The San Diego Union-Tribune does not consider Jonas Mouton a candidate to replace Takeo Spikes at "Mike" linebacker.
Mouton's progress has been slow since the Chargers took him in the second round of the 2011 draft. The Union-Tribune says he's "still developing" and expects new GM Tom Telesco to find his 2013 Mike in the draft or free agency. Mar 7 - 10:14 AM

Chargers 2011 second-round ILB Jonas Mouton is expected to make his NFL debut this week versus the Bengals.

Mouton lost his entire rookie season to a shoulder injury, and he's been a healthy scratch all 11 games this year. With Donald Butler (groin) expected to miss Sunday's game, Mouton will be needed for depth behind Takeo Spikes and Demorrio Williams.

Chargers ILB Jonas Mouton is healthy after missing the 2011 season with a shoulder injury.

Mouton's shoulder wasn't believed to be seriously damaged when he injured it during preseason play, but he was moved to I.R. in mid-September when it failed to show improvement. The No. 61 overall pick in the 2011 draft could push Takeo Spikes for the starting job opposite Donald Butler.

Chargers placed ILB Jonas Mouton (shoulder) on injured reserve, ending his season.

The 61st overall pick in the draft, Mouton wound up playing no snaps in his rookie season. The Chargers still have high hopes that Mouton can emerge into a thumper against the run, but Takeo Spikes may block him for another season or two. San Diego will go forward with Stephen Cooper, Na'il Diggs, and rookie Andrew Gachkar behind starters Spikes and Donald Butler.

Chargers agreed to terms with No. 61 overall pick LB Jonas Mouton on a four-year contract.

Mouton becomes the first second-round pick to sign. The Chargers want to get him up to speed quickly, just in case they lose free agent Kevin Burnett. If that happens, Mouton will likely be asked to step right in as a starter on the inside next to newly acquired Takeo Spikes.

Personnel sources tell FOX Sports' Adam Caplan that No. 61 overall pick Jonas Mouton will be a "very good fit" for the Chargers' defensive scheme.

Mouton was seen as a draft reach, but he's going to be an immediate starter in San Diego. Also a favorite of NFL Films analyst Greg Cosell, Mouton is an impact tackler with a pro-ready skill set. He should be on all IDP radars.

Chargers second-rounder Jonas Mouton is expected to take over as the "Mike" linebacker.

Mouton was viewed as a reach after a subpar Combine performance, but the Chargers love his "excellent play speed." Stephen Cooper, Kevin Burnett, and Brandon Siler are all free agents, so the Bolts could be starting over in the middle.

Chargers selected Michigan ILB Jonas Mouton with the No. 61 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

Exceptionally productive in the Big Ten, Mouton led the conference with 117 tackles last season, including 8.5 tackles for loss to go with two sacks and two interceptions. Many draftniks wrote off Mouton because of his 4.8s forty time at the Combine, but the NFL was high on him all along. One of NFL films guru Greg Cosell's absolute favorites, Mouton will probably be a plug-and-play starter at inside linebacker for the Chargers.
