Texans signed DT Terrell McClain.
DE David Hunter (foot) was sent to injured reserve in a corresponding move. The No. 65 pick of the 2011 draft, McClain was waived by the Panthers at final cuts before spending one week on the Patriots' active roster. Abysmal against the run to this point in his young career, McClain might not get many snaps to prove himself in Houston. Mon, Oct 29, 2012 12:55:00 PM

Patriots waived DT Terrell McClain.

The Pats often pick up street free agents to be used in a specific matchup only to be discarded a week or two later. McClain played 11 snaps versus Bills in his only week with the club. According to ESPN Boston, free agent LB Bobby Carpenter is expected to take McClain's roster spot.

Patriots signed DT Terrell McClain.

The Panthers gave up on McClain at final cuts even though he was the No. 65 overall pick in the 2011 draft. He'll get a shot to cure his run-stopping woes as a rotational lineman in New England.

The Patriots worked out free agent DL Terrell McClain and Antonio Dixon Tuesday.

McClain was the No. 65 pick of last year's draft, but got destroyed against the run. Dixon appeared in only four games for the Eagles in 2011.

Free agent DT Terrell McClain worked out for the Bears this week.

McClain was the 65th overall pick just two drafts ago. The Bears are always on the lookout for defensive line depth, particularly after cutting Brian Price only five weeks into his stint with the club.

Panthers waived DT Terrell McClain.

The No. 65 overall pick one season ago was dumped to make room for Dwan Edwards, who was cut by Buffalo on Friday. McClain entered the NFL with production and size-related question marks, but the DT-needy Panthers took a shot. Prior to hitting injured reserve with a December knee injury, McClain ranked as the league's worst starting defensive tackle versus the run, according to Pro Football Focus.

Panthers placed DT Terrell McClain (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Already a bottom-tier run defense, Carolina will lose both rookie third-round defensive tackles, as Sione Fua suffered a hamstring injury as well. Pro Football Focus grades McClain as the least effective starting defensive tackle against the run this year. The Panthers are going to have to address the position in 2012.

The Panthers will rotate defensive tackles Terrell McClain, Sione Fua, and Andre Neblett against the Cardinals this week.

Rookies McClain and Fua are still adjusting to the speed of the NFL after the shortened offseason. This is the best matchup Beanie Wells will face all season, and he needs to be in starting lineups. Rotoworld ranks Wells 11th among fantasy backs in Week 1.

Third-rounder Terrell McClain has begun splitting first-team reps with Corvey Irvin at defensive tackle.

Irvin, a disappointment to date, had been running with the starters throughout camp. After a strong performance against the Giants last week, McClain now has a shot to unseat Irvin at the three-technique spot next to fellow rookie Sione Fua.

No. 65 overall pick Terrell McClain expects a smooth transition into the Panthers' defense because the system is similar to how he played at South Florida.

The Panthers' defense under Ron Rivera and Sean McDermott is expected to involve attacking up front with Cover 2 concepts in the back end. Rivera envisions McClain as a three-technique, pass-rushing tackle. Carolina is weak on the interior, giving McClain a very good shot to start early in his first season.

Panthers selected South Florida DT Terrell McClain with the No. 65 overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.

McClain was a first-team All-Conference USA pick in 2010, although his production-size combo leaves quite a bit to be desired. He managed just 7.5 sacks in four years at USF, and goes 6'2/305. ESPN's Jon Gruden says McClain "needs to get in shape." But the simple fact that McClain plays defensive tackle makes him a candidate for significant playing time in DT-needy Carolina.
