Eagles released OG John Moffitt.
Moffitt "retired" in 2013 but was attempting a comeback after getting his life together. The former 75th overall pick was overmatched this preseason, receiving poor marks from PFF. He's still just 28 and may get another shot. Sep 4 - 11:15 AM

Eagles signed OG John Moffitt to a one-year contract.

The No. 75 overall pick of the 2011 draft by the Seahawks, Moffitt retired midway through the 2013 season as he dealt with personal issues. Going on 29, Moffitt hasn't played meaningful snaps since 2012, and wasn't overly effective as a regular NFLer. Nevertheless, the Eagles get a player with a mauling profile two weeks after releasing Evan Mathis. Moffitt won't be assured of cracking the 53-man roster.

Broncos waived OG John Moffitt.

It's a procedural move after Moffitt unofficially retired in 2013. Moffitt has been training the last three months and is attempting to make a comeback. 28-year-old Moffitt could resurface on a veteran-minimum deal.

Free agent OG John Moffitt wants to return to the NFL.

Moffitt, 28, retired in November 2013 due to drug issues. He's since cleaned up his life and has been training the past three months with an eye toward returning to the league. The former No. 75 overall pick in 2011 by the Seahawks, Moffitt was an All-American at offensive lineman-friendly Wisconsin. Moffitt (6-foot-4, 319) is a nasty mauler in the trenches who can play guard or center.

Updating an earlier item, Broncos OG John Moffitt has decided to leave the game of football.

"I'm ready to live a different kind of life," Moffitt told Seattle radio host Dave "Softy" Mahler. Moffitt informed the Broncos of his decision two days ago, and was placed on the reserve/left squad list on Tuesday. An All-American at Wisconsin, Moffitt made 15 starts for the Seahawks between 2011-12, but had been active only twice for the Broncos, playing nine snaps.

Broncos placed OG John Moffitt on the reserve/left squad list.

Reportedly frustrated by his lack of playing time, Moffitt didn't report to the Broncos when they returned from their Week 9 bye. Acquired from the Seahawks in August, Moffitt was a healthy scratch for six of Denver's first eight games. Now he's ineligible to return this season. A 2011 third-rounder, Moffitt made six starts for Seattle last season, and nine in 2011.

Broncos acquired OG John Moffitt from the Seahawks in exchange for DT Sealver Siliga.

A bum knee voided Moffitt's trade to Cleveland, but the Broncos are willing to take a chance on his health. Moffitt has made 15 career starts, but will come off the bench behind Zane Beadles and Louis Vasquez in Denver. That's if he can get healthy. It's worth noting Moffitt played some center in college. Ryan Lilja is currently penciled in, but center is a major question mark for the Broncos.

NFL voided Cleveland's acquisition of OG John Moffitt from the Seahawks in exchange for DL Brian Sanford.

Moffitt failed his physical, and his rights have reverted to the Seahawks. Sanford's rights have reverted to the Browns. Considering Cleveland's issues at guard, their examination of Moffitt must have turned up something major. It's unclear what the Seahawks plan to do with Moffitt, but he could be waived.

Browns acquired OG John Moffitt from the Seahawks in exchange for DL Brian Sanford.

It's a solid pickup for the guard-needy Browns, who became extremely thin on the interior after losing Jason Pinkston and Shawn Lauvao to injuries. Moffitt now becomes the favorite to open the year as Cleveland's starting right guard. The 75th overall pick in the 2011 draft, Moffitt has made 15 NFL starts. He was getting beaten out by J.R. Sweezy at right guard in Seahawks camp.

Seahawks OG John Moffitt pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was fined $1,407.

Moffitt also received a suspended sentence of 24 months in jail, but he won't have to serve it as long as he avoids further legal trouble. Moffitt originally faced two misdemeanor charges -- criminal trespassing and obstruction of a law enforcement officer -- following a series of three different incidents at Bellevue Square mall. He shouldn't face any discipline from the NFL.

Seahawks OG John Moffitt was absent from OTAs on Tuesday due to a court appearance.

The charges are misdemeanors for trespassing and obstruction, and shouldn't have an impact on the upcoming season. Moffitt began last season as the starting right guard, but missed time due to elbow and knee injuries before eventually being scratched healthy. He's back to competing for a job.

Seahawks OG John Moffitt is active for Sunday's Wild Card round game at the Redskins after being a healthy scratch the past two weeks.

J.R. Sweezy is expected to draw the start at right guard, but Moffitt could end up splitting time. Seahawks inactives: WR Deon Butler, OG Rishaw Johnson, OT Mike Person, S Winston Guy, CB DeShawn Shead, LB Allen Bradford, and DT Jaye Howard. Seattle doesn't have a single injured-related inactive for the playoffs.

Seahawks RG John Moffitt (knee) returned to practice on Monday.

Moffitt was injured in Week 3 against the Packers, and Monday was his first practice since going down with the injury. Paul McQuistan has been starting at right guard for the Seahawks, and according to Pro Football Focus, he has been an above average run blocker.

Seahawks declared RG John Moffitt, WR Charly Martin, SS Winston Guy, CB Danny Gorrer, CB Jeremy Lane, DT Clinton McDonald and DT Jaye Howard inactive for Week 6 against the Patriots.

Marshawn Lynch was limited in Wednesday's practice for rest purposes, but was full go on both Thursday and Friday. He's ready to go against the Patriots' top-10 run defense. Pat McQuistan is making another start in Moffitt's absence. Moffitt remains week-to-week.

The Seahawks have no timetable for RG John Moffitt's (knee) return.

Pat McQuistan played well in place of Moffitt in last week's win over Carolina, so Seattle should be able to wait out the absence. "It was a little bit more serious than we thought," Carroll said. "So we're just making sure we're taking care of him. We're OK on the depth chart right now so it's working out."
