ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim reports CB Chris Culliver (ACL, MCL) is expected to be retained.
A one-game suspension voided the $8 million guaranteed Culliver was owed in 2016, but Keim reports the Redskins will honor the guarantee. It is an odd decision. Culliver was not effective while on the field last year and is not likely to be ready by Week 1 after tearing his ACL and MCL in November. With several big needs to fill including in the secondary, the Redskins could use an extra $5.5 million on the cap. Feb 23 - 10:53 AM

The Washington Times reports the suspension Redskins RCB Chris Culliver (ACL, MCL) served Week 2 voided all remaining guaranteed money on his contract.

Culliver was owed $8 million guaranteed in 2016, but a clause in his contract voided that money if he was suspended for a 2014 off-field incident. The change means it will only cost the Redskins $3.75 million in dead cap to cut Culliver this offseason. Culliver struggled while on the field in his one year as a Redskin and is questionable at best for Week 1 after tearing his right ACL and MCL in late November. Washington may decide to move on.

Redskins RCB Chris Culliver is out for the season with a torn right ACL and MCL.

Culliver suffered the injury in Thursday morning's practice. Even before the multi-knee-ligament tear, Culliver was playing poor football for a Redskins team that invested a four-year, $32 million contract in him during the offseason. He was the highest-paid free agent Washington bought last spring. Culliver will be questionable to be ready for Week 1 of the 2016 season.

The Redskins fear RCB Chris Culliver tore his ACL in practice this week.

Culliver suffered a right knee injury in Thursday morning's practice and was immediately sent for an MRI. Culliver has been injured and ineffective all season. His loss isn't necessarily bad news for the Redskins' defense.

Redskins CB Chris Culliver injured his right knee in practice Thursday and will undergo an MRI.

Culliver has had issues with his left knee this season and needed an MRI on his shoulder earlier this week. He was spotted wearing a full brace on his right leg after practice. Culliver has toughed his way through injuries several times, but this one may knock him out of Week 12. DeAngelo Hall would be thrust back into the starting lineup if Culliver misses.

Redskins CBs Chris Culliver (knee) and Bashaud Breeland (hamstring) are active for Week 9 against the Patriots.

DeAngelo Hall (toe), who has not played since Week 3, remains out. The Washington secondary is back to something resembling health, but it is unlikely to matter against Tom Brady. Every important part of the Patriots' passing game is a good start this week.

Redskins RCB Chris Culliver (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 9.

Culliver's on track to play coming off Washington's bye. He practiced all week, but is a game-time decision.

Redskins RCB Chris Culliver (knee) has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Jets.

The Skins will also be without LCB DeAngelo Hall (toe), while slot/LCB Bashaud Breeland is battling a rotator cuff injury that limits the range of motion in his shoulder. This is all good news for Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

Redskins RCB Chris Culliver (knee) has been ruled out for Week 5 against the Falcons.

Julio Jones owners salivate. The Redskins will be without both Culliver and LCB DeAngelo Hall (toe), leaving nickel CB Bashaud Breeland atop the depth chart, followed by Kyshoen Jarrett and Will Blackmon. After Jones' quiet 4-38 line in Week 4, it could be back to a monster day for the NFL's leading receiver.

An MRI on Chris Culliver's injured left knee showed no structural damage.

Culliver sat out Thursday's practice. Coach Jay Gruden said Culliver's status for Sunday's game against the Falcons will depend on how he feels Friday. Culliver owns PFF's 85th highest grade out of 104 qualifiers at cornerback.

Redskins RCB Chris Culliver underwent an MRI on his left knee Wednesday.

Culliver played through a sore knee last week, but didn't practice Wednesday. The Redskins can ill afford to lose any more players in the secondary, especially with Julio Jones on tap for Week 5. Culliver has received extremely poor marks from Pro Football Focus for his coverage through three games this season.

NFL suspended Redskins RCB Chris Culliver one game for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The Skins host the Rams this week. Culliver has a checkered off-the-field history dating back to his time with the 49ers and at South Carolina. It's believed this suspension stems from a 2014 hit-and-run incident in which Culliver was the perpetrator. The good news is the Redskins get back Bashaud Breeland from suspension this week. The bad news is they'll have to keep leaning on DeAngelo Hall and Justin Rogers. Culliver should be good to go for Week 3.

Redskins signed CB Chris Culliver, formerly of the 49ers, to a four-year, $32 million contract.

26-year-old Culliver flashed his playmaking prowess with four interceptions in 2014. He quietly graded out as a top-14 cornerback among 108 qualifiers in PFF's grades, also ranking No. 13 overall in coverage. Washington's secondary was among the league's worst last season, finishing 24th in passing yards allowed. David Amerson was particularly inept at right corner, routinely getting roasted deep. Culliver should form an impressive tandem with promising 23-year-old Bashaud Breeland. Culliver's natural position is RCB, so expect him to replace Amerson opposite LCB Breeland.

Free agent CB Chris Culliver is visiting the Redskins.

It's Culliver's first-known visit. The Redskins have been trying to add talent at cornerback, but swung and missed on Brandon Browner, and haven't been able to reach an agreement with Perrish Cox. Culliver had a strong 2014 in San Francisco.

The Vikings have inquired about free agent CB Chris Culliver.

Minnesota wanted Davon House before the Jaguars paid top dollar to secure him. Culliver would be a strong fallback option. He's more accomplished than House as a starter with similar size and press-man coverage skills. Culliver won't turn 27 until August. He'd book end Xavier Rhodes for the Vikings.
