Redskins signed CB Chris Culliver, formerly of the 49ers, to a four-year, $32 million contract.
26-year-old Culliver flashed his playmaking prowess with four interceptions in 2014. He quietly graded out as a top-14 cornerback among 108 qualifiers in PFF's grades, also ranking No. 13 overall in coverage. Washington's secondary was among the league's worst last season, finishing 24th in passing yards allowed. David Amerson was particularly inept at right corner, routinely getting roasted deep. Culliver should form an impressive tandem with promising 23-year-old Bashaud Breeland. Culliver's natural position is RCB, so expect him to replace Amerson opposite LCB Breeland. Mar 13 - 9:09 AM

Free agent CB Chris Culliver is visiting the Redskins.

It's Culliver's first-known visit. The Redskins have been trying to add talent at cornerback, but swung and missed on Brandon Browner, and haven't been able to reach an agreement with Perrish Cox. Culliver had a strong 2014 in San Francisco.

The Vikings have inquired about free agent CB Chris Culliver.

Minnesota wanted Davon House before the Jaguars paid top dollar to secure him. Culliver would be a strong fallback option. He's more accomplished than House as a starter with similar size and press-man coverage skills. Culliver won't turn 27 until August. He'd book end Xavier Rhodes for the Vikings.

The Jets have shown interest in free agent CB Chris Culliver.

The Jets have money to burn and cornerback needs. Darrelle Revis is obviously their first choice, but the Patriots are going to fight tooth and nail for him. In what was likely his final year with the Niners, the 26-year-old Culliver contributed 45 tackles and four interceptions. He serves as a nice safety net for the Jets in case Revis returns to Foxboro.

The Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows hears free agent CB Chris Culliver "will have a robust free-agent market."

The 6-foot, 199 pound Culliver has the size most teams are looking for on the outside, and he will only be 27-years-old when the season begins. This year's cornerback class is exceedingly weak, meaning second-tier corners like Culliver could be given a lot of money. Culliver is Rotoworld's No. 11 available corner.
Mar 7 - 1:02 PM

NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini reports free agent Chris Culliver is "one of the most sought after cornerbacks" on the open market.

Culliver is "graded high" by many teams and is expected to net a "big time deal." This comes a week after PFT's Mike Florio reported something similar, saying GMs and coaches were talking Culliver up at the Combine. At 6-foot and 199 pounds, Culliver has the size most teams covet in outside cornerbacks.

PFT believes free agent CB Chris Culliver could have a "very significant" market.

Coaches and general managers were talking up Culliver to PFT's Mike Florio during the Combine. It remains to be seen if they'll be ponying up a ton of guaranteed cash, however, as Culliver carries a string of off-field incidents with him. Still, he's coming off an excellent season in coverage as a 14-game starter for the 49ers and the corner market is very weak. Culliver is set up for a payday.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said RCB Chris Culliver (questionable, concussion) is "good to go" for Sunday night's game against the Bears.

Culliver resumed practicing Thursday and is expected to be cleared. The 49ers will likely be without LCB Tramaine Brock (questionable, toe) this week, leaving Culliver, Perrish Cox, and Dontae Johnson as their top three corners.

49ers RCB Chris Culliver (concussion) has resumed practicing.

It appears he'll be cleared for Sunday's game against the Bears, meaning the 49ers may not be forced to go with Perrish Cox and Dontae Johnson against Jay Cutler. LCB Tramaine Brock's (toe) status is less rosy, with CSN Bay Area calling him doubtful.

49ers RCB Chris Culliver was forced from Sunday's game against the Cowboys with a concussion, and will not return.

With LCB Tramaine Brock (toe) also sidelined, the 49ers are down to Perrish Cox and fourth-round rookie Dontae Johnson at cornerback. Culliver should be considered week to week, and questionable for Week 2 against the Bears.

49ers CB Chris Culliver (ACL) has been medically cleared for training camp.

Culliver tore his left ACL last August. The fourth-year corner is penciled in as the 49ers' starter opposite Tramaine Brock, with Jimmie Ward at nickel back.

49ers CB Chris Culliver remains penciled in as a starter.

The Niners reportedly weren't high on the 2014 cornerback class, and didn't draft one until the late fourth round (Dontae Johnson). First-round pick Jimmie Ward is a free safety and slot corner. Culliver, 25, has tools to become a plus starter, but injuries and off-field hiccups have held him back to this point.

49ers GM Trent Baalke said the team "absolutely will" draft a cornerback on Saturday "if the right player is there at the right time."

The 49ers should be looking for competition for CB Chris Culliver. Culliver (knee surgery) is expected to be ready physically for training camp, but is facing felony possession of metal knuckles and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges stemming from a March incident. The charges put him in danger of league discipline. Clemson CB Bashaud Breeland and Oregon CB Terrance Mitchell are two of Rotoworld's Josh Norris favorite remaining players and potential targets for San Francisco.

49ers CB Chris Culliver pleaded not guilty Monday to felony possession of metal knuckles and misdemeanor hit-and-run charges stemming from his March 28 arrest.

Culliver is accused of striking a bicycler with his car, ramming a witness' vehicle, and threatening the witness with brass knuckles. He is in danger of NFL discipline. Culliver's arrest was just one of several off-field incidents haunting the 49ers' organization during a so-far forgettable offseason.

49ers CB Chris Culliver has been formally charged with a felony and two misdemeanors stemming from his March 28 hit-and-run arrest.

The felony is possession of metal knuckles, with which Culliver threatened a witness following an accident. The witness tried to prevent Culliver from fleeing the scene. The misdemeanors are hit-and-run causing injury and hit-and-run causing property damage. We expect Culliver to eventually be cut by the 49ers.
