Cecil Shorts caught 1-of-3 targets for five yards in the Texans' Wild Card loss to the Chiefs.
He was a non-factor the entire afternoon as Brian Hoyer struggled badly at quarterback with four picks and five turnovers. Shorts missed five games to injury in the regular season and has missed 19 games in total since entering the league in 2011. He's never played a full 16-game season. In the regular season, Shorts posted a 42-484-2 line as the slot receiver. He has one year left on his two-year pact and is due $3 million in salary and bonuses in 2016. Jan 9 - 8:55 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is listed as probable for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs.

He's been practicing in full the last two days. Shorts snagged four catches for 57 yards in his first matchup with the Chiefs back in Week 1.
Jan 8 - 3:02 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was upgraded to "full" in Thursday's practice.

Barring a setback, he'll be active for Saturday's Wild Card game against the Chiefs. With Nate Washington (hip) back at practice Thursday, Brian Hoyer is suddenly on pace to have his top three wideouts for his playoff debut. Jaelen Strong figures to still have a role with Shorts and Washington both at less than 100 percent.
Jan 7 - 4:07 PM

Coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that Cecil Shorts (hamstring) "has a chance to play Saturday" against the Chiefs.

Shorts previously stated he anticipates returning for the Wild Card Round. Shorts' return is needed after Nate Washington (hip) went down in Week 17. O'Brien described Washington as "day to day" at his Monday press conference. Rookie Jaelen Strong is the next man up behind DeAndre Hopkins.
Jan 4 - 3:38 PM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) said he expects to play against the Chiefs in the Wild Card round.

"Now, it’s go-time," Shorts said. "Now, it’s a whole new season. The slates are clean. Everything is 0-0. Gotta get it going." With Nate Washington questionable with a hip injury, the Texans could use a healthy Shorts to take pressure off DeAndre Hopkins. Shorts suffered the injury in Week 15 and missed the final two games of the regular season.
Jan 4 - 8:58 AM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 17.

It's unclear if he'll be ready for the playoffs. Shorts also missed Week 16 with his hamstring strain. Nate Washington will continue to operate as the Texans' clear-cut No. 2 receiver across from DeAndre Hopkins.

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is out for Week 16 against the Titans.

He hasn't practiced all week. All three of Nate Washington's touchdowns this year have come with Shorts out of the lineup. Rookie Jaelen Strong will also have an increased role with Shorts sidelined.
Thu, Dec 24, 2015 02:17:00 PM

Coach Bill O'Brien said Cecil Shorts (groin) is unlikely to play this week.

Shorts didn't practice Wednesday and can be ruled out for Week 16. Jaelen Strong will replace Shorts in three-wide sets.
Wed, Dec 23, 2015 06:11:00 PM

Texans coach Bill O'Brien said Monday that Cecil Shorts (groin) is "day to day."

It's better than week to week, obviously, but Shorts' status for Week 16 against the Titans is entirely uncertain. If Shorts can't play, rookie Jaelen Strong could get more run behind DeAndre Hopkins and Nate Washington.

Cecil Shorts was forced from Week 15 with a groin injury.

He was immediately ruled out for the game. Shorts was held without a catch on his only target before exiting. Jaelen Strong will see an increased role in three-wide sets.
Sun, Dec 20, 2015 02:46:00 PM

Cecil Shorts caught 2-of-3 targets for nine yards in Week 14 against the Patriots.

Shorts wasn’t a factor in a game Brian Hoyer completed 11 passes. It's a step back coming off last week's 91-yard game. Shorts can continue to be avoided in Week 15.
Mon, Dec 14, 2015 12:30:00 AM

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was a full participant at Friday's practice.

That's an upgrade from earlier this week when he was limited. Shorts is coming off his best game of the season (six catches for 91 yards in a loss to Buffalo) but shouldn't be much of a factor against New England. Consider him a WR4.

Cecil Shorts (hamstring) was limited on Thursday.

Shorts rarely gets in full practices. He'll be good to go as a WR4 against the Patriots.
Thu, Dec 10, 2015 03:30:00 PM

Cecil Shorts secured 6-of-10 targets for 91 yards in the Texans' Week 13 loss to the Bills.

He carried once for one yard. The Texans' slot receiver entered this game with no performances above four receptions since Week 4. Despite Sunday's solid effort, Shorts will be a weak fantasy option when Houston takes on New England next.
Sun, Dec 6, 2015 05:17:00 PM

Cecil Shorts caught 3-of-4 targets for 18 yards and a touchdown, adding three rushes for 20 yards.

Shorts' touchdown "grab" came on a shovel pass from Brian Hoyer. The Texans have been manufacturing touches for the ex-Jaguar, but he still lacks a realistic path to WR3 value. He'll be a WR4/5 against the Bills in Week 13.
