Cecil Shorts will train at Larry Fitzgerald's offseason camp later this summer.
Fitzgerald's camp has become "legendary" for producing breakout years from wide receivers. We've seen it happen with Greg Jennings, Sidney Rice, Dwayne Bowe, and Eric Decker, among others. Shorts has already added seven pounds, upping his weight from 195 to 202 in hopes of becoming more effective versus press coverage. Shorts should be viewed as a WR3 with upside in fantasy drafts. Cecil Shorts has been a standout at Jaguars OTAs.

This isn't a surprise to anyone that has watched Shorts' 2012 tape. An extremely crisp route-runner with serious juice after the catch, the 2011 fourth-round pick is a diamond in the rough for the Jags. If he can get even mediocre play out of the quarterback position, a top-20 fantasy season is within reach. Shorts will work out with Larry Fitzgerald in Minneapolis once again later this summer.

The Jaguars' official site considered Cecil Shorts the team's best route runner during the 2012 season.

Shorts started the season buried on the depth chart behind the likes of Laurent Robinson, Justin Blackmon, Lee Evans and Mike Thomas. When the dust settled, he led the team in yards (979), touchdowns (7) and YPR (17.8). Now Shorts enters his third NFL season as the clear-cut No. 1 wideout. Blackmon has been suspended for the first four games of the season.

Cecil Shorts (concussions) has been cleared for football activities.

We haven't had an update on Shorts since he was placed on injured reserve on Christmas Eve after suffering his second concussion in a month. So this is good news because, as we've seen with teammate Laurent Robinson, head injuries can derail a career. If the Jaguars can find a quarterback in 2013, Shorts can be a top-20 fantasy receiver.

Jaguars placed WR Cecil Shorts (concussion) on season-ending injured reserve.

Rashad Jennings (shoulder) and LB Greg Jones (leg) have also been placed on I.R. Shorts sustained his second concussion in three weeks in Sunday's loss to the Patriots, and was doubtful to be cleared in time to return for Week 17. The Jaguars promoted WR Jerrell Jackson from practice squad to replace him.

Cecil Shorts sustained another concussion in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.

It's Shorts' second concussion since Week 13 and it will almost certainly keep him out of the season finale. The breakout playmaker had already expressed concern about his long-term health while dealing recovering from his first concussion. Teammates Laurent Robinson and Clint Session have had major complications since sustaining their brain injuries.

Cecil Shorts caught six passes for 54 yards before leaving Sunday's Week 16 loss to the Patriots late in the fourth quarter with a head or neck injury.

Shorts was targeted 11 times on the day, but he dropped a couple of passes while he was trying to get up field before having control of the ball. The Patriots seemed to make it a point to take Shorts away from the Jaguars, forcing Justin Blackmon and Jordan Shipley to beat them. The 54 yards were the fewest he's posted in a game since Week 5. Shorts now has 979 yards receiving on the season, but after taking a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit from Patrick Chung that left him groggy, Shorts could be in danger of missing the season finale versus the Titans. He's 21 yards away from becoming the first 1,000-yard receiver in Jacksonville since Jimmy Smith in 2005.

Cecil Shorts exited Jacksonville's Week 16 game against the Patriots late in the fourth quarter after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit.

Shorts, of course, battled a concussion a couple of weeks ago. This time, Patriots S Patrick Chung drilled Shorts in the head and was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play. He appeared to have been knocked out for a split-second and was walked off the field under the assistance of two trainers. Shorts' Week 17 status will be in serious question.

Coach Bill Belichick considers Cecil Shorts one of the best receivers the Patriots have played against this season.

"He competes hard — he doesn't take any plays off and he works hard on every route," Belichick said. "I think he does everything well. Excellent downfield receiver, he's got really good quickness off the line of scrimmage against press coverage, he breaks tackles and can take it all the way." It's the kind of effusive praise Belichick usually reserves for Fred Jackson, one of his favorite players.

Updating an earlier item, Cecil Shorts (concussion) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice, and has been removed from the injury report.

The Jaguars somehow managed to not only accidentally leave their No. 1 receiver on the injury report, but list him as "DNP." Only in Jacksonville. As it is, Shorts will be a high-end WR2 for the fantasy finals against the Patriots after picking up where he left off before his concussion in last week's loss. He needs to total just 75 yards over his final two games to reach 1,000 on the season.

Cecil Shorts (concussion) was held out of Jaguars practice Wednesday.

It's likely just a day of rest for Jacksonville's ascendant second-year receiver, as he returned from a concussion to post a 6/101/0 line in Sunday's loss. He wasn't known to have suffered another head injury against the Dolphins. For now, there's no reason to worry about his status for the fantasy finals.

Cecil Shorts returned from a concussion in Week 15 to catch six balls for a team-high 101 yards in the Jaguars' loss to the Dolphins.

Shorts flashed his big-play talent on intermediate shots down the seam. He's now posted either a touchdown or 100-plus receiving yards in seven of his last eight games. Even in an otherwise untrustworthy Jaguars offense, Shorts will be difficult to keep on fantasy benches in a Week 16 matchup with the Patriots.

Cecil Shorts is active for Week 15 against the Dolphins, as expected.

The Jaguars' Week 15 inactives are RB Maurice Jones-Drew, RB Rashad Jennings, RB Jordan Todman, DE George Selvie, CB Aaron Ross, DE Andre Branch, and WR Quan Cosby. Rashean Mathis will get the start at left cornerback. Montell Owens will handle the rushing load for Jacksonville, facing Miami's top-nine run defense.

Cecil Shorts (concussion) returned to a full practice Friday and is listed as probable for Week 15 at Miami.

Shorts expressed some early-week hesitation about playing so soon after suffering a concussion in light of what teammates Clint Session and Laurent Robinson have gone through this year. Ultimately, Shorts determined he's fine and the Jaguars' medical staff agrees. Facing the Dolphins' No. 25 pass defense in Week 15, Shorts will be a recommended WR3 for the fantasy semifinals.

Cecil Shorts (concussion) was limited again in Thursday's practice.

Unlike teammate Rashad Jennings, Shorts has passed his concussion tests and has been cleared to play. He plans to be smart about his health, though, and has refused to guarantee that he will suit up at Miami. Check back this weekend for an update.
