Ravens LG Jah Reid (toe, injured reserve) underwent surgery on Tuesday, but expects to be ready for OTAs.
"It's a good prognosis, I'll be ready for minicamps definitely," Reid said. "I just started a three-month rehab. I don't know exactly when it's going to be. I'll be fine for next season." Coming off an up-and-down sophomore campaign, Reid won't be guaranteed a starting job next summer. Jan 29 - 8:43 PM

Ravens placed LG Jah Reid (toe) on injured reserve, ending his season.

Reid was inactive last week, as the Ravens offensive line played one of its best games of the year with Bryant McKinnie at left tackle and Kelechi Osemele at left guard. The Ravens wanted Reid to run with the starting job, but he's not yet one of the team's best five linemen. He may have to compete for a starting job in training camp. CB Asa Jackson was activated from suspension in a corresponding move.

Jah Reid has ousted veteran Bobbie Williams as the Ravens' starting left guard.

Reid has been a liability in three starts, committing three penalties, allowing six QB pressures and two more QB hits. The Ravens will give their 2011 third-rounder a chance to turn it around, but they have to turn back to Williams for the playoffs.

Ravens OG Jah Reid (calf) has resumed practicing fully for the first time since August.

The Ravens won't shuffle their offensive line, but coach John Harbaugh indicted that Reid will be worked into the mix behind veteran LG Bobbie Williams on Sunday versus the Browns.

Ravens G/T Jah Reid (calf) is listed as doubtful for Week 1 against the Bengals.

Reid hasn't practiced since the Ravens' second preseason game and won't play in the season opener. Fifth-round pick rookie CB Asa Jackson (illness) is listed as questionable for Monday Night Football. After missing significant time, Reid is a candidate for the weekly inactives.

Ravens G/T Jah Reid had a setback with his troublesome right calf in Friday's preseason game.

It's Reid's second aggravation of an injury he originally suffered in minicamp. If Reid can't get healthy in a hurry, he could find himself on the roster bubble at final cuts.

Ravens G/T Jah Reid (calf) made his training camp debut on Monday.

Reid was sidelined after aggravating an offseason injury right before camp. Out of the running for a starting job, the 2011 third-rounder will provide depth at both guard and tackle.

Ravens T/G Jah Reid has yet to practice in training camp due to a strained right calf.

Reid suffered the injury during spring practices, and had a setback right before training camp started. He opened camp on the active/PUP and will stay there until he passes a physical and conditioning test. No longer a serious contender for a starting job, it's fair to wonder if Reid might be on the roster bubble.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh has confirmed he would be "comfortable" with Jah Reid at left guard.

The 6-foot-7, 327-pound 2011 third-round pick had been speculated as the Ravens' top in-house option to replace Ben Grubbs, and it's indeed the case. The Ravens are up against the salary cap, but could still take one or two lost-cost fliers on interior linemen, and are nearly certain to spend at least one draft pick on a guard. Reid will face competition.

The Baltimore Sun believes OT Jah Reid could be the Ravens' top in-house option to replace departed LG Ben Grubbs.

The Ravens went hard after free agent LG Evan Mathis, but he opted to re-sign with the Eagles Saturday. A 2011 third-round pick, Reid was active for all 16 games as a rookie, but played a total of seven snaps. At 6-foot-7, 327 pounds, Reid would be huge for a guard. The Ravens figure to spend at least one draft pick on a guard.

According to the Baltimore Sun, "from all indications," the Ravens have scrapped the idea of making rookie Jah Reid their starting right tackle.

Per beat writer Mike Preston, the Ravens now view Mark LeVoir as a potential alternative after signing him following his release from the Patriots. LeVoir has reportedly already proven a better pass blocker than Reid in Ravens practice. Moving Marshal Yanda to right tackle is looking more and more likely.

Rookie OT Jah Reid struggled mightily in pass protection in Thursday's preseason opener against the Eagles.

Reid couldn't keep the pressure off Tyrod Taylor, showing slow feet and poor technique. The Baltimore Sun suggests the third-rounder is "more of a project than an immediate solution." That's a problem because starting RT Oniel Cousins continues to get beat like a drum, and LT Michael Oher couldn't stop Trent Cole. The Ravens tackles are a potential stumbling block this season.

Beat writer Aaron Wilson believes third-round pick Jah Reid could end up starting at right tackle in Week 1.

Oniel Cousins will be in camp Thursday and then the competition will be on. Reid has much more upside as the younger player with the bigger frame, and Cousins could end up finding himself without a roster spot.

Ravens signed third-round OT Jah Reid to a four-year contract.

With free agent Jared Gaither likely bolting, Reid is going to have to get up to speed quickly. He jumped right in with the first team offense at right tackle in Thursday's practice. At 6'7/327, Reid certainly has the body to hold his own immediately.
Thu, Jul 28, 2011 01:11:00 PM

Ravens HC John Harbaugh has confirmed that third-round pick Jah Reid will get a chance to earn the Ravens' starting right tackle job.

"He'll be competing for the right tackle spot right out of the gates, and we'll see where it goes," Harbaugh said. The Ravens may have no other choice if both Jared Gaither and Marshal Yanda, who appear set to become unrestricted free agents, do not return.
