller.
Aug 28 - 8:36 PM

Texans WR Cecil Shorts agreed to a $1 million pay cut.

His base salary was slashed from $2.7 million to $1.2 million, but he can earn $500,000 of the cut back via a roster bonus. The only veteran on the depth chart behind DeAndre Hopkins, Shorts likely ensured his spot on the roster by accepting the pay cut. He will try to hold off first-rounder Will Fuller and sophomore Jaelen Strong for the No. 2 job.
Jun 18 - 11:30 AM

The Texans have no plans to cut Cecil Shorts.

Shorts didn't have a great year in 2015 (just 42 catches for 482 yards and two touchdowns) but Houston has plenty of cap space and his $2.75 million base salary for next season is relatively affordable. The 28-year-old slot receiver missed five games last year with groin and hamstring issues.
